‘Anti-Zionist’ Former WH Reporter Helen Thomas Gives Candid Interview to…Playboy?

One might never have put the two together: Playboy and Helen Thomas. But on Friday, the men’s magazine publisher posted a “candid conversation” with the former White House correspondent, wedged between advertisements for Miss April 2009′s “Cyber Club” and “Live Nude Chat.”

In the interview, Thomas recalls the controversial comments she made last spring about Israel, Jews and Palestine. After public outcry, the veteran White House reporter stepped down from her post with Hearst Newspapers. “I deeply regret my comments I made last week regarding the Israelis and the Palestinians,” she said at the time. “They do not reflect my heart-felt belief that peace will come to the Middle East only when all parties recognize the need for mutual respect and tolerance. May that day come soon.”

But in her “candid conversation” with Playboy, Thomas seems to double down on her comments criticizing Jews. According to Thomas, no one gave her a chance to defend her controversial remarks.

“Everybody knows my feelings that the Palestinians have been shortchanged in every way. Sure, the Israelis have a right to exist – but where they were born, not to come and take someone else’s home,” she told Playboy contributing editor David Hochman. “I’ve had it up to here with the violations against the Palestinians…[The Palestinians] are incarcerated and living in an open prison.”

While she says she does not condone violence aimed at Israelis, Thomas adds: “Who wouldn’t fight for their country? What would any American do if their land was being taken? Remember Pearl Harbor. The Palestinian violence is to protect what little remains of Palestine. The suicide bombers act out of despair and desperation. … I’m not anti-Jewish; I’m anti-Zionist,” she added.

Commenting on America’s long-time support for the state of Israel, Thomas argued that the U.S. government bribes Israelis who then in turn kill people. “Why do they send my American tax dollars to perpetuate it?” she rhetorically asks.

Thomas also claims that Jews use past persecution to dominate over both the America and Palestinians: “The slaughter of Jews stopped with World War II…They were liberated since then. And yet they carry on the victimization. American people do not know that the Israeli lobbyists have intimidated them into believing every Jew is a persecuted victim forever – while they are victimizing Palestinians…Why do they inflict the same pain on people who did nothing to them?”

“[The Jews are] using their power, and they have power in every direction…Power over the White House, power over Congress…Everybody is in the pocket of the Israeli lobbies, which are funded by wealthy supporters, including those from Hollywood. Same thing with the financial markets. There’s total control…It isn’t the two percent. It’s real power when you own the White House, when you own these other places in terms of your political persuasion. Of course they have power. [To the interviewer] You don’t deny that. You’re Jewish, aren’t you?”

Although she officially “resigned,” Thomas says Hearst Newspapers fired her following her controversial comments, adding that she would “never bow out of journalism.”

And what Helen Thomas think about President Obama? He’s too conservative.

“He’s pushing a conservative agenda…Look at Guantanamo. With a stroke of a pen, the day after Obama took the oath he should have said, ‘We’re getting the hell out of here.’ Same thing with Iraq and Afghanistan. There’s no reason for us to be in war…I thought Obama would be for peace, but he’s not.”

“I thought, naively perhaps, that [Hillary Clinton] and Obama would bring change, that they would be different. I assumed wrongly that they would be liberal because he‘s black and she’s a woman. It’s maddening.”

Speaking to a national conference of campus journalists Thursday, Thomas also demanded an apology from President Obama:

“I want an apology from the president,” Thomas, 90, said Tuesday to the hundreds of student journalists and their advisers attending the keynote session of the annual spring convention of College Media Advisers (CMA) at the Marriott Marquis Hotel in New York City…

“Her comments were offensive,” Obama said [at the time]. “It’s a shame because Helen’s someone who has been a correspondent through I don’t know how many presidents, was a real institution in Washington, D. C. But I think she made the right decision. I think those comments are out of line, and hopefully she recognizes that.”…

At one point during the session, Shira Kaminsky, a 23-year-old student journalist at the University of Massachusetts, stood up and announced that she was a third generation Israeli.

“You said that Israelis should leave their country,” Kaminsky said, standing at the rear of the crowded room. “Where should we go?”

“Where are your grandparents from?” Thomas asked.

“Poland and Romania,” Kaminsky replied.

“Then come to America,” Thomas responded.

      Disliking Israel’s policies does not make you an enemy of America. If an Arab country fought a war with one of our allies and killed one hundred of their civilians to every one soldier that our ally killed we’d be up in arms. Their policies are inherently damaging to the region and our country. If anything, our support of Israel puts us in greater danger of being attacked.

      The lies are unbelievable. The Palestinian have not even claimed the right of self determination based on the excuse that Israel must return their land first. Judea existed long before the Arabs were there. After the defeat of the Ottoman empire the land got reapportioned by the west. Israel got a very tiny bit of what at the time as worthless desert. Still the Arab/Muslim persuasion–being the bunch of racists that they are– could not tolerate the Jews and wanted to pushed them out. I would like to believe that not all Muslims are racists but I know that at least 80% of them want to see Israel disappear. Now they want us also to disappear. To the Muslims I say, not without a huge fight. By the way, we do not roll over and die. If you start with us, in that fight you will learn a new definition of pain and horror.

      In the previous paragraph, I tried to summarize the history of the region. This was done hastily and at the risk of precision and historical perspective. One thing to take away, is that the Jews have as much rights as anyone to the land they now hold. Countless wars where Israel won decisively and yet did not claimed the captured territories. If it had been me, the entire region would have been Israel by now. Let me say I am not a Jew but injustice is injustice and the Palestinians and their fellow Muslims are fighting an immoral war. A genocidal war against the Jews. People of good character should be appalled at what they are trying to do. The Jews need to be less apologetic which brings to mind a bad Jewish joke:

      Two Jews are about to be executed by firing squad. The captain approaches the Jews and ask; Do you have any last request? The one Jew thinks about it and says a blind fold would be good and turns to his fellow Jew and ask his opinion. The second Jew responds–Let’s not make trouble.

      The world is upside down. But I don’t believe that the Muslims are going to win anything in this struggle and they will ultimately will be defeated.

Playboy thought she was newsworthy, and that is an indictment of their greed to sell issues at the cost of common decency. What happened to initially force them out and how many were slaughtered by Muslims when they sacked what was left of Israel, stole Jerusalem, built their Mosque on what was considered the holiest ground of my people, on what is anywhere from the second to third holiest Muslim site, not even the holiest. Have we yet forced the Palestinians by force to give up the Dome of the Rock? No.

      If America was so well controlled and in Israel’s pocket, where is the money? Oh…that’s right, there isn’t much is there? The Jewish lobby comprises less than 2% of the payoffs to congressmen.

      How many times has the US denied Israel aid and who exactly sent Israel anti-tank missiles which amounted to the only saving grace against Egypt and Lebanon during the Arab Israeli war when almost the entirety of the House and Senate, and the US President refused aid? Yep, we’re really in their pockets huh?

      Oh, and what about the population. Weren’t there around 40,000 Arabs living in Palestine around the early 1900′s when the first movement to repopulate Israel began? So where did all those millions and millions of “Palestinians” come from and why were they so poor and despotic? Oh, that’s right, Lebanon, Syria, and Egypt did what? Dump all their unwanted members in the hope they would be used as a barbarous force to kill off the Jews moving into Israel and forming a government? Oh, and with the average annual giving of 250million to Palestine since the 70′s, why has none of that money been used to help the people, why are they so lacking in medical care, food, proper schools when that money does not filter through Israel first? Oh ya, corruption in Palestine. So who again is oppressing whom?

      I just can’t put my finger on it…
