Finally: The Video of Obama Donating $5K to Himself

You may have heard already that President Obama donated $5,000 to his own campaign. Depending on your political persuasion and what you think of the president, that’s either very noble of him or it screams of desperation.

Of course, there is always a third option: you don’t care.

For those of you who do (for a myriad of reasons, we’re sure), we invite you to watch the following video released on Monday by the Obama campaign:

Final thought — In regards to the line, “We don’t get some of the massive checks that the other side does,” that just simply isn’t true. Didn’t Bill Maher and Morgan Freeman both donate $1,000,000 a piece to the Obama reelection campaign?

Furthermore, we don’t recall anyone on that “side” complaining in 2008 when they hauled in a record-smashing $750 million from fundraisers. And we really don’t recall anyone on that “side” explaining how outspending Sen. John McCain by a ratio of 3-to-1 was a “bad” thing.

Okay, so let’s see if we understand this correctly: Romney’s “massive checks” are bad, our “massive checks” are good. Got it.

      well, obama tried to get people to opt for instead of you getting birthday gifts or wedding gifts, to have your friends and family donate to obama campaign instead.. then they tried, when you DIE instead of having an expensive funeral, get cremated and send the left over funds to obama campaign..       You know things are rough when the Prez is dipping into his savings to fund his campaign. And why not,since most Americans under his reign, have long since depleted theirs. I guess he’s going to have to vacation with his Chewbacca wife stateside for a while. Maybe they should sit down and discuss tightening their belts, and sticking to a budget. Ha!       This is a clear sign of total desperation from this campaign and it is an act to appeal to the “normal” voter. Big problem though since that “normal” voter has NO $$ due to the economy that Obama has systematically brought to its knees over the one and only term he has served. Not only that, these same “normal” voters are on to his game and the gig is up because they are not going to get fooled again. The surprising thing is that he only gave himself $5k ? I guess Michelle is saving their $$ to buy more $7k outfits to wear.

      Reading through some other threads, I get the distinct impression many conservatives believe Obama is deliberately trying to destroy the nation. This is despite the fact that he is doing the right thing by our Armed Forces (extracting them from two senseless wars), our blue collar workers (helping the auto manufacturers weather the financial crisis), and our less fortunate neighbors (moving toward a single payer health care system that provides greater access for all Americans). Besides that, he has two daughters; as a parent, I could not imagine deliberately trying to ruin my son’s future by turning the U.S. into a third world country. Yet this is exactly what many here claim Obama is doing.

      I guess the question is…does your hatred of the man or his policies cloud your better judgment? Do you truly believe Obama would destroy his daughters’ futures because he hates the principles America was founded on? Or is this so much partisan hyperbole, designed to fire up the conservative base to get behind a candidate that, quite frankly, isn’t all that different from Obama?

      Other politicians have donated to their own presidential campaigns–Ross Perot, John Kerry, Steve Forbes, Hillary Clinton (sometimes even that doesn’t help–these people all lost). However, this may be the first video ever made of the actual act. An historic moment for sure.       I’m glad there are others who believe him to be Muslim. I lived in Indonesia, understand their culture and have a better than average understanding of Islam.       Should have saved some of that “$2.7 BILLION dollars spent in the clothing industry since Barry got into office”……right Michelle ?
      Don’t let the article about the $6,800.00 top worn by Michelle to meet the Queen scan over the above remark.
      And you are worried about Ann Romney buying a $1,000. blouse with her own money ? Whoa, her horses don’t even come close to that $2.7 BILLION ! And do NOT forget the vacations.

      I agree Magyar; I also lived in Indonesia for 2 horrible years (1974-’76). I got stoned by some of them in the street I lived in in Jakarta and they called me Christian dog and then shortly after that I was walking with my little son who was 4 years old (he went to the American Embassy school) and 3 of those 17 or 18 year olds attacked us. I know and practiced (and can still practice it) the old fashioned close contact Karate and I let them have it, they fled like the cowards that they are and from that day on when I came out of the gate of my house, everyone disappeared into their house and hid… good, I was left in peace from that day on. They feared me big time, the white, blond Western woman. They had never dealt with someone like me; I am fiercely independent and free.There I learned what Muslims are with their backward, stupid, oppressive ways. I do not want to see that happen here in the USA and we must get that arrogant POS and all his cronies and thugs out of the WH.

    Perhaps George Clooney, Sarah Jessica Parker and Anna Wintour can reach a little deeper into liberal elitist pockets for him?
    It doesnt’ get sadder than “hey guys look..I”m donating to myself..so please donate to me too”.
    This has to be a Plouffe idea…Axelrod goes with the ginning up of “black cred” for votes by “suggesting, may, possibly” Obama’s links to slaves through his white mother..no less.
