US UPDATE: For Standing With Beck, Media Matters Claims Palin Supports Terrorism

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin rebuffed Media Matters’ requests to repudiate “erratic” TV and radio host Glenn Beck with a call into his radio program Thursday morning, saying, “I stand with you, Glenn.”

[F]rom my kitchen table in Wasilla here’s the deal. You are up against one of the richest…and most powerful men in the world…the extreme left wing king, with many, many minions! So when I speak of your love of our Founding Fathers, and how you’re helping to educate Americans about respecting our nation’s history so we don’t lose what makes America exceptional. And the far left wing mouth pieces their twisting and spinning and perverting that message. I go back to what Abraham Lincoln said about standing anybody with who stand with anybody that stands right…I stand with you, Glenn.

Palin went on to deride Media Matters’ “pathetic” and “desperate” attempts to silence Beck.

By Thursday afternoon, Media Matters was condemning Palin’s remarks, go so far as to claim she supports violence and acts of domestic terrorism.  Media Matters’ founder and CEO David Brock released the following statement:

On Tuesday, I asked Sarah Palin to use her influential voice to stop attempted incidents of domestic terrorism incited by right-wing extremists like Glenn Beck. By telling Beck, ‘I stand with you,’ Palin — Fox News’ star contributor — now associates herself with acts of violence and the insane conspiracy theories and hate speech behind them.

Rather than seize the opportunity to act in the national interest and do her part to prevent a major tragedy like the Oklahoma City bombing, Palin called into Beck‘s show to call me ’pathetic.‘ While Palin and I don’t agree on much, I honestly believed we shared the view that the incitement to violence by a powerful media outlet was a national crisis that transcends the partisan divide. Sadly, I was wrong.

The progressive People for the American Way is also working with Media Matters in a boycott of Beck’s programming and the Fox News Channel.  The group’s president, Michael Keegan, joined Media Matters in denouncing Palin, comparing her friendship with Beck to President Obama’s past ties to leftist radical Bill Ayers:

For someone who was so quick to smear Obama for ‘palling around with terrorists,‘ Sarah Palin doesn’t seem to take threats of violence too seriously when they’re generated by her own pals and allies. Even the last few days have seen disturbing thuggery in states around the country.  This shouldn’t be a partisan issue.  Democrats, Republicans, independents and even tea party members should be able to agree that inciting listeners to violence isn’t acceptable.  It‘s profoundly disappointing that someone laying the groundwork to run for president doesn’t agree with that.

Are the people of Media Matters complete idiots? Or are they just infantile? Everyone who does not condemn Beck is a terrorist? And where is the proof that Beck has done anything besides preach peace and love?

An open memo to Media Matters by me, just a plain citizen:

Boycott on, who cares. Submit press releases, who cares.

You’re outnumbered. America is a center right country and we’re going to show you in numbers on Tuesday. Your agenda stinks, you‘ve almost financially tanked the country and you’re only preaching to your own gradually dwindling choir.

I’m no apologist for anyone here, but you’re being laughed at. Literally. Belly laughs. Guffaws interspersed with small chuckles and dimples.

    We…just…don’t…care.

That WAS your power. We were interested in what you thought, what you had to say, your position on things, getting along, being polite, being involved in our own lives.

You know what changed? WE did. We’re not listening to you anymore. You’ve run your number, you‘ve played your same perjorative tapes over and over until it’s just so much white noise in the background. Buzzing. Static. Irrelevant.

Seriously, we don’t care anymore. We’re moving forward and you can do what you want. Boycott or don’t. Yell, or don’t. Run for office, push an agenda, hold a rally, hold your breath. It..just..doesn’t…matter…anymore.

We’re done. In two short years, the left has finally jumped the shark so completely, so far, so ridiculously that you’ve revealed yourself as idiots with a complete and utter inability to lead. You had complete and utter power to move the world and instead of being responsible and working to solve America’s most serious and pressing problems, we got unwanted healthcare literally and figuratively rammed down our throats.

You failed. You failed at your primary focus and our primary need. So what you say really doesn’t matter much, now. Do you understand that you could put out ten press releases and we’re still not going to pay attention, the attention that you so desperately crave?

And therein lies OUR power. Our greatest weapon is to ignore you. So we will. Buh-bye. Adios. Seeya.

Please pass this message on to George for us too so I don’t have to repeat myself. This subject isn’t worth two posts.

The liberal press is coming in with a full court press trying to twist and/or silence the truth. I say boycott their programming. If enough people joined in and tuned these networks out, eventually their advertisers would look elsewhere to sell their wares. Personally, I can’t remember the last time I watched major network programming other than sports and I give great thanks that Fox covers football. I also catch replays on the NFL channel. I am following the World Series on line.

I hope Sarah finds cause to sue MM for defamation. They can’t make it on their own in the arena of ideas which is why they need Georgie Boy Soros to line their pockets. Brock is pathetic, to say the least.

I agree. Beck needs to sue this fool for defamation of character. Glenn Beck has NEVER encouraged violence. He has instead very publicly opposed violence and called for his fellow citizens to make a peaceful stand and to vote. This Mr. David Brock is a lier. As the CEO of Media Matters, he needs to suffer some consequences for this behavior.

Come on Blaze there are far more bigger problems – our Beautiful GOD given country is headed over the cliff and this is what you guys want to zoom in on???

These folks were relentless in attempting to destroy Sara and her families character in 2008 and assisting in getting the worst, undocumented president installed in the White House in US history. Calling on Sara to assist in shutting down GB for exposing these punks for who they are is patriotic.

Thank you Sara… for taking this opportunity to join GB in raising both your middle fingers to these communist!

New Democrat talking points: Either stand with us, or you are ‘inciting’ violence (i.e. this period is like the crystal night in Germany).

Huffington Post has a entire list of all the violence on right …. As in chess or debate, what is the counter? Truth doesn’t count.

Glenn is a true hero and leader of the American people. God raises up leaders for every generation to help lead us into the truth. He never leaves us without hope. Glenn shares his wisdom with us, encourages us to focus on what’s important, God, integrity, values. The dark hates it when the light is cast upon it. God bless you Glenn, for being a positive, peaceful force for America. We pray God’s protection over you as you continue to do His will as an American patriot and hero.

Truly, I could care less what they think or say… but, I do fear for Glenn. I also fear that they will incite violence and then blame Glenn. We hear him denounce violence every day… so, to be honest… every time I hear them speak… I feel like I’m in the twilight zone.
