INDIANAPOLIS (AP) — A woman who ran unsuccessfully for U.S. Congress last year has been charged with making threats against Indiana judges on her Facebook account.
Fifty-one-year-old Cheryl Allen of Martinsville, Ind., was being held on $100,000 bond Saturday. She was arrested Thursday on eight felony counts of intimidation.
Prosecutor Steve Sonnega says he was among the targets and turned over the investigation to state police and a special prosecutor. He says he decided to err on the side of caution after last week’s shootings in Arizona that wounded U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords and killed six others.
Allen maintained her innocence at a court hearing Friday.
Police say Allen posted threats against four local judges and other officials Monday.
Allen said Friday she wasn’t threatening anyone. She told the court she has been hospitalized once for mental issues, but nothing was wrong with her. During Thursday’s probable cause court hearing, ISP officials say Allen was a clear and present threat.
Allen has made Facebook friends with nearly 300 people including both state and local politicians. Her alleged victims include the Morgan County prosecutor who asked state police to get involved. Detectives say she posted serious bodily threats against the prosecutor, other elected officials and staff personnel.
“One day, I will have my revenge on your seeking so much revenge on me. Jane, Tom, Matt, Chris, Steve, Monte, Eric, Vickie, Carol, Larry, Debbie, William (Bill), Mike, Penny, etc.,” she wrote in one post.
In another posting, she threatened to blow up their offices.
“Right below that, it said, ‘I won’t have to lift a finger. One day you are sitting in your office…kaboom!” Allen said. “Yeah, I do believe that they will finally get it one of these days. Someday, somebody will, they will be sitting there and something will happen, they will finally get it.”
She stops short of saying that she will be the one that gives it to them. She says it is all about karma and a divine intervention.

Posted on January 15, 2011 at 9:25pmAnyone that would threaten a federal judge has to be less than sane, but needs to be taken out of the mainstream, shes dangerous. Indiana is very lucky she lost and so were conservitives. Her actions were more than just getting caught up in the realties of our times. Ya just dont threaten without consequences, sane or not sane. Its a shame though that, that doesnt apply across the board.

Posted on January 15, 2011 at 9:17pmWe are now living in a climate of hyper-sensitivity. Sometimes people voice their anger in inappropriate ways. Have you ever said, “I’ll kill you!” to someone you were very mad at? We all have at some time in our lives, yet we never act on it because we were just angry and venting our anger. But in light of Tucson, we can’t even do that.
Report Post »In retrospect, perhaps she shouldn’t have written it on Facebook, and perhaps she is somewhat unstable, but I doubt she is a murderer. They will look at her past, check her priors, and evaluate her, give her a light sentence, and move on to other things. This isn’t going to go very far unless they find a dark past on her.

All these democrat Nuts say horrible things, and get away with it. Insighting hatred, and they are applauded. This woman seems a mental case, and should never have threatened anyone. But where all the all investigations into the people who made the Tweets against Sarah Palin? That was some of the most disgusting stuff I have seen in a long time. Even my Democrat (he thinks) husband, said that the FBI needs to investigate these things. They were horrible. I just think, that this world cannot go on much longer with God watching. He has to look on us a another Sodom and Gammorah. I don’t know how else he could see us. People, do no harm. I can’t imagine a civilized human being, wishing death or disease on anyone. There is NO ONE I hate bad enough to wish terrible things on them, and trust me, I have plenty of folks I dislike. Most people THINK some things that they would never say. Some people just don’t know when to keep their mouths shut. I am sure I have been guilty of this also.

Posted on January 16, 2011 at 3:00pmMost derogatory comments on the internet are done in haste, just because somebody is angry behind their computer screen doesn’t warrant “The Minority Report”…there has to be more to this story to warrant locking this woman up!
Freedom of speech is not a crime in its self, normally authorities will work under cover to get a person on video being proactive “paying” or acting out such a thing as a hit on somebody’s life!

Those who would give up Essential Liberty to purchase a little Temporary Safety, deserve neither Liberty nor Safety. There I said it I am sure that will soon get you put in jail as a threat.
The woman is a pig and probably wrong on many levels, I guess I would rather be free to speak then get a warm fuzzy about what is clearly a very minor safety issue. Give me liberty or give me death is that now a threat as well? Wake up Sheepepole! do not even see the nose being put around your necks this government is no long for the people in any shape or foam they are for the government and of the government and there to protect the government only. If that were the case why wasn’t Alec Baldwin arrested for this outrageous outburst on late night television: “We would stone Henry Hyde to death and we would go to their homes and we’d kill their wives and their children. We would kill their families.” Liberals always get a free ride when it comes to threatening someones well being – especially if that someone is a conservative.

Posted on January 15, 2011 at 10:23pmThe political elite are running scared. So far I don’t see what she did was anything close to threatening personally except for naming those she felt wanted her out of the political arena. The rest of the comments noted would be made by any God loving person who would let God deal with the situation.
I did this with a situation in 1988 at Boeing Commercial Aircraft, when I was fired after returning from a two week Army Reserve yearly “Summer Camp” required by my 8 year term of enlisment. Those in charge of my work area would always create some sort of chaos for me by trying ot force me to work overtime against my religious beliefs. I had requested that my paycheck be available at the front office as it had been for a few years with another leader in charge. The new people just blew me off for a one day early release to deposit the check so that I would have cash when I was on my time in the Military. They told me that all was set but as I went to pick up the check I was told it was not ready and I needed to talk to the leaders in charge to get it… So I rushed to get back to work, other side of the parking lot and with shift change just occuring they ran out of their as fast as they could and the person in charge on that shift was unwilling to help and I politely told him that he needed anna nicole under his desk to get out of a wet paper lunch bag and even that would not be enough help. No cursing but just imaginative language.
But when I got back from my two weeks they had a way to create an incident since they felt scare because I had recently been reprimanded for not working overtime and a 15rd clip from my handgun that was in the pocket of my coat fell out on to my toolbox when I rolled up my coat to lay on top of the toolbox.
After that firing all my friends asked my what I was going to do and I said nothing but let God take care of these so called leaders if they had tried to injure my reputation or anything close to that. Three later or there abouts I hear stories of these same people that gave me trouble were in trouble themselves, one was fired on sexual harassment charges, another was demoted for fraudulent handling of company time cards for job costing. And some others were removed from their leadership roles and moved around the company.
So if this is what she is saying then she is actually being peaceful in a stormy situation. It is what I would recommend for others that are accused of being wronged by evil doers.

Posted on January 15, 2011 at 11:33pmYou are right Grandma! Scary thing is this is exactly what the radicals want, they need violence. They have been putting us in the vice and tightening it slowly. One pressure after another. They know eventually people will snap, they are counting on it. They don’t care if their left or right, they just need violence. So when something like this happens, instead of trying to keep everyone calm they get out and start pointing fingers, bashing, antagonizing, egging people on.
I pray for our country, I fear its only going to get worse :(
