A large group of 2008 Barack Obama supporters are now banking on Mitt Romney for the upcoming presidential election.
That’s according to a report from Fox News that says a shift in Wall Street support could mean as much as a $150,000 boost for Romney’s campaign.
“I think Romney could at least split Wall Street with Obama, which is something McCain really didn’t do,” said Charlie Gasparino, a reporter for Fox Business News. None of the expected bank presidents showed up to a recent fundraiser for President Obama, he added.
Romney has established himself as the “Wall Street favorite” for the Republicans, and Gasparino said Romney’s moderate reputation and experience working on Wall Street have helped seal his position. Tea Party candidates for president don’t have much of a chance getting significant backing from the banks, Gasparino explains in this video:

New national debt data:
It’s growing about $3 million a minute, even during his vacation
Updated numbers for the national debt are just out: It’s now $14,639,000,000,000
When Barack Obama took the oath of office twice on Jan. 20, 2009, CBS’ amazing number cruncher Mark Knoller reports, the national debt was $10,626,000,000,000
That means the debt that our federal government owes a whole lot of somebodies including China has increased $4,247,000,000,000 in just 945 days. That’s the fastest increase under any president ever.
Or last week’s three-day Midwestern tour in the president’s new $1.1 million Death Star bus? National debt went up $16,988,000,000 while he rode around speaking and buying ice cream cones.
ABC News’ Luis Martinez (@LMartinezABC) reports: The cost of U.S. military intervention in Libya has cost American taxpayers an estimated $896 million through July 31, the Pentagon said today.
The U.S. has also promised $25 million in non-lethal aid to the Libyan Transitional National Council, half of which the Defense Department has already on MRE’s (military lingo for Meals, Ready to Eat).
DO YOU STILL WANT TO RE-ELECT obama???????

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 10:21amIt is obvious the establishment GOP backs Romney. The general public is throwing their support behind Perry. So it will be interesting to see what happens. Romney’s Mass healthcare issue is a deal breaker for me and it will be with many other Americans both Dem and Republican who do not like the idea of the govt shoving their agenda down our throats. We ran a RINO McCain last time and the results were a disaster. I think the Perry Rubio ticket works. They will beat Obama.

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 10:36amHOW do you overlook PERRY’S use of an executive mandate order for HPV for young girls?? (only stopped by conservative legislature….in spite of Perry’s $$ from Merck and people connection to Merck!)
HOW do you overlook Perry using “public domain” to take land to build the Trans TX corrider (and owned by a FOREIGN gov’t!!) and having to be stopped by the conservatives in TX ???? How DO you count that conservative???
HOW do you consider Perry conservative when he is for giving $$ to illegals for education???
Those are just the things I’ve learned about him………after thinking my daughter’s governor might be a good choice!!
MA’s healthcare…….CAME AFTER turning budget deficit into a surplus, with support from the conservative Heritage Foundation and support from the majority of MA citizens!! ARTICLE 10……..which Perry recently supported NY on its stand on gay rights!! He then FLIPFLOPPED when his “supporters” must have informed him THAT was NOT conservative!
PEOPLE………don’t be suckered into thinking Perry is a conservative just because he enjoys the freedom of talking openly about God! (Romney is not afforded that same privilege from many in the evangelical community.) In fact………I look at Perry’s “walk”…….and it doesn’t match his “talk”!! I saw numbers on his charitable giving! Interesting for someone who “professes” to be such a follower of Christ. Using religion to promote oneself politically

If he picks Rubio as his VP, Allen West as Sec. of State, that would be very good. Sure beats what is in office now. We just need someone other than Obama and we don’t have many choices, so don’t run Romney down if thats all we have. We don’t want Conservative and Independent votes split in all directions. There is no perfect candidate. We need to research Romney better and be careful not to fall for all the Democrats lies about the candidates. He has a right to change his mind on some issues. For Heaven’s sake, Obama changes his mind every other day and lies about everything. Romney is our best bet to win. I like the other candidates, but I really believe they cannot beat Obama. I think Romney has learned a lot over the years. He loves America and that says a lot compared to what we have as a president now. Do your research, go meet him if he is in your area. Wallstreet is part of capitalism and have their own financial interest in mind when their money goes to a candidate all it means is from their perspective this is the one who is the odds on favorite for becoming the next President. The establishment wants any one but Mitt Romney who is a very honorable and honest man and will not play their games, he is one of their least favorite candidates. Rick Perry is their man he is a tool of the establishment and a committed globalist and one worlder. A Mitt Romney/Marco Rubio ticket would win by a landslide as Mitt will get much of the moderate and fiscal conservative votes and Rubio will attract much of the tea party and socially conservative votes. None of the other candidates can get enough of the moderate and fiscal conservative/social moderate to liberal vote that is necessary the way that Mitt Romney can and Marco Rubio will gain the votes that would be for a Bachmann or Perry as the Tea Party is about their entire voting base not even close for them to win the general.
Bottom line is if you want Obama out of office you need to get behind Mitt Romney, the sooner the better.

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 5:25pm@BORN AGAIN PATRIOT,
Paul is incorruptible, change that to unelectable, but the guy is a career politician who has been in D.C. for 25 years. He sure turned out to be a real hypocrite on his desire to only buy American made goods and services. It comes out his campaign t-shirts, hats and other supplies are being made in El Salvador. http://politics.gather.com/viewArticle.action?articleId=281474979801400
By the way the reason Ron Paul is unelectable to site a very concrete historical reason: In the 2008 GOP Primary Ron Paul did not win one Primary in one county in the entire USA. He did manage to win 16 of the 600 counties that caucused but they are custom made for the 2nd and 3rd tier candidates to do better. No candidate in the history of this country in any party has ever won it‘s party’s nomination or the Presidency if they did not win at least a few of the primaries if they had previously run for President.
Like many others on here have said we need to unite behind Mitt Romney so that Obama can be thrown out of office. None of the other candidates give us anywhere near a good enough chance to do that other than maybe Rick Perry who in my opinion is so corrupt that you might as well just reelect Obama as they both are Globalist, Progressives who want our sovereignty done away with.

If the establishment was behind him with his resume he would be so far out in front that the GOP challengers would know they were just wasting their time and money running against him. Some Blazers do their own research, sadly a good portion do not or they would never support Rick Perry not in 1,000,000 years unless of course they are for a one world government and want the country to be destroyed. MA’s healthcare “experiment” came AFTER turning budget defict into surplus. It came w/support of Heritage Foundation. It was passed with large support of the citizens, unlike Obamacare. It was 70 some pages vs. over 2700 pages. MA fit MA ONLY and had flaws that Romney did not like but was a compromise in an overwhelming democratic legislature. Obama NEVER consulted Romney on what worked and didn’t. Obama was NOT interested in truth or knowing. Obama had HIS agenda. Article 10/state’s rights applies here. If MA doesn’t like it, then that one state can much more easily change it compared to the monster that Obama created and keeps in tact as long as he’s in the WH and Dems in the senate!

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 11:24amZMAN61…….No, I don’t want to do YOUR critical thinking. The Blaze has an OBVIOUS bias AGAINST Romney and FOR Perry. As much as Beck has pushed “do your own research” yet bashes Romney pretty much endlessly and now almost nonstop supports/props up/ignores truths & negatives on Perry, I have little respect for him.
I didn’t feel this way a few months ago. I just encourage people to do their own careful research, critical thinking and making decision and not be “suckered” into “another MARK AGAINST ROMNEY” with articles such as this! I rarely come to the blaze anymore after being a FREQUENT visitor. The blaze DEFINITELY has an agenda! Again, my only purpose is to encourage people to read/listen/observe on your own and not be suckered by a manipulative headline.
There are many other articles that could be written about Romney on the Blaze, but the ones that have a “negative” side to them seem to make the blaze.
So much for “truth has no agenda”……..
Thanks for the “banter”, Zman61. Seriously! ;-)

I actually believe, and this is backed up by most of the polls that more people are comfortable with Romney as our candidate and that ticks a lot of the rigid conservatives off! I am a strong conservative but there is nothing that Romney has said or done that scares me from him. Did he pass a healthcare bill in LIBERAL MA? Yes. but he had that right as the Gov to sign what the LEGISLATURE of that state WANTED for their citizens. If it so terrible the current legislature and Gov could repeal it. Is Bachmann or Palin or Santorum more in line with my thinking? Yes. are they electable by a majority of this country? No. I do not want to lose to Obama in a “close one” and put up with another four years of this socialism because frankly our country could not handle the weight of taxes and it WILL crumble if Obama is not out there in Nov ‘12. Go Romney!

Posted on August 23, 2011 at 3:39pmThe Massachusetts health care reform law has become an unfortunate victim of politics.
Democrats in Washington say that their unpopular takeover of the nation’s health care sector – with its higher taxes, cuts to seniors on Medicare and price controls — is somehow modeled on the Massachusetts law. On the other end of the political spectrum, conservatives implausibly claim it is “bankrupting” the state.
Given these political theatrics and outright distortions, setting the record straight about the Massachusetts law is critical – its successes and failures and also the lessons learned about how to improve health care in our country.
Simply put, the Massachusetts law was an experiment to expand health insurance coverage to almost every resident of the Commonwealth, by redirecting existing health care spending and without raising taxes. It was not an attempt to control costs.
As someone deeply involved in drafting the law, our operating principle was to deal with the issue of access first, and then try to control costs. But the first big step was to get everyone under the insurance umbrella.
By any measure, the Massachusetts law succeeded in getting everyone covered. The state’s rate of uninsured is approaching zero, the lowest in the country by a wide margin. More than 430,000 additional people now enjoy the security of health insurance, approximately half without any government assistance.
Report Post »iblvingd
Posted on August 23, 2011 at 3:48pmThe law also made good on its ability to sustain these health insurance coverage gains without breaking the bank. Enrollment in the partially government-subsidized Commonwealth Care program is in line with projections from 2005, and premium costs are within a reasonable margin for error.
The law also made sensible insurance market reforms that balanced the need for consumer protection with a vibrant, and financially solvent, insurance sector.
The key reform was requiring that all residents have proof of health insurance. This first-in-the-nation obligation was devised because we knew that the success of access to affordable health insurance depended on everyone taking responsibility for his or her use of health care.
No more could the uninsured show up at a hospital emergency room for routine care and expect that the taxpayers would write the check.
As an experiment, however, the Massachusetts law has revealed certain weaknesses in the plan. Three areas of concern are: overreaching social planning by the Commonwealth Health Insurance Connector Authority (the “exchange”); double-digit increases in health insurance costs for many employers and individuals, and too much taxpayer money still underwriting free care.
Each of these maladies can be cured, if state officials recognize the limitations of top-down government solutions. Instead, as former Gov. Romney said, the health care sector must be exposed to free market forces and the consumer should be the orga

With our democratic system, no one ever gets their way, many have to come together to make it work for all. Like the Mass. Healthcare Bill it was voted in as an experiment, with the provisions to come back and fix what didn’t work. This Bill was not an executive order.
