First a ‘Cultist’ and an ‘Outsourced’ Indian IT Tech, Now Chris Matthews Likens Romney to African ‘Colonizer’

Chris Matthews is not particularly good at choosing metaphors lately. After having likened the former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney to an Indian tech support worker and accusing the GOP of “outsourcing the election to a Mormon,” (a religion which Matthews also suggested was a “cult”), Matthews has now hit Romney with yet another odd metaphor in the wake of his losses in Alabama and Mississippi. Now, according to Matthews, Romney is like an African colonizer.
Mediaite brings us the latest Matthews gaffe [emphasis added]:
Matthews asked Steve Schmidt, former senior advisor to John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign, if it seemed to rank-and-file Republican voters that he “didn’t belong.”
“He’s not a backslapping urban politician, you know, who can go down there and pull off the y’alls and the cheese grits,” Schmidt observed. “He’s a serious man with a record of accomplishment and he particularly has a record of accomplishment in making broken things work right and I think being able to communicate that through the prism of this is how it benefits you, the voter, in a primary context and then ultimately in a general election context, you know, convincing people he has the core competence to restore prosperity to the country.”
“It sounds colonial!” Matthews exclaimed. “Like, I’m not one of you people, but I can come in and run your country better than you can! I know I’m not one of you, but I’m really good at this business sense. You know! Colonial! That was the colonial argument by the way in Africa. We’re going to come in. We may not belong here. We’re not one of you but we got this economic sense. We know how to run businesses better. I’m sorry, these metaphors never work!”
Watch here:
It may be a good idea for Matthews to lay off Romney, given two gaffes this close in proximity to each other, one of which has already drawn extensive fire. In fact, during his Wednesday morning radio broadcast, Glenn Beck himself savaged Matthews for his comments on-air.
“The guy is a bigot. Let’s call him that,” Beck said. “Anybody who doesn’t fall in line with what he thinks is right is either stupid or a cult or dangerous.”
Watch below as Beck lampoons Matthews for his bigoted remarks:
“I don’t give a flying crap if he was purple. I don’t care. I care about his character, and I care about his policies. That’s what the south just proved,” Glenn added.
Glenn concluded the segment saying, “I have no problem defending my faith with reasonable people who aren’t using lies and smears against me. I have no problem. I’m not trying to convert you. You want to do your church. You want to be atheist whatever I don’t care. I don’t care. This is America. We all stand together, and we defend each other’s right to worship God the way you worship God unless you’re blowing people up. We’re all cool. Just be cool with each other. But the lies that are coming out are absolutely outrageous, and I say this with real indignation.”

Posted on March 15, 2012 at 12:23amGrasping at straws much? You need a slide rule and a compass to follow the logic trail of this one. Running as outsider, hmm. I recall a certain senator from Chicago doing that. Saying he could do things better then the establishment. Yeah, pretty sure that same Senator did that to.
Report Post »Having a almost arrogant gant about his superior world view. Yeah, I know that senator did that.
Trying to convey competence about your plans to restart the economy. Yeah, he did that to and failed. Thats what politician do dumbass. They try and persuade folks that their idea’s are better then the other guys. Your right about one thing metaphors never work at least yours.

Posted on March 14, 2012 at 11:42pmI think the reason Matthews comments sound off the wall is he dreams these comments up, writes them down and then looks for the first opportunity to slip them into the conversation. Some people when engaged in a conversation with others don’t follow the conversation because they are just looking for an opportunity to get their say in. I’m sure 70 years ago Matthews was interested in what you had to say but those days are long gone. He long ago found his only true friend in a bottle of Jacks

This is a man who realizes he is never going to be as successful as Rush Limbaugh, never be a replacement for the late Tim Russert, and now finds himself fighting and clawing just to keep his position on the lowest rated cable news station.

Debt
