Fmr. Senator Claims Gunman Was ‘Angry’ Over Obamacare Repeal

Former Senator Bob Kerrey (D-Nebraska) appeared on Don Imus’s show this morning and made the unfounded accusation that Arizona gunman Jared Loughner was motivated by talk of repealing Obamacare (at about 2:00 below):

    He does seem reasonable accept for the point that he tried to make that one of the reasons that the shooter did this atrocity was a direct result of health care repeal. Come on… No one has any factual basis for this at all! I think the left is trying to reflect their anger onto this kid who did this!

      Good point. This fact is irrelevant. The man was irrational and violent before the Tea Party movement began. Logic and truth however, may only prevail in the long run. For those who believe in peace and truth, we can stand together, and in the long run, we will prevail – sticks and stones……….

    This story right here tells all the fools crying “stop with the politics’ to SHUT-UP! This is entirely driven by politics. Forgetting that, and not helping others to see it, is a mistake. I am sick and tired of allowing the lying left to control the dialogue. This is a Reichstag fire. They made the mess, people got hurt, and we need to let people see that. If we don’t, we‘ll be running into these creeps for years telling us how this was Glenn’s fault or Palin’s fault. A little girl was murdered by this LEFTIST animal! We can not let that fact slip away.

      I have to say up front that I consider myself a “Beckie” in that I listen and/or watch GB almost daily. I honestly can’t hear what the rest of you are hearing. Kerrey sounded pretty reasonable to me. He did say the maybe the guy was upset over healthcare, but with his next breath he said he didn’t know anything for sure except the guy was insane. Maybe I‘m the one that’s wrong, but I can‘t see anything to beef about here except that the Blaze headline makes you think that it’s a much more emphatic indictment than what I heard. Are the rest of you sure you listened to the full audio, or did you just read the headline and a little of the text?

      There was no reason to insert the immigration nor the healthcare issue into this. When you make a supposition then retract it most people who are looking for any reason behind this crime will latch onto this misinformation if they are not informed of the truth. The man should not interject politics into this when he has no facts. He is trying to paint the shooter as a right wing nut.

      @Kate
      With all due respect I think you‘re hearing things that aren’t there. Imus asks him if he thinks it’s a good idea to suspend business in the House. He replies that he does think it’s a good idea especially since healthcare was something this guy was mad about. Then he says that he knows that real problem is that the guy is troubled, or insane, and says we shouldn’t pay any attention to whatever his politics are. That isn’t anywhere close to an insertion on my part. Nor did I take it that he was attempting to present it as a fact. He admitted that he didn’t know for sure; who could?

      I’ve posted on two other related stories what you are suggesting. The Sheriff, and Rep. Brady are totally irresponsible, for different reasons, in their statements. But, I don’t see it here. I’m just not someone who needs one hundred percent agreement from someone else to be able to see their point. I like fair and balanced. Many time I see the prevailing attitude here as agree with me or you’re unbalanced (or worse). But, like I also said in my first post, I could be wrong.

Spent part of the morning trying to catch two dogs that apparently escaped their yard (speed limit 55mph in front of my house) and was finally successful. Hope their owners will claim them soon as the youngster is far too curious about my cats to suit me.
      Very sad the events of the weekend and brings life suddenly back to reality, and not in a good way. I wish the bickering would stop, but I know it is just part of our environment now, even thought it makes me sad to think this is the way my grandchildren will learn about life – certainly not like their parents did.

The first thing anyone should have said to Kerrey is “And you know this how?” Considering the dope sherrif was complaining that Loughner isn‘t cooperating and a later news story said he won’t be speaking outside the courtroom, I don’t see as how ANYONE is able to ascribe a motive to the guy.
