Flashback: S.E. Cupp’s 2011 Interview With Paul Ryan Proves as Relevant Now As It Was Then

Last summer, TheBlaze’s S.E. Cupp interviewed Paul Ryan, asking the Wisconsin congressman a myriad questions which seem all the more relevant now that he is running for vice president.

The discussion was conducted during the budget deficit debate, where the nearly 14-year lawmaker made his mark among Republicans and Democrats alike by engineering the Ryan Budget. He explained that he was not the least bit surprised by the fact that Americans mistrust Washington and said the country is reaching a point where the majority of people are dependent upon government support.

There is a “net majority of takers versus makers,” he said of the formula that is only bound to worsen the debt crisis.

Among the many topics touched upon, Ryan spoke about his Catholic faith as a guiding beacon and addressed why he believes there is a strong and growing contingent of Catholic liberals. He ceded that he is, indeed, a policy “wonk” and was even asked at one point about the possibility of running for higher office in the future.

During the discussion, Ryan provided much insight into issues that are still as pertinent today as they were last summer and in retrospect, it is clear that the Wisconsin native will prove to be a formidable contender.

I placed my Romney sticker on my car, went to the store and was called a rich pig in the parking lot.
I work construction (20 pay cuts )and wife works part time as a grocery clerk (lost full time job), Always upgrading our double wide on a 1.5 acre lot. Nicest place on the street . But we always work and present our self with honor and class. We call ourselves the Trumps of the trailer park. A pig relies on others for it existence, a hog is free and must work and fight for it. Please call me a hog

I suppose that you are one of the 5 cars with a Romney sticker, and that you drive a Subaru. I also suppose you have Union sticker as well, and a COEXIST, sticker along with a rainbow stickers, and that you voted for Obama in 08′

The fact is that Paul Ryan is a progressive as we can see by his record:
      • Paul Ryan:
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL CISPA
UNCONSTITUTIONAL TARP (which ignited the Tea Party AGAINST HIM)
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Auto Bailouts
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Economic Stimulus 2008
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Economic Stimulus 2009
      Debt ceiling hikes
Comprehensive immigration reform without amnesty (AMNESTY)
UNCONSTITUTIONAL ending the “gun show loophole”
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Socialized employment (extending UC)
UNCONSTITUTIONAL Socialized education (No Child Left Behind)
UNCONSTITUTIONAL Socialized medicine (Medicare Prescription Drug “benefits”)
UNCONSTITUTIONAL Socialized housing (Section 8 vouchers)
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Head Start
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL “Patriot” Act
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL NDAA
      UNCONSTITUTIONAL Nation-building
      MORE UNCONSTITUTIONAL nation-building
UNCONSTIOh… I didn’t realize the Blaze reported on crowds. Ron Paul has done this many, many times and the FAKE-conservative Blaze hasn’t said boo.

I thought I was a conservative until this weekend. Then everybody started talking about how conservative Mitt Romney’s choice for VP is. I attended a few Tea Party events after all the bailouts and TARP because I was tired of watching our guys vote with the progressives. Paul Ryan has voted that way most of the time on economic issues. Auto bailout-yes TARP–yes He voted to tax AIG employees 100% to confiscate their bonuses. That is unconsitutional. We have a congressman here in Florida named Connie Mack who voted against all that and has a plan to bring down the debt not grow it like Paul Ryan”s plan. Boy, I hope our congressman doesn’t turn conservative!

I like when he says “Look at what Washington has done to them.” He’s right. Let’s do look at that Mr. Ryan. In fact, let’s look at what YOU have done to them.

    -Voted YES on TARP
-Voted YES on Economic Stimulus HR 5140
-Voted YES on $15B bailout for GM and Chrysler
-Voted YES on $192B additional anti-recession stimulus spending
-Voted YES on limited prescription drug (part D) for Medicare recipients.
-Voted YES on extending unemployment benefits from 39 weeks to 59 weeks
-Voted YES on Head Start Act
-Voted YES on No Child Left Behind Act
-Voted YES on making the PATRIOT Act permanent
-Voted YES on allowing electronic surveillance without a warrant.
-Voted YES on NDAA (extrajudicial killing of Americans)

Conservative darling? Hardly. I can‘t believe that I’d actually say that I’m more positive to Mitt Romney than Paul Ryan. While Romney prototyped Obamacare, enacted gun control and raised taxes/fees on small business in MA…at least he isn’t trying to play conservative darling. I guess I can at least appreciate that much.

Okay RINO’s, this is the part where you pile on. Go for it.

And so… my guess is you are going to vote for Obama? Is that right? Or are you just trying to show your massive internet research abilities? Maybe you are just someone who likes to throw bombs…

Seriously… you’re conservative and you are putting this crap out there? Why? To confuse more linguine-spined moderates who couldn’t make up their mind of what toilet tissue to buy?????

      Thanks, you friggin’ idiot.

    Gonna be a tough race.
    We need EVERY vote
(Especially with Obama stacking the deck)

Now it not the time for anything less than 100% push to get Obama out of the office.

    100%

    Nothing less.

Did you ever notice, however, there aren’t many ugly politicos. Therefore, please refer to my first sentence. Now…where was I ?) Look deep into my eyes, Mr. Horse’s Patoot.
