Four Injured: Bull Jumps Into Stands at Edmonton Rodeo

Four Injured: Bull Jumps Into Stands at Edmonton Rodeo
(via Edmonton Journal)

EDMONTON, Alberta (AP) — Four people have been injured after a bull jumped a fence and bounded into the crowd at the Canadian Finals Rodeo in Edmonton.

Three spectators were treated by paramedics on site and released Friday night at Rexall Place. The fourth person was taken to the hospital. An update on the spectator‘s condition wasn’t immediately available Saturday.

Event organizer Northlands said in a statement that this was the first such incident with a bull in the history of the Canadian Finals Rodeo.

Blaze editor’s note: I’m going to post several different amateur videos from the event.  And at the bottom I’m going to link to a separate video of a different bizarre bull “incident” at the same rodeo.

And I found one more video from the Edmonton rodeo. Kinda bizarre. It’s called Cowboy Poker. Watch it here.

GOOD – they shouldnt be annoying the bull anyway – animals do NOT need to be lassoed or corralled – I always root for the bull in these circmstances. When will people learn

I personally think they should stop all rodeos , circuses , & every animal performing . Enough is enough , let them be we have different sources of entertainment now . Let the dark ages be dark . Go animals !!

Boy howdy, now that’s great rodeo! First bull rider enjoyed his 8 seconds to glory with style; 85 points. All my years of rodeo riding, I never earned my 8 seconds to glory. My husband did many times. Both of us ate equal amounts of arena dirt, though.

You can see this coming. This bull begins to jump over the railing, then moves to another section. Look close and you will note this wild bull picks a “white” poster board with a “RAM” logo but does not have enough speed for a leap, then charges to the next white “RAM” poster board and leaps. This is not coincidental. White is the least “busy” the way a bull sees this; best chance to leap and clear.

There was warning this bull intended to leap the corral, but there was not enough lead time for the crowd to skedaddle, nor for a clown to intercede.

I am impressed by how fast those cowboys were on this bull and knew exactly what do, lasso and hobble his hind legs. This took the bull down.

Be nice if all are OK, probably so.

Announcer is cute, “Relax, talk to God if you want to.”

Great job on the part of those rodeo workers, impressive.

Not like the rodeo’s were in the Huntsville. Texas prison rodeo’s but still pretty good. I think we still wear stetsons in Texas rather than helmuts tho’.

No…almost all PBR bull riders wear helmets and flack jackets.
As for your prison rodeos It doesnt matter if a bull steps on those heads, nothing in em anyways

They are breading the bulls to be bigger, stronger and meaner. Time to add rails to the fences. This has happened a few times this year, luck has been with them as no one has died.

Nanny state in Canada has seen fit to make the bull riders wear protective helmuts. As the mother of a former bull rider, I’m torn on that!

It’s a good thing the rope was already on that thing before it jumped into the crowd. It could have been a lot worse. I hope the people who were down there are ok.

      Ole’ Rewind is a jumper!
Near as I can tell, that fence is about 8′ tall. He completely cleared it except for his back legs, maybe, with a pickup man jerking on him with a rope. That’s double tough! Glad no one got hurt bad! Notice the big cowgirl in the top picture. She’s just grinning as Rewind is snuggling up to her in the stands. She probably just slapped him down and walked away.

I like rough stock sports, but cowboy poker is just stupid. Something wrong with you to just sit there and let a bull freight train you! I‘ve seen guys win the pot but the pot wasn’t near enough to cover their injuries and hospital bills. How lame is that!!

Thanks Blaze for bringing us things of interest for us Heartlanders! Most media forgets about us “fly over” states.

I just took a closer look at the top picture. Notice the rope running across the pic from left to right. Left end being dallied off by the pickup man. The rope is looped around the top of the fence panel and goes the other direction to the loop on the bulls neck. On the right hand side you can see that there is only about an inch of pipe, or less, sticking up to hold the rope in place and keep Rewind from getting more up close and personal with that woman than he already is.
Still cracks me up that she is standing her ground instead of running, hanging on to that top rail and grinning!………..Great picture!!……………….

Um….I raised 2500 lb black angus bulls from when I was 13 til when i went into the Marine Corps when I was 20, and the only interresting thing about this story is that the guy giggled and the woman freeked when this happened. This is a RODEO. Bulls are NOT paid, trained players…..get over it…and as for The Blaze.com, wtf are you thinkinking? this isn’t REMOTELY Blaze-worthy. get us some real news, not this garbage.
