Former Press Sec. Gibbs Could Land New Job…At Facebook

From the White House to Facebook? That could end up being the path of one of the Obama administration’s most notorious figures. According to the New York Times, former Press Secretary Robert Gibbs, who left the White House in February, is reportedly in talks about taking a communications job at one of Silicon Valley’s hottest companies.
“The talks are still at an early stage and no formal offer has been made,” sources told the Times, “warning that it remained possible the discussions could collapse.”
The job would reportedly be “a senior role in helping to manage the company’s communications.”
According to the Times, Gibbs is being courted to the tune of a multi-million dollar salary as well as some lucrative stock options ahead of the estimated $60 billion-company’s decision to take its stock public.
But the decision to join Facebook would probably also mean a decision not to work on President Obama’s re-election campaign. The Times says Facebook is “pressuring” Gibbs to make a decision much quicker than the end of the campaign.
Since Facebook’s movie debut in the film “The Social Network,” the company has come under additional scrutiny and could use another experienced communications official. Any position for Gibbs, however, would likely report to Elliot Schrage, Facebook’s vice president for global communications, marketing and public policy, who joined the company from Google in 2008.
And just in case you wanted to start the jokes about who or what Gibbs “likes,” Gawker says don’t:

That temptation may be too great for some.

I also recommend NOT using Google ANYTHING on your computer. [try removing all Google items and see how deeply they are imbedded in your computer]

I think it will be a good thing for Gibbs to try to control the vast numbers of us on Facebook who are campaigning against the President and every other Progressive in government, whether they have an R or D after their name. I think it will be good for his character to realize that he and his cohorts are completely outnumbered by great numbers of very grim and determined Americans who do actually love their country, and love it deeply enough to sacrifice to save her.

I find Twitter to be a complete bore, I mean, how annoying can something get? Tweet alerts to let me know Joe is home and drinking a beer on his porch, Tyler Florence has a new recipe, and Charlie Sheen is drinking tiger blood while looking in the mirror…Yay…In fact, I use no RSS feeds and usually have my IM off. I am a private person and while I use my computer almost constantly in my work I will not succumb to this social networking crap.
