GA Restaurant Sparks Outrage for Basing ‘Black and Bleu’ Sandwich on Pop Star Rihanna

A Georgia steakhouse is under fire for its Caribbean “black and bleu” sandwich, which is reportedly based on Chris Brown and Rihanna’s relationship.

According to New York Daily News:

Someone from the Chops & Hops restaurant in Watkinsville posted a photo Friday of the blue cheese-smothered steak sandwich on Facebook, along with a caption that said, ‘@chrisbrown, @rihanna and us teamed up for [an] award winning celebrity sandwich. Put your hands on this caribbean black and bleu sandwich.’

‘Chris Brown won’t beat you up for eating this unless your name starts with [an] R and ends with A,’ the post said.

In 2009, Chris Brown attacked his famous girlfriend, and later plead guilty to assault.  Pictures of her terribly bruised face were spread throughout the internet in the aftermath of the attack.  Clients of the restaurant wasted no time in denouncing the move as making light of domestic violence in tying it to the Chris Brown and Rihanna event.

“Cannot believe you find this appropriate,” wrote Nancy Downend Ferguson, “Was a loyal customer. Will never come back.”

The restaurant has now yanked the sandwich from the menu and issued an apology.  “The owners of C&H would like to make sure everyone knows that we and our staff DO NOT SUPPORT DOMESTIC VIOLENCE…Many of us have been affected by domestic violence in some manner and realize that this is no joke.”

The managers of the restaurant also declared that they will donate six times the amount of money they made on the item to Project Safe Team 6, a nonprofit organization that fights domestic abuse.

Fans of the restaurant seem to be pleased with the restaurant’s response.  One customer said, “Honestly the sandwich looks good and ‘Black and Bleu’ is a great name for it…However, if you plan on bringing it back I might suggest you name it after an MMA fighter, or hockey player… anything except a woman who was beaten.”

Tasteless, but those who have tried it begrudgingly admit, tasty.

I’m so offended! America can’t take a joke. Keep in mind Watkinsville is right next to Athens, a college town. Nancy with the two last names is probably a raging liberal.

I think the caption for their popcorn shrimp appetizer is also in questionable taste: “We like our shrimp the way we like our women – battered.”

doesn’t look very good. The meat looks overcooked big time. The thing would probably be good if they didn’t overcook the meat.

Agreed. Chris Brown has been happily accepted back by the entertainment world despite his actions. However, a sandwich appears poking fun of this fact, and suddenly everyone is offended.

Where in the heck have all the national domestic violence organizations been on this? All this time and today? Where are you? You should’ve been blasting the airwaves every single day on this. Disgusting.

      What a bunch of wimps!

At the first sign of trouble the launch into an apology mode that almost rivals the president’s.

And then they award themselves a fine!

I can think of a few things that would describe a sandwich named after this restaurant, starting with the “Chops and Chops milquetoast sandwich”.

WHY the outrage? Chris Brown is still walking free! Rihanna, the dumb whore – is still talking to him. Not one of her men beat him into a pulp after he beat her into a pulp. No one did anything. Hollywood gave Chris Brown awards. The fans love him and even post their support online for him beating her. So, why the outrage? Hypocrites.

Their mistake was that they didn‘t name it something that makes fun of someone who’s white, middle-class, hard-working, law-abiding, and has christian values.. Nobody would have said a peep about that!

Not that I don’t agree with your premise, my thing is that who thought this was a good idea. I mean the fact that they actually did this only means that someone thought this was a good marketing idea. I was a manager for a restaurant chain and had to deal with another manager at another location who thought it would be a good idea to post a help wanted message on his reader board with the phrase “now hiring amigos”. He was stupid for that, and why I had to do it and not one of our bosses I will never know, but thats another story.

Hey stupid, which is most outrageous?

    A) a man beating the snot out of his girlfriend (whom later takes the boyfriend back)
    B) the name of a sandwich which pokes fun at ‘A’

They also named a Pork sandwich for Bill Clinton, it comes with a special sauce

Pigs in a blanket for Bwarney Fwank.

and S.O.S on a lard filled biscuit for Obama.

Harry Reid got his own pastry, its a flaky pie crust, filled with hot air.
