Firefighter Miraculously Catches 6-Year-Old Boy Who Fell From Burning Building

Miracles do happen. A recent fire rescue in Boston provides more than enough evidence to corroborate this claim. When emergency workers arrived at the scene, there were numerous people hanging out of a flame-engulfed building, screaming for assistance.
Three stories up, Judith Lamb was holding her six-year-old grandson, Xavier Lara, out the window. While firefighter Lt. Glenn McGillivray encouraged everyone to stay inside the building until the proper resources reached the scene, he quickly realized that Lamb wouldn’t be able to hold the child for much longer.
So, he did what any other responsible hero would. He positioned himself under the window and told the woman to drop her grandson. Thankfully, the young boy landed in his arms safely. In describing the incident, McGillivray said:
“(Xavier) was really flailing, moving his other arm and his legs, and I turned around to see if our ground ladder was going to be quick enough to get situated for him … I realized that I didn’t think we had the time. So at that point, I told her not to drop him until I moved underneath, to then be able to at least break his fall when she let go.
Lamb, who was petrified to drop her grandson, said, “I didn’t want to let him go, I was just praying to God, ‘Please don’t drop him, don’t miss the catch.‘ He didn’t miss the catch. He caught him.”
Xavier, though, had a much simpler description regarding what occurred. He said, “I was Superman.”
Watch the Xavier and his grandmother describe what happened, below:
