Fla. School Board Shooter’s Wife: My Husband Is ‘Misunderstood’

The wife of the man who fired shots and held a Florida school board at gunpoint Tuesday told reporters Wednesday that her husband was a “tender” and “gentle giant” who was only doing what was best for his family.

Before the shooter, Clay Duke, took his own life Tuesday as armed security officials tried to break up his hostage-style standoff, his wife, Rebecca, says he was stressed by the economy, frustrated over her losing her teaching job and taking medication regularly. In closing her remarks to the press, Duke‘s widow reiterated her husband’s final statements, condemning the wealthy and urging middle class rebellion.

“We deserve it, as much as what the rich, as he calls it, has (sic). We deserve it as well,” she said.

In addition, Duke’s wife says that what her husband did is likely seen as wrong by society, but she did not personally condemn his actions.

      is this woman for real? Her husband shot an unarmed man. That is not the actions of a hero but of a villain. And you are right, if he watched Glenn Beck one time and the media could prove it this would be a different story all together.

      Gun free zones are the arena of choice for these potential ‘active killers’. They are really only interested in a body count-not resistance. Also being cowards, they always take their own lives when they do meet resistance.Don’t shop gun free zones, and inform storekeepers their signs have the opposite effect they are hoping for.

      Generally speaking, if you get “blue” during the holidays you are celebrating for the wrong reason. Times are real tough for my family this year. Its hard to tell your kids that Christmas won’t be much. But, that has not taken away my joy. We have each other, we have our health, but more importantly I am thankful to God for Jesus. Because I know when all is said and done, I will be with Him.

    I feel sorry for this lady. She sure won’t be having a Merry Christmas this year. People who do crazy and irresponsible things like what happened here are very selfish because they don’t give a damn for their loved ones like this woman who must now deal with loss, grief, ridicule and shame.       The wife is an enabler in that she is “excusing” her husband’s behavior. And you can thank the teachers’ union for the fact that she remains a teacher (if she really is a teacher). Somehow I’m thinking otherwise. Why would she be with a man who has a 5 year prison record? Co-dependent!

      Here’s the thing- I personally think that some rich people DON’T deserve what they have. Some did not earn it. But, and here is the major point or lesson to made- I don’t worry about what other people have and do not have. It is none of my business. What is my business is taking what God gave me to work with and doing the best that I can with it.

      The mentality of this teacher is astounding to me. She wants the possessions of rich and yet became a teacher?

      That said, should any of us be surprised? I mean really? This is what we talk about day in and day out- the affects of socialism and conditioning people to believe that they DESERVE stuff. Their entitled to the wealth of the rich. Has anyone ever thought to ask why? Why is EVERYONE on the planet entitled to be rich?

      Someone’s politics only matter in the story when those politics are in opposition to the reporter. Otherwise they see the politics as “normal life.” This is why we need an equal number of liberal and conservative people in the media. The only true balance comes from a diversity of those doing the reporting. The legacy media has no such diversity.

This is a tragedy to that family, but I’m gong to vent. To all liberals, I’ll give a life lesson for free: NOBODY OWES YOU NOTHING. Learn to take care of yourself, so you don’t become a slave. Teach others to be self sufficient so that the safety net is as small as possible. That way those who truly need help can get it. When YOU make everyone dependent ..or somehow think that someone owes them something ..or that somehow they deserve something, YOU HURT SOCIETY. One more thing, this class warfare crap, doesn’t fly. Most of us here wouldn’t be affected by a tax increase to the very wealthy. But most us here just know it’s wrong. NORMAL PEOPLE DON’T OBSESS OVER WHAT OTHER PEOPLE HAVE! The rich already pay the vast majority of the taxes in this country. We should get the 50% that don’t even pay taxes to either start paying their fair share or work it off. i.e. You don’t pay taxes, you clean the highway or something.       I do feel some pity for his wife. She obviously bought into his ramblings about ‘lifes not fair’ and all that. Maybe someday she will come to realize that a ‘gentle giant’ doesn’t try to shoot people at point blank range.

      as someone who had lived through a suicidal phase, you never know what sets off an individual. medications that quack doctors put patients on after one session of “diagnosis” affects the mind of the individual so severely, its hard to tell how his behavior was truly his own. once i personally took myself off my meds, and only then was i able to heal mentally. my heart goes out for all those that have been affected by this terrible incident.

      It is called “coveting thy neighbor’s goods”… remember that one from some ancient document scribed in stone called the Ten Commandments. Also, “thou shalt not steal”? The middle class is being squeezed, but it not being squeezed by the rich. That is where the lie is. It is being squeezed by the long list of entitlement programs by people who think entitlement is a way of life and everything belongs to everyone through redistribution. And it will be redistribution on a global level…so even middle class and low class will be “rich” by third world country standards. Class warfare is headed our way. People need to wake up to the fact that this is ALL a manipulation.

      Also, and this is critical. Did you hear what she said. “he has been on his medication”. PEOPLE WAKE UP. MEDICATION..MEDICATION..MEDICATION. The side effects of so many of the psychotropic and antidepressive medication are themselves nightmares. The first thing people need to start asking themselves when ever a kid shoots, kills, maims, commits suicide IS WHAT MEDICATION WERE THEY TAKING? Whenever a person does anything even closely resembling something like this, we need to be asking ‘WHAT MEDICATION WAS HE TAKING”. But, that question will never be asked nor answered because it is a politically incorrect thing to ask. MEDICATION SIDE EFFECTS…BECOME AWARE OF WHAT THEY ARE. There are other ways to meet the epidemic of depression, ADHD, etc. than thru medication with nightmare side effects.

Most people on this site welcome your contributions, both to this discourse, but also to society. This guy’s main contribution to society was saving us the cost of his medical recovery, trial and incarceration. So he was misunderstood? So what else would you expect when you are nuts (no pun intended on your handle). How do you stop this kind of terrorism, by everyone fully exercising their Second Amendment Rights just like you get to exercise most of your First Amendment Rights. This whole incident should have ended within seconds of it starting.

      Interesting how he didn’t actually shoot anyone, from 10 ft, and did you see the woman who tried to take his weapon after hitting him with her purse? He didnt even turn the gun on her… this was a suicide attempt, if not there would be a lot of empty school board positions atm.. The only thing that man ever stated with assuredness or coherency was that “[he] was gonna die today.”

      Hey all. When Beck talked about Bernait- (I am probably spelling it wrong) Freud’s propagandist cousin, I though I had heard his name before….In the same context, different issue.
      It was he who helped sell Fluoride in our water.
      Did you know that fluoride has a a side effect on our systems that causes apathy and complacence.
      Conservatives, wonder no longer about our nations drive to accomplish what is right and true. It’s really been watered down. Pun intended.
