Flight Attendant Comes Clean About Dramatic ‘I Quit’ Moment

Remember former JetBlue flight attendant Steven Slater? He’s the one that grabbed a couple beers, popped the emergency slide on the airplane, and slid his way to take-this-job-and-shove-it stardom. He came clean to Larry King about the incident yesterday, and refreshingly took some responsibility for his actions:

Posted on October 29, 2010 at 11:58amWhile I don’t agree with what this man did (i.e., open the chute) I do agree, he should have just stepped aside (like most of us should) and taken a ‘time out’.
Everyone is slamming this man, but he sounds intelligent and I can understand this man’s frustration. Whenever I fly, I tell myself, This time I’m not going to care if passengers are rude, disorderly, whatever. And each time, I find myself getting annoyed when everyone blocks aisles to load their luggage during the embarkation and then stand up the minute the plane gets to the gate, etc. What’s with that? Wouldn’t it be more orderly for people to remain seated and disembark row by row the way they embarked?
The luggage explanation made perfect sense to me. This man had a cut on his head. The NYP has reported this man to be HIV postive, which I would imagine caused him concerned about his cut on the head.
He explains how he was upset because it seemed their was way too many oversized luggage. Why was JetBlue allowing oversized luggage on board? I know they don’t use those test bins! I’ve seen so much of this quite frankly, I’m annoyed.
And for those say they get less sleep…well, have you dealt with the public like these flight attendants? They sleep in layover cities, etc. I’ve seen so much on planes, it’s pathetic. I had an ‘overweight’ seat mate who brought on an entire box of pizza! When she was done with the box, she placed it under her seat, along with the rest of her crap. It’s bad enough when they load the bins, equally as bad when they load under their seats.
Perhaps we should be trading stories about flying experiences we‘ve had instead of judging this man because he just couldn’t take it anymore.
I’m concerned that there are so many Glenn Beck listeners who want to be so mean. We need to understand others.

Posted on October 27, 2010 at 1:30pm“I had a pretty good cut on my head at the time.” Har Har Har He Ha Har Har Hee Hee Har Hum!
It is my feeeling that this man (hee har humm) is emotionally confused. Why can’t we all just tolerate people, what’s up with DADT?
When I get on a plane, and I see Airline Attendants who appear to be confused, I get concerned about the message this is sending to my children. I am only being honest – I will add that it would be best for this behavior not to be displayed openly in public. Hey, it’s your right what goes on in your privacy and it will also be your judgement – same for everyone. I will say that this alternate lifestyle is a sin that needs to be forgiven and forgotten. Until then, it needs to be reproved.

Posted on October 27, 2010 at 12:52pmWhat i can‘t understand is why he wasn’t forced to at least pay for the replacement of the slide? I know for a fact that the replacement cost is approximately $25,000.They just don’t repack them as they are one use only.
