Former Reagan, Bush Aide Found Dead in Del. Landfill

DOVER, Del. (AP) — Police in Delaware are investigating the slaying of a man who served in several GOP presidential administrations whose body was found at a landfill near Wilmington.

The body of 66-year-old John Wheeler III of New Castle was discovered on New Year’s Eve as a garbage truck emptied its contents at the Cherry Island landfill. His death has been ruled a homicide.

Wheeler had a long career in Washington and led the committee that oversaw construction of the Vietnam Veterans memorial there.

    Very sad indeed. A landfill, how broken the family must be. In Holmes county Ohio today they have a 10 year old boy in custody for shooting his mother in the head killing her. There are days I wonder if there are enough of us praying that can possibly cover all those needing prayer in a single day?

    Media reports keep saying squables with his neighbors……..please that to me sounds like a diversion from the real facts….Mr Wheeler stepped on somebodies toes and he paid the ultimate price, thats my opinion. GOD Bless his family.

    Call Olbermann and find out where he was recently. Had to have been one of those radical peaceniks that did this. Anti-war and anti-violence, unless you are targeting someone who disagrees with your position, in which case you can be justified in killing them.

    Holy crap! I live in New Castle! Thats where I take my trash. Like the rest of you I do not know the reason for the murder, hopefuly it is not political! New Castle Co. is an extreamly liberal County. Maby I should watch my back i’m always ******* off progressives! People in this town have an insane hatred of G.W. Bush, and when they loose a debate with a well informed conservitive they storm off while saying “I hate people like you!” My prayers go out to John Wheeler and his family and I hope justice is served quickly.

    How can a man with such a honorable life, be so dishonored in death? Not only the loss of his life, but the disposal of his body… What do you suppose the over/under is on how long it takes the Huffington Post to try to blame this on a violent Tea Party type? Or has that dog stopped hunting? Have they given up on trying to make us the bad guys yet? Because they’re CLEARLY, nakedly, shamelessly inciting violence among their acolytes… so is this maybe the start? I feel sick.

      Annie, I read the Huffington Post so you don’t have to.

      As of now, they’re simply reporting the story with a link to a Delaware news site.

      Of the half dozen or so who have commented on it there, none has suggested that the Tea Party had anything to do with it.

    Many unanswered questions…was he reported as “missing” by anyone prior to his body being found? Bet this is one that NEVER gets solved…Was he standing in the way of someone’s agenda?…obviously someone wanted him removed…How sad…hope they give him a special military funeral…

      @leftfighter I 1000% agree with you. Heres one scenero Look at the newest wacked out member of the Supreme Court, she advocated against ROTC on Havards playgrounds and Mr Wheeler advocated for ROTC on Ivy league school grounds…..just sayin….An investment in a “CHICAGO TYPEWRITER” sounds like a good one. If you know history than you know what I’m talking about.

      I certainly agree with that!

      I also apologize for how calloused my post sounded, I really did not intend it that way. I just wanted to make the statement that we had all better choose our eternity while we are still breathing because we are not promised tomorrow.

      Wheeler’s murder is certainly very sad and I hope they can get to the bottom of it. It does not smell political to me though. I could be wrong.

      SnowLeopard — It was Vince Foster, actually, and I will never forget him. For me, he became the poster boy of Clinton era disappearances. I will never be convinced he committed suicide.
