Frances Fox Piven: ‘Glenn Beck Decided’ For Me to Do My New Book

Leftist professor and author Frances Fox Piven has revealed the inspiration behind her latest book: Glenn Beck.

In a new interview with Iran’s Press TV, Piven said her 2011 “Who’s Afraid of Frances Fox Piven?: The Essential Writings of the Professor Glenn Beck Loves to Hate” was prompted by all the attention she received on Beck’s television program.

“About two-and-a-half years ago, Glenn Beck made me a target and incessantly, repeatedly featured me as a kind of evil conspirator in American politics,” she said. “This was taken up by the right-wing blogs and by the Tea Party and by other strange people, that my publisher decided it would be a good idea to do the collection. So I didn’t really decide, Glenn Beck decided, and I was glad to do it.”

The book, she said, is a “lifetime of arguments that I’ve made for a very long time, since the mid-1960s.”

“Most of ‘Who’s Afraid of Frances Fox Piven?‘ consists of excerpts from essays or books that I’ve written over a very long time, 45 years,” she said. “What I wrote recently is the introduction, which explains why this book is being published now and then little introductions to each excerpt from earlier work.”

She continued, “The question really is, why this collection now? And the answer to that is well, Glenn Beck is the promoter of the book.”

      Provided no one follows through with the death threats against her, she owes Glenn a lot. Formerly an all unknown professor with unknown writings, ideas and zero influence, thanks to Glenn, people now at least have heard of her name.

      He ought to get some of the royalties from the book. Thanks to Glenn, she’s famous! And now she’ll have a huge market for her books and ideas, where before she couldn’t have sold even a single book.

      People like her who are extremely weird don’t really know what weird is or what it looks like.

      If the Huffpost put her on assignment doing on-the-street interviews only of people that were weird to her, she would select only those who bathed regularly, paid their bills and were gainfully employed.

      They would all be under her chapter on oddballs and kooks.

      JZS, unless the world has turned upside down since yesterday, Fox Piven does not now need, and has never needed, armed security to keep any death threats at the threat stage. Glenn Beck, on the other hand, can’t go anywhere without security because of all those peace loving leftists who really will kill him, given half a chance. Because Fox Piven is hoping for something akin to the “Oprah Effect” by mentioning Beck does not mean much, other than what she’s willing to do for a buck. As for royalties going to Beck … it’s not likely there will be much by way of that, but if she wants to split both dollars with him, I‘m sure he’ll be gracious about that too, as is his way.

Like when she was in, or should I say she was part of a roundtable discussion, the “Free to Choose” series by the late but great Milton Friedman. Just like you yourself think, she also thunk, that people should not be free to choose, but rather decisions should be made for them by a centralized bureaucracy, of course ONLY when controlled by “benevolent” Democratic Socialists. She does not believe, as she did before, that people, except for those of her stock of course, could not and should not be left to make decisions on their own, or enter into voluntary agreements with one another, or into voluntary financial agreements/transactions with one another. You see that evil free market was forcing the poor to work and support themselves, as well as coercing them into transactions they didn’t want to make, right? This is what you and her both believe isn’t it? The thought never has entered your closed minds that, say, when somebody poor, rich, or black, or white buys a loaf of bread at the store fo $1.00 or $2.00 or even $10.00, that that person obviously valued the bread more than the amount of money spent on it–even if a poor person just payed $10.00 for that bread. But you say they were forced to buy it cause they have to eat, right? WRONG, b/c valued it more than the $10, which was still a better choice TO THEM than baking it themselves. Now, tell me how wrong, blind, and dumb I am now.

      If the left is in charge at the local level school systems and teachers will make it assigned or required reading as part of the student’s indoctrination and of course this also applies to our colleges. That’s what Conservative need to start doing by learning from the left. We need a short and long term plan. These people don’t give up and they know long term that indoctrinating the youth is the key. Parents need to get vigilant in what their kids are learning. Put them in private schools or home school them if they can manage it and push for school vouchers at the local level. Vouchers are also a good tool, if explain properly, to get poor people and minorities to vote conservative at the local level. Minorities and the poor as a whole are as tired as anybody of being trapped in crappy public schools with no way out unless their children are lucky enough to win a charter school lottery. The main reason local politicians as well as state and national politicians oppose vouchers is that they lose the chance to indoctrination the child.. Of course they don’t tell you that.

    She is so delusioinal. Beck pointed out who the enemy is and we all turned our spotlight on her to see who influences the mindless drone like left.
