Former Russian Gen.: Russia Is ‘Defending the Entire World From Fascism,’ Is Ready to Use Military Power to Defend Iran, Syria

Russian Col. Gen. Leonid Ivashov Says Russia Is Ready to Use Military Power to Defend Iran and Syria

Former member of Russian Joint Chiefs of Staff Colonel-General Leonid Ivashov appeared on Russia Today TV to boldly announce that Russia is “defending the entire world from Fascism” — waged, of course, by the U.S. and Israel — and that his country is ready to use military force to defend Iran and Syria from its aggressors. He added that an attack on Syria or Iran would be an indirect attack on Russia. The retired colonel also compared U.S. presence in Libya to Hitler and his armies’ aggression against Poland and later, Russia.

The Following are excerpts from an interview with Ivashov on RT February 1, 2012. Translations provided by the ever-vigilant staff at MEMRI:

Interviewer: “Dr. Leonid, do you think that these preparations and very large maneuvers, which will soon be conducted by Russia, are meant as preparation for war, or rather, a military strike against Iran?” […]

Leonid Ivashov: “These maneuvers and training will demonstrate Russia’s readiness to use military power to defend its national interests and to bolster its political position. The maneuvers show that Russia does not want any military operations to be waged against Iran or Syria. I assume that the people in the West and in Israel who design the schemes for a large geopolitical operation in the greater Middle East region draw a direct connection between the situation in Syria and in Iran. Indeed, these two countries are allies, and both are considered guaranteed partners of Russia. The only question, therefore, is who they will try to destroy first as a stable country: Syria or Iran. […]

“A strike against Syria or Iran is an indirect strike against Russia and its interests. Russia would lose important positions and allies in the Arab world. Therefore, by defending Syria, Russia is defending its own interests.

“In addition, Russia is thus defending the entire world from Fascism. Everybody should acknowledge that Fascism is making strides on our planet. What they did in Libya is nearly identical to what Hitler and his armies did against Poland and then Russia. Today, therefore, Russia is defending the entire world from Fascism.”

Huge cluster**** of confusion, It‘s like Soap Opera’s only real people’s lives are being destroyed. It is actually amazing to me that we haven’t had “The Big One” already! All the countries of the world are run by G_D Danged Preschoolers. I don’t think we can pull out of this “Liberal train-wreck”. America is done for, (well at least the America I remember) and I am actually starting to think maybe it is for the better, look if we can‘t get along or at least be smart enough to avoid the problem’s that we have on our doorstep then to hell with it “Let’s Roll” This is how it will end anyway eventually. I would like to take part in the battle before I am too old to fight back. The world has been stripped of morality by the left and I have ZERO faith that those of us who still have morals can spread it fast enough nor far enough to avoid the end of mankind at our own hands.

      Israel is standing all alone in the Middle East no thanks to the policy of this administration. Once israel defends herself against Iran and or Syrai, Russia will use that as their excuse to jump in. Where is the USA courtesy of the man-child Obama. No where to be found. We can expect BIG…BIG problems if we enter into a world war with all these folks. No way to fight a war like that on three fronts. And there would be more joining the chorus if the US steps in.       I believe that the General is absolutely correct. Russia now more resembles what our Founding Fathers had envisioned than does the US.

      I’ve been thinking for years about getting out of this country. Knowing history and what I see developing should literally scare the living hell out of every red blooded American. Far too many people are just clueless to the reality of what is transipiring before their very eyes and far too many Americans would be quick to kill their fellow citizens if their President gave them the order..

      People like myself who love our US Constitution and love my Founding Fathers are becoming a minority in America. While it may be tempting to try an get out while the getting is good I’ll probably just stay and spill my blood for the US Constitution although I think that the odds are incredibly stacked against us.

      Besides any Patriot from America would never be fully accepted in Russia and we’d likely be stuck on the front lines of any global conflict..

      You are entirely misled. America erred in allying with the Russians in WW2. They were an extremely wicked evil Marxist nation.. From 1917 till about 1988 Russia was an enemy of the US Constitution and everything it represents; however, the new gov‘t in Russia is simply a Nationalist gov’t looking out for the interests of Russia. In my opinion they are far closer to what our Founders had in mind for America than where we are today.

      Do not listen to the American Jewish run Media and FOX News. All they do is lie and promote perversion along with Israeli interests. Russia is the only country today standing up for Sovereignty and believe many Americans could learn a useful lesson on the principles of sovereignty today.

      Flip the script:

      Mexico has violence and uprisings from the Cartels. Russia is openly discussing either a strike or boots on the ground to topple the corrupt Mexican Government and to “save lives” from the violence. Would the US feel threatened or trade with Mexico disrupted by Russia intervention?   

      Russia has always had an interest in Syria and Iran, all the way back to the Caliphates of old. They are neighbors. Syria was communist there for a while and both countries trade heavily with Russia. Disruption in that trade would occur with a strike or occupation hurting the Russian economy. 

      I’m not saying Russia is right but if you look at the big picture you can understand the former Generals comments in better context. 

      Remember, Libya was overthrown by uprisings and backing of Muslim Brotherhood whom we sided with. 

      Syria’s uprisings are caused by the Muslim Brotherhood. Do we side with Assad, a brutal dictator or Muslim Brotherhood, another brutal force….Both are our enemy…..

    Hang on. Didn’t the Ruskies also invade Poland in 1939 making an already lopsided fight into a simply impossible one for the Poles. And what about Russia’s (excuse me Soviet Union’s) escapades into Finland During the Winter war. The only real difference is that it took the Ruskies four months not to annex a country with a population 23 times smaller than itself. So he’s hardly in a position to be making comparisons.

      These two chapters refer to the Battle of Gog and Magog and speak of their invasion of Israel. Ezekiel says this will occur “in the latter years” (38:8) and “in the last days” (38:16).       I believe the invasion will most likely take place before the tribulation officially begins, but after the rapture.Such a view would help to explain a vacuum on the world political scene at the beginning of the tribulations left by the rem

      The Constitution’s division of powers leaves the President with some exclusive powers as Commander-in-Chief (such as decisions on the field of battle), Congress with certain other exclusive powers (such as the ability to declare war and appropriate dollars to support the war effort), and a sort of “twilight zone” of concurrent powers. In the zone of concurrent powers, the Congress might effectively limit presidential power, but in the absence of express congressional limitations the President is free to act. Although on paper it might appear that the powers of Congress with respect to war are more dominant, the reality is that Presidential power has been more important–in part due to the modern need for quick responses to foreign threats and in part due to the many-headed nature of Congress.

Also if you read Zech 12 13 and 14.. I read a Fox article that the Tea Party candidates are warming up to Romney. LOL. There will be a strong conservative third party candidate, the people who placed Romney in the nomination regardless of the will of the majority will come back to bite them in the butt by 2012. Of course Beck will still have plenty to talk about in the coming insurrection! Romney cannot beat Obama. We don’t need Obama.       Paul remained silent, so I asked him again. He did not respond, again. But he clearly heard both questions, as we were walking side-by-side, and no one else was speaking at the time.

      Following his speech at the insurance agency, I walked up to him again to ask the same question, but he did not respond. “He’s just shaking hands, writing signatures,” a Paul aide told me.

      Although the question is hypothetical, it’s a fairly easy one for most Americans to answer. It would be a revealing indicator of just how far outside the mainstream Paul’s isolationism may be if he does in fact think the U.S. should not have invaded Europe during World War II.”

      Well the major difference between then and now is we are the attackers. WE ARE THE GERMANY THIS TIME!!!!!

      Could Patton taken down the Russians. Certainly, he knew their tactics and was a great general. The United States at that time dominated the world in manufacturing. We didnt need to wage war against our bank(china) either.

      Now, we are the attackers, we are broke, we are spread out, and we dont manufacturing anymore. Another side note at the time Patton said this, atomic weapons had not been used yet.

      Really ??? were nazi germany ???? u litteraly dont know history at all what so ever bc nazi germany was the 1ST MECHANIZED ARMY AFTER WW1 WHILE OTHER COUNTRYS WERE STILL USING HORSES AND CARAGES THEY WERE USING TRUCKS AND TANKS!!!!!!! that comparison litteraly holds no weight. get a life …..i kno occupy or the administration would love u on theyre side.

      Hitler was democratically elected you numbskull. What action you ask? We have surround Iran with bases. We have parked three carriers off their coast, we just hit them with sanctions.

      This is like a exact playbook of what we did to Iraq. Next we will put in a no fly zone and bomb anti air sites. Then we will invade.

      The story is about us preemptively attacking Iran and how Russia would react.

      The ACTION – The United States attacking Iran.
      The REACTION – China, Russia, and Pakistan getting involved.

      WAKE UP!!!

      I agree most people dont “like” Ron Paul because they dont understand politics, economics, or war. We have a uneducated, fat, American Idol watching population that thinks war is a video game and that nothing bad can happen to us.

      Its hard to call it a democratic election when ur the only one on the BALLOT !
      And they want to wipe isreal off the map what do u not understand about that …..do u know how a treaty works ???? u are my friend he hits u u retaliate i help u retaliate?? and no its about EU wanting to put sanctions on Iran and syria …russia says no or il cut off the oil reserve that runs through russia to supply EU …….Iran says we need to wipe isreal off of the map! …..than builds big bomb ! isreal is now contemplating a pre emptive strike to destroy that nuclear use…..so its not used on one of theyre cities . killing hundreds of thousands of innocent ppl…..so where am i and isreal not clear on this and when it comes to bases we have one base in kuwait and 2 in afghanistan…so thats a strangle hold how ??? oh wait and we have three shared bases in pakistan that most of our troops are not in ?? and we have ships protecting the straight because iran promised to close it off NO MORE GAS!!!…….do u want to pay more in gas alot of our trade goes through that area.

      I agree that most people dont like ron paul because they understand politics, economics and the real threats that are out theyre that we cant ignore.

    You’re confused. Russia is not on the good side. Look at who they are defending. The Syrian government is murdering thousands of its own citizens and Iran who is threatening to obliterate Israel and come after America. Russia is not on the side of peace, of human rights or anything good. Putin has a huge axe to grind because of the demise of the Soviet Union. Do not believe for a moment that Russia will assume a reasonable or righteous stance on any world issue.
