After ACLU Threats, School District Will Cover Up Religious Symbols During Graduation Ceremony

Talk about breaking with tradition.
Following a long-winded controversy, the ACLU has struck an agreement with New Jersey’s Neptune Township school board. In response to one individual‘s complaint over the presence of religious symbols at last year’s commencement ceremony, the district will make substantial changes to this year’s event.

In an effort to ease tensions and avoid an unwarranted court battle, officials will cover up the few religious symbols that are present inside the Ocean Grove Great Auditorium. Additionally, students and families will be forced to enter through a side door to avoid walking under a 20-foot cross that is positioned above the front entrance of the building. According to NBC New York, the ACLU is pleased with the agreement:
ACLU communications director Katie Wang told the Asbury Park Press the group is satisfied all can enjoy the graduation “without feeling like outsiders based on religious differences.”
Interestingly, NBC describes the woman who complained after last year’s event as “non-district.” The school has been holding graduations at the historical location without incident for the past 60 years and, to date, no families have come forward to report that the symbols offend them.
So, while tax-paying, district families seem to have no problem with the traditional nature of the event, an individual with no official ties to the school has caused quite a stir. For now, though, it seems the debate has been settled.

Posted on May 26, 2011 at 7:11pmWow. Well now. Let’s make sure that no American Flag is shown at graduation. I mean someone might be against America and our Flag however, they want to attend the graduation so they will force others to do what they want. Maybe someone is against “anything” and throws a snit. Maybe someone is against the sky since it, too, could be defined as a creation of a religious idol.
Here’s a thought, according to some, men and women shouldn‘t be in the same school or graduation together either so let’s have two separate graduations and everyone in the crowd has to wear a burka (men and women alike). Heck, we can wait for all the guys to grow a beard.
It‘s a building people and it’s able to house the ceremony. Grow up.

Posted on May 26, 2011 at 7:09pmWell “I” am NOT pleased! To let ONE person be the cause of something like this absolutely DISGUSTS me. This type of thing has gone way to far and MY hope is that the families of this school BOYCOTT the graduation exercises at this school and decide to have it in a CHURCH. Apparently its OK to have the gay flag, the atheists get what they want, the Muslims are never bothered, no matter they do, it boils down to the CHRISTIANS. We CHRISTIANS apparently are ALWAYS wrong, called hate mongers, etc. So be it.
The Bible tells us we will be persecuted in the end days for His name sake and thats the way it shall be. I’ll stand for MY Lord and I hope the Christians of that school will stand for Him also. I like grandmaof5′s idea for each student to carry a cross with them. If they don’t boycott I say GO FOR IT….carry the cross with you and when you say “thank you” add, “thank you Jesus or Lord” Step up and don’t allow the ACLU to run your life. Begin your adult life the way you want it to continue, in faith and with a mind of your own. Happy graduation and may the Lord bless you all your lives! “Every knee will bow and every tongue confess”

While I realize their humanity, and can love the sinner, their sin is repulsive. It is just as wrong for them to force themselves and their views on us. They fool themselves and one day soon they will be asked to explain themselves. The sad part is most have no idea that Jesus will judge them, and it won’t be good. It is sad to see people send themselves to hell.

Report Post »Thankfully God gave you the free will to choose to believe in Him or not, there is nothing “wrong” with disbelief… it is a choice given to you by the one you deny. What is WRONG is when one of you disbelievers decide that since YOU choose to disbelieve and cannot seem to tolerate any symbol that represents the other side, then you have the right to demand that the offence be removed from your sight. I really don’t like the way some people dress in public, mixing stripes and plaid- not what I believe is proper you know, it is offensive to me and goes against my beliefs, so then does it give me the right to complain and expect that everyone one else must stop wearing stripes and plaid? It is so stupid and unbelievable that non-believers think that anyone expressing their belief is somehow trying to force that belief on the non-believer. Would be just as stupid for me to believe that someone wearing stripes and plaid are trying to force me to do the same because I have seen them.
Perhaps, just perhaps, the problem is that you who choose to disbelieve truly are uncomfortable around those symbols because of the place God put in your heart, for HIM, and you choose to deny it….. perhaps it is GUILT, It is wrong for your guilt to force me to try to prevent it by removing what causes it. Not my problem.

nothing wrong with a godless person, most people , even those completley devoid of any theism still have hints of ethical compliance,
the problem is godlessness as an instituion, because no matter how “YOU” feel about wrong and right and your level of involvement in either direction, you must understand, that fundamental atheism is a denial of ethics and an attempt of ignore the spiritual conviction of ones “duty” to act according to the constraints of societel decency
so lets be blunt about this, im sure your a good person and dont want to see anyboyd harmed as are most people with or without faith, but if there is no god, then there is no final responsibility for ones actions on this planet nor can there be found any true respect for life,
only in the daydreams of fools can there be found the themes of anarchy an atheism alongside a stable and just society, the fear of an unavoidable judgement has kept society in check for a long time, especially in times of lawlessness you are just taking for granted the freedoms, that those of religious zeal have afforded for you.
you may think atheism cool , but you are in no way ready to live in a “only the strong survive” society which is the inevitable conclusion of the godless opportunism that will sweep a world devoid of the themes of love, compassion, righteousness, or dignity

NPBREAKTHROUGH explained pretty well about how a person who is “godless” (especially if you have a majority) brings anarchy, disorder, more immorality problems which affect society in all kinds of negative/harmful ways (diseases, dysfunctional families, etc.) That’s one of the reasons Consvs. are upset about the homosexual lifestyle being promoted, along w/abortion on demand, etc. For those that are sincerely asking, check out all the wise statements made by our Founders. We HAD to have a standard to base our laws of this new nation. They realized that a domocratic republic would be best – based on Biblical principles. They warned about leaving those — if that happened – they said our nation would fall — you cannot continue in a healthy manner otherwise. If the godless are offended they could skip it, as I would if I were one of them. To call them godless puke is really rude. You sure arn’t going to reach anyone that way. If I was an athiest, I would not want to have anything to do with God, because of the way some people represent Him. Sure hope someone with more kidness witnesses to them. Remember – they were created by God, and He loves them. Try to remember that-we will have to answer for every action that we do. Hope you can find some compassion for the still lost people that God created. Yes it’s annoying to have to “change” things for a few, and yes if it was a symbol that I detested I would simply not attend. That being said we can still voice our displeasure without being such butts.

Posted on May 27, 2011 at 12:38amIn answer to the question of what is wrong with being GOD-less: Nothing so long as your religious views are not pushed onto others. Atheism is a religion by the way. (The belief that there is no GOD.) When you force others to remove things from view that are there and have been there for a long time, that is forcing your views onto others. If you truly believe that GOD is not real then having a cross on a building should not bother you because at that point it would be an empty symbol or just a decoration. The rage that some atheist feel, makes me think that they have doubts about there beliefs and do not wish to be confronted with the possibility they are wrong.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 7:23amIts a republic where one person can disrupt many and we live in a republic not a democracy. That said, The ACLU and other organizations like it, need to be truthful in their battle against Christianity. What you are not being told is the other side of the coin. Why does the ACLU care so much about this one person and very little about the Christians in the United States? The Answer lies in Colossians 2:8 which is a result to Paul’s trip to Athens (Acts 17:15). There the Apostle Paul bantered with believers in the Stoic doctrine of philosophy.
Moving foreword 1800 years we find that this Stoic doctrine is the same doctrine which Hegel used to complete his work and which he taught to his students (the young hegelians) which included Marx & Engels, the Bauer brothers, Feuerbach and Sterner, all who argued against Hebrew-Christian doctrine. Henri Saint Simon and Darwin both believed in Stoic doctrine. Gustavo Merino used Stoic doctrine to create Liberation Theology (the bible according to Marx & Engels).
The ACLU is made up of mostly believers in Stoic doctrine (of one form or another). Its the mission of the ACLU to irradiate Christian doctrine from the United States, and replace it with Stoic doctrine. This doctoral paradigm shift is the fundamental transformation which Mr Obama spoke of. Currently some nearly 40% of Americans believe in Stoic doctrine, its the focus of Mr Obama to force this belief to over 50% (a majority). Mr Obama is a Zealot of Stoic doctrine

I doubt it. Homosexuals just want to be accepted as equal members of society. They do not dictate any prohibitions to others, as Christians do. They have never burned others at the stake, denied them the right to divorce or have an abortion, etc. Homosexuals can fly their flag wherever they like, as far as I am concerned, because that flag symbolizes their joy at being alive. The Christian message and symbolism is much more sinister, and has a dangerous history. This is why we have a separation of church and state.

It says Congress shall make no law… Did you get that? C-O-N-G-R-E-S-S, not the state, not a judge, not the ACLU, CONGRESS! That only means Congress cannot establish a state religion. As far as the queers are concerned, I do not accept their lifestyle, but they can live as they wish…Just as I have a right to live and worship as a Christian. I don’t try and cram my religion down your throat so please stop trying to cram your queer (or THE queer) lifestyle down mine. That my friend is tolerance. Your idea of tolerance is code word for prejudice and discrimination against Christians. Until then, Towns Business and Individuals will choose to capitulate rather than
be sued into submission. And Make NO mistake, they ARE suing into submission.
The other alternative is to elect a conservative government that will go after the ACLU

Let them run scared.
Graduations should be held in a Non religous building, unless this is a private school.
I don’t know what the Far Right is complaining about, aren’t their kids being home schooled?

Report Post »Oh Wait!!..I know! It’s because we sit there and take it. That incrementalism is how we got to the mess we now find ourselves in.
The liberals got their way by demanding the letter if the law and “equal treatment” of grievances. It past time we turn the table around and demand the same treatment.
Is anyone offended by the disrespect shown to the honor of the school by one (1) person?

When this story first broke I wanted to send money to these people in Neptune New Jersey to help them fight. I did not pursue my instinct.
I am partly responsible for their COWARDLY behavior.
This is a victory that the MONSTROUS ACLU should NEVER have been able to celebrate.
I abetted the ACLU “Victory”.

@AKMIIKEUS
and the others of the same ilk….perhaps a reading lesson would be in order…..
Amendment 1 -
Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.
Pay special attention to the part that says or PROHIBITING the free exercise thereof.
for those on the short bus – all ACLU actions (and your ideas) PROHIBIT the free exercise and are unconstitutional.
Prohibiting free exercise is the unconstitutional part of all of this. Individuals or school systems for that matter can’t by any stretch of the imagination, by their actions, words or deeds, be confused as the Congressional Body of the US legislating a demand religion.
You are free to not believe but you are not free to prohibit my expression or exercise in the Public Square….

Separation of church and state is not a right, nor even metioned in the Constitution. It is misconstrued from a letter that Thomas Jefferson wrote to the Danbury Baptist’s Association in 1802. It actually reads “…I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between Church & State.”
Gays and Christians alike deserve that same respect and non-interference… we are ALL free men under the law, protected by the Constitution.

Posted on May 28, 2011 at 7:02amThis is a prime example of the fundamental transformation which Mr Obama spoke of. The symbols at this School represent Christian doctrine, its believers in Stoic doctrine who want the Christian symbols removed or covered up. Stoic doctrine is the base doctrine of Hegel and his students (Marx & Engels, Feuerbach, Bauer, Sterner etc), who all spoke out against Hebrew – Christian doctrine due to their us of the Stoic dialectic.
American Christians miss the fact, that Stoic doctrine exists, and that it is the number one belief in the world, even though Paul himself identified it in Colossians 2:8 concerning his visit to Athens (Acts 17:15). Its the plans of Mr Obama and his supporters, that the USA undergo a complete transformation over to Stoic doctrine. About 40-45% of the people in the USA, have given up on Christian doctrine and now believe in Stoic doctrine. Mr Obama is attempting to force that leverage past 50% (a majority).
This covering of Christian symbols at a school system is simply one more lever of force used by the Stoics to drive Christian doctrine from the United States, This is the fundamental Transformation which Mr. Obama spoke of. The shift of the United States from believers in Christian doctrine to believers in Stoic doctrine. And don’t let Mr Obama fool you, he is no Christian, he believes in a form of Stoic doctrine called Liberation Theology (bible according to Marx & Engels) which is taught by James Cone and his mentor Gustavo Merino.
