NEW YORK (The Blaze/AP) — Fox News Channel says it has suspended contributors Newt Gingrich and Rick Santorum for two months as the men explore a possible White House run.
The network, in an on-air announcement by Bret Baier on Wednesday, said the contracts for the two men will be suspended until May 1. Their contracts will be terminated unless they notify the network by then that they are not running for president.
Both Gingrich, the former House speaker, and former Pennsylvania senator Santorum have not declared candidacies. But they have signaled that they are seriously considering a run for the GOP presidential nomination in 2012.
Rumors have circulated that Gingrich was set to announce the formation of a presidential exploratory committee on Thursday. On Wednesday, however, his spokesman did his best to silence those rumors by saying, “To be clear, while Speaker Gingrich is in Georgia on Thursday, he will NOT announce the formation of an exploratory committee.”
The news network has other potential candidates on its payroll, including Sarah Palin and Mike Huckabee, but their status was not addressed on Wednesday.
“This is the announcement that’s being made today,” Baier said, but “it does not preclude other announcements that may be made in the future” about other Fox employees who are flirting with White House runs.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 1:22pmHow about Colmes, will he not be suspended? I used to like him when he was with Hannity. But now he sounds weird. He speaks like a robot blurting out Obama and Democrat’s taking points even if it is indefensible. He should be suspended for being connected to Obama’s behind.
If he could be at least like Juan Williams who will defend the Democrats and Obama but will also agree when they mess up.
As for Beckel…he is entertaining and you know by his facial expressions when he knows something is indefensible.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 11:13pmLike it or not I cannot believe Sarah Palin would be willing to run on a ticket as VP.
I think her bold tell it like it is talk makes her as close to a perfect choise as a Presidential canadate as the Republicans could offer.
and for godness sakes please dont tell me Mrs Palin is unelectable. I just might rip you a new hole.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 1:16pmOh now they decide to suspend them after they spout their beliefs and politics for the last 2 years.
Sarah Palin will probably be suspended on the day of her annoucement.
Fox network is a joke and the whole country knows it.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 3:24pmI heartily second that motion. Thats a winning ticket for sure and it would be pure joy to watch each of them perform in the debates. I love watching BHO stutter and flounder without the tele-prompters and VP bite-me’s smug arrogance is always good for a foot-in-mouth sound bite moment.
Christie‘s objection to running is he doesn’t feel he’s ready to be president. My God, he is eminently more qualified than Pres. no birth certificate – community organizer. Hopefully someone can convince him that his country needs him NOW and his confidence will catch up to his obvious leadership ability.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 1:05pmHey FOX, go ahead and suspend Geraldo Rivera and Shep Smith while your at it. Just because they’re boneheads. There has to be a bonehead clause in those cotracts somewhere, doesn’t there?

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 1:26pmThat smug Shep Smith forces me to change the channel now at the sound of his voice. Never really warmed up to him and when he stated while interviewing Juan Williams recently that the WI situation was ONLY about politics and Republican Union busting, I new why. Even the unions have conceded the need for financial give backs to deal with the budget crisis. Shep is left of the unions and that’s MSNBC territory IMO. This guy is basically a news reader but he’s far from “fair and balanced”. FOX – you can do better.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 1:02pmGood for Fox, at least this way there can be seen no conflicts of interest with the two if they indeed do decide to run for the office of president; the part for Huckabee and Palin for right now is the fact they have not announced running for the nomination to any degree such as Gingrich and Santorum have.

Posted on March 2, 2011 at 2:20pmSeriously……Gingrich needs to go away……he is NOT what this nation needs….maybe he can crawl in a hole and take mr. Rove and Dana Parino, Romney with him………
Why are we pandering to these losers anyway…..and why are you conservatives wondering about Colmes? No i don’t like him either.he looks and sounds like a used car salesmen (my apology to car salesmen :) but seriously he is not our problem.
Our problem is the goons like Gingrich, Rove, Dana Parino, Romney that are UNDERMINING the TRUE CONSERVATIVE MOVEMENT in our country.
I like what Michelle Malkin tweeted yesterday….these fatcats are completely responsible for villifying Palin, Huckabee, and Michelle Bachman
and in the meantime they are trying to prop up people like christie, trump, or some other partially conservative person that is drunk on their own press-whose core MOTIVE is for POWER and not for the US of A.
PEOPLE WAKE UP!!
