‘Fraud’: Baptist University Allegedly Expels Transgendered Student for Concealing Her Identity

Last year, I met with a producer at MTV and in the middle of our chatter, she told me about some of the upcoming subject-matter that would be dealt with on the network’s popular “True Life” program. She described the story of a transgendered woman who had been hiding her true sexuality and identity for years. The 24-year-old girl, the producer explained, would date men and withhold the fact that was was, in fact, born a male.

The tale was definitely intriguing, but I didn’t think much about it after the conversation concluded. Months went by and the show aired without much fanfare. The woman, Domaine Javier, though, is in the headlines this week. According to reports, Javier is claiming that she was expelled from California Baptist University after officials purportedly accused her of committing fraud.

The Baptist Press reports that Javier, 24, told the Press-Enterprise that she was expelled for “committing or attempting to engage in fraud or concealing identity.” See, she checked “female” on her online application form when she applied to the school (and, again, she was born a male). Below, watch Javier explain the scenario:

While the school, which is obviously a Christian higher education facility, allegedly viewed this as fraudulent, Javier claims that she didn’t realize she was doing anything wrong. In fact, she has been identifying as a woman, she claims, since she was a toddler. At 13, she began acting on her emotions by dressing, thinking and acting like a girl, she says.

Javier was her high school’s valedictorian and she went on to become homecoming queen at her previous school, Riverside City College.

“For me, transgender is a person born in the wrong body,” she says. “Like me, I think of myself as female, but I was born in the wrong body — physically incorrect.”

Now, this brings me back to my discussion with the MTV staffer. Apparently, the college found out about Javier’s appearance after doing a background check. Officials then discovered her appearance on “True Life: I‘m Passing as Someone I’m Not.” The Baptist Press has more:

The university’s code of student conduct includes “refraining from sexual conduct outside of marriage, as defined in the Baptist Faith and Message, June 2000, Article XVIII: ‘The Family: Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race.’”

Below, see some of the footage from the “True Life” program Javier was a part of:

While Javier admits knowing that California Baptist University was a religious school, she had no idea, she claims, that it is affiliated with the Southern Baptist Convention. Still, many Christian colleges, whether they are associated with the SBC or not, would potentially have a strong aversion to situations like this.

Now, as a result of her expulsion, she must put her plans to study nursing on hold. Originally, she transfered from City College (where she is now studying again) to California Baptist. She must wait until the fall of 2012 to enroll at California State San Bernardino (a school she declined an admissions offer from originally).

The university, despite what some may see as discriminatory policy, is permitted by law to make such determinations. The Huffington Post explains:

Although California law prohibits employment, housing, government, insurance and other types of discrimination based upon gender identity, private universities like California Baptist University do not fall under such legislation.

The Baptist university would not comment on the case.

In all seriousness, really ticks me off to see these mental midgets use religious outlets to prove??? To prove what? That there are still areas in America that hold some sort of value system. What? These cretins won’t be done until they feel smashed any and everything worthwhile. MTV? Good Night. Total tool to debase and destroy the youth from the inside out.

If it walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, it’s probably a duck. Javier is a man. He’s not a woman. “She” is a “he”and should be addressed as such. I applaud the Baptist University for expelling this “heshe”and for standing firm on it’s Christian principles.

Javier claims he dated men that were unaware of his transgenderation. Well it’s obvious the dating was platonic with no sexual contact. Otherwise, his date would have been aware that he is a he and not a she. Ha

Poor guy- his mom raised him as a girl. Guess he’ll get a sex change as planned and be a real girl eventually- can‘t see how that’s remotely healthy to put your body through, but people will do anything to be happy. This is a sad situation.

This is probably what is happening to that boy who wants to join the Girl Scouts. His mom has probably been telling him he’s really a girl since his toddler years too.

Question: does that fall under child abuse? I’d say yes.

@rangerp Though I respect (what I assume to be) your military service to this country, please give your reasoning that this person is “sick and twisted.” There are numerous cases(still rare population-wise) where children as young as 3 or 4 years old know themselves as not the sex they are reared as. Parents bending over backwards to raise their boy as a boy or their girl as a girl to no avail!

“The researchers compared 112 male-to-female transsexuals (both androphilic and gynephilic), mostly already undergoing hormone treatment, with 258 cis-gendered male controls. The male-to-female transsexuals were more likely than non-transsexual males to have a longer version of a receptor gene for the sex hormone androgen or testosterone. The research suggests reduced androgen and androgen signaling contributes to the female gender identity of male to female transsexuals. The authors say that it is possible that a decrease in testosterone levels in the brain during development might result in incomplete masculinization of the brain in male to female transsexuals, resulting in a more feminized brain and a female gender identity.[102][103]”

      Exactly.
A ‘transgendered’ person…as this story calls him… is someone who has had gender changing surgery.
This person is a male dressing as a woman. That makes him a ‘transvestite’.

Let’s get our terminology straight. (Pun intended)

@Ranger.. It is you who is sick and twisted. If numerous people like this exist, (and they have throughout all history) at a certain point you have to look at biology. It is the mind of a fool who thinks every single person on this planet is biologically the same and there is no variation that can affect personality, sexual orientation, or cognition which is obviously a problem in your case. You like most people live inside your own head.. You (nor I) can even conceive of what it’s like to have a transgender mind, or be schizophrenic for that matter. That you think either one of those people may do things that do not fall in line with religious moral texts and it be their weakness as you would suggest, supports the evidence that some modern humans really do carry neanderthal DNA.

I graduated from Calbaptist. It is a great school. We had free speech and could talk about God in every classroom. There is even a dress code which I liked. They are very tolerant. Christians of all denominations can attend and non-Christians as well, but everyone knows the rules up front. It was refreshing to be among a student population that dressed decently and behaved decently. The professors were mostly all Phd’s and very caring toward the students. Everyone tried to be on their best behavior and it made for a wonderful, friendly environment. I won “Most Outstanding Student” at graduation!!!

When asked to choose your gender, it is a socially-accepted, widely-understood concept that “gender” is based on body parts. No mention is made of housing/dormitory arrangements: wouldn’t THAT have been an issue for you?

Every application I’ve every filled out, from work at McDonald’s to grad-school admission, states that lying is cause for dismissal. Anyone in a male’s body that selects “female” on the application lied. The reasons for the lie are insignificant to me: lying is cause for dismissal. That’s the only concern that anyone in government, media, or the world at large needs to consider.

It had to be obvious to Domaine that problems would arise when the video/interview was made public, but again, the reasons for actions are not the issue. Telling lies on an application–even one lie–is risky.

Perhaps she actually thinks now (in her mind ) that she is a female, she doesn’t need to state that she was born a male. I would assume that such an issue ( either thinking that you are a woman trapped in a man’s body or knowing) would produce certain phsycological neuances that we straight folks don’t have.
So, assuming that she lied as you or I would never do would be a biased judgement, wouldn’t it?
