Frances Fox Piven Responds to Death Threats: I Love It Progressive academic Frances Fox Piven is responding to various threats she has received since “Glenn Beck began obsessively attacking [her] in early 2011.”

Piven has reportedly received emails stating, among other things, “may cancer find you soon,“ and ”DIE YOU C***.”  While in January she said of it, “I don’t want to give anybody the satisfaction of thinking they’ve got me trembling,” she is now remarking, “I love it.”

According to Truthout:

For most of her life, Frances Fox Piven has worked as a professor of social sciences and activist far away from public notoriety. Though fairly well-known in academic and progressive circles, having played a key role in major social movements like the National Welfare Rights Organization…

She rocketed to a national platform in early 2011.  Truthout continues:

Rather than flee from the public spotlight, however, Piven seized it.

She repeatedly appeared on news shows to discuss the threats; she led a national teach-in with Princeton professor and activist Cornel West on pushing back against austerity; she continued writing for a variety of publications about the need for a movement to fight against massive inequality. In October, she visited Zuccotti Park, where she made no attempts to hide her near-giddiness at the scene before her as she praised Occupy Wall Street (OWS). When asked about the attention she has received after the death threats, she laughs.

Back in the 1960′s, Piven helped formulate the idea of using the American welfare state to implement revolution.  Her simplified proposal was to make people dependent on the government, overload the government’s rolls, and then collapse and overthrow the system.  Capitalism would be replaced with a much “fairer” form of government that provided for income equality.

      Green energy to invest in green energy you need money to get money you need a job.

      i’ve seen her kind a million times. they devote (in the formative years with older mentors that are in the end stages of the “disease”) themselves to a lifestyle based on a philosophy that doesn’t mature because it is a fallacy. they refuse to re-assess this “philosophy” and then transfer the resultant frustration and rage towards an object, otherwise they have to admit their lives were wasted (and this won’t do for such narssistic personality types – why do you think they place such value on “youth”). this object is usually a very general and large controlling paradigm that is diametrically opposed to their original perceived “philosophy”. this makes it easier for them to target specific individuals within that perceived paradigm and de-humanize them (which ironically is diametrically opposed to parts of their original “philosophy”) and makes sense in that at the latter stages of their “disease” (formerly known as “philosophy”) it is a self-perpetuating lie they tell themselves and they eagerly form bonds with others that are participating in the same general type of madness. this explains why many of the feminist groups are working in conjunction with muslim (the antithesis of feminism) radicals.

      Another word when tax payers get low and you don’t get enough tax revenue you must create a new tax like the tanning tax and other various taxes.

      That is exactly what Granholmn did to Michigan but the people were smarter those that could afford it moved leaving behind the slugs and welfare rats and no one to pay taxes exactly your type of teachings.

      I actually hope that she lives a long life, and when she eventually dies of old age, she dies in the knowledge that her whole life and philosophy had crashed and burned. Obama will be voted out in November, and with him gone, so goes her best and only chance of ever seeing such a society arise. When he is gone, the economy will slowly begin to improve, and this “Occupy Spring” that she so fervently pines for will wither and die on the vine.

      We live in a civilized society and these types of people need to be dealt with in a civilized way. Death threats are not a civilzed way.

      Francis Fox Piven and Stephen Lerner are both on tape discussing plans to destroy our economy and overthrow our political system. I think it is indisputeable that planning to overthrow the economy or political system both fall under the definition of treason.

      Both people should be tried for treason and sentenced according to their crimes.

      Vigilantes just make things worse because they make martyrs of people.

    She already admitted to wanting to overthrow our government. She’s for strangling people until they “fight back”. She has no idea how that fight might turn out, and to start a fight like that is just plain stupid. What she, and the others like her, fail to realize is that the REAL “Occupy” movement will be “Occupy WASHINGTON!”.

    Nothing is as equal as having NOTHING! The true elites (Kennedy’s, Kerry’s, Clintons, etc) would rather see ALL of us living in poverty equally (with themselves above for our own good) than to see one group succeed because of their own work ethic.

    I can picture a scene a hundred years in the future where one is reading a book titled “The Rise and Fall of the American Miracle”. The 60s marked the beginning of the end as these Progressive Pigs began to infiltrate our schools while we were busy building that “better society”. The tipping point will be this November.       To me, this “bubble” that the Beck crowd lives in is fascinating. Here’s a person, Priven, a University professor than no one would have heard (I hadn’t, you hadn’t, nobody had) of unless Glenn Beck hadn’t chosen her to be his latest bogeyman (honestly, their are lots of liberal sociology professors). This magical thinking, that this obscure academician somehow is about to overthrow the government of the United States. So is Van Jones, so is Soros, so are a hundred other people. You can’t swing a a cat without hitting someone with the magical and powerful influence to overthrow the government, at least not in Beck’s bubble. Here’s a person who nobody has heard of, raising up an army of revolutionaries who are about to overthrow the government (it’s always “about” to happen, like all of Beck’s predictions).

      That’s a fun idea, I’ll give you that. But Beck is following a well tread path – fear mongering for fun and profit. Father Coughlin would be proud.

      Alex, there is medicine that will help alleviate your paranoid conspiracy fears.

      These alleged threats could be staged to give the appearance of coming from “Patriots” and others who understand the US Constitution.

      Does she have more threats that someone like Glenn Beck? I doubt it … but she probably has some threats. Based on some of the posts on this blog there are people willing to threaten anyone who disagrees with them. Although a large percentage of conservatives are God loving and kind people, there are some who are pious and full of revenge. Sadly, a slobbering angry conservative is just as dangerous as a slobbing angry liberal. I don’t like this woman and wish she would move to China, but I’m not going to threaten her.
