Gabby Giffords Releases Emotional Audio Message to Constituents

Gabby Giffords Releases Audio Message to Arizona ConstituentsIn a poignant audio message released on Tuesday, Rep. Gabrielle Giffords addresses her southern Arizona constituents, telling them that she misses them and plans to be home soon. Giffords, who says that “representing Arizona is my honor,” also promised her constituents that she is “getting better.”

“I’m getting stronger. I’m getting better,” Giffords says. “I miss you. I miss Tuscon. I miss blue skies.”

She acknowledges that “it’s been a hard year for all of us“ and that she will ”speak better“ as she wants to ”get back to representing Arizona.”

“I will see you real soon. Thank you,” she says.

Listen to Giffords’ audio message below:

Giffords, who is still recovering from a traumatic brain injury sustained in a shooting spree where six others were killed, also gave her first televised interview on Monday to ABC’s Diane Sawyer. During the interview, Giffords and her husband, Mark Kelly, spoke about the long road to recovery.

“Better. Better. Working hard,” Giffords said.

National Journal adds:

Giffords is still struggling to find the right words to form sentences, after months of speech and physical therapy to recover from injuries sustained when a bullet entered the left side of her brain. Mark Kelly, Giffords’ husband, told ABC on Tuesday that she’s starting to string sentences together—one complete sentence followed by another—even though he said that’s not as evident in the interview tape with Sawyer.

In the book “Gabby: A Story of Courage and Hope,” by Giffords and Kelly, the Democratic congresswoman said she wants to return to Capitol Hill and is considering a run for reelection if she can, ABC reports.

sorry some leftwing loon almost took her out, but we can’t forget the absolute hatred her husband expressed AT and ABOUT all conservative Americans right after the shooting, we were shocked, stunned and taken aback by HIS tone.

then as obama spoke on his campaign stage in Tucson, and seeing all those obama campaign t-shirts on the seats in that auditorium, all of for compassion we ever had for that democrat couple ebbed away.

I’m willing to forgive a guy whose wife was just shot in the head for mouthing off- especially when he sees conservatives as his political enemies.

It’s really easy- and I’ve seen it one here- for people to cross the line from disliking a person’s political views to hating the person. If you jumped to the conclusion that the person who shot your wife had to be one of those “right wing nuts” so often mentioned in a vague manner on national television, can you blame the man?

Really, I wish the best to them both. And I‘m sure the realization that the attacker didn’t fit the pre-conceived mold they, and all the media, assumed he would, did something to effect their world view, if only a little bit. :)

It’s honestly a miracle of modern medicine that she has recovered so much, and I rejoice at that. :)

      @Super

I forgive the man. His wife was shot in the head. I don’t expect him to be objective in that situation. In fact, I‘m not sure he’ll ever be objective about that situation… which is one of the reasons I’m not really interested in what he has to say about it. But I do feel for him and I do pray for his wife and family.

I am sorry that happened to her but she should just hang it up. I agree, what her husband said floored me. There was absolutely no proof that any Conservative had anything to do with this and yet they were all very eager to get on Obummer’s band wagon. I pray she gets well but hope it takes time so she can see how sympathetic to her, her party will be.

      I couldn’t agree more.

Matter of fact, I thought it was Arizona state law that she had to give up her seat if she was unable to serve 90 contiguous days.

I know, I know, she’s a democrat, and brain damaged; the vice presidency is the limit, and they let their marxist judges decide what the law is, but still.

      She should go.

J Z S- Giffords was shot down by a young man suffering from paranoid schizophrenia. I honestly feel very sorry for him. I’m sad it took something like a shooting for his serious mental disease to come to light.

As far as Giffords praying for forgiveness: “judge not lest you be judged” and all that. Seriously, where do you get off telling someone that? Can you look deep into her mind and judge her as a human being, judge her motivations and reasons, and life views? I’d like to think that God is less judgmental and more forgiving, in any case.

To be honest, I think that God loves us all unconditionally. And he forgives us all unconditionally. We’re his children, after all. Just my two second interlude into philosophy. :P

Here is my question, and one most who are in Gabbie Giffords district should be asking. Will the constituents in her district be getting a federal tax break? because they have NOT been represented for the last 10 months. I think it goes like this; “ NO taxation without representation”. If this were to happen in my district, I know I would not be wanting to pay for something I did not receive.
Fortunately I am still represented, even it is still by another knucklehead in another district in the state of Arizona.

I watched the special also. It was inspirational, but CBS just couldn’t leave things alone. They had to infer AGAIN that somehow Sarah Palin was responsible for Ms. Giffords being shot because there were “targets” on a map of representatives that needed to be replaced. What was a good interview and inspiring became another piece of crap from the MSM. Yes there should be a “fairness doctrine” when it comes to the media. The organization should be made up evenly with those from the left and those from the right.

I have to agree with CCTXCN… She is not fit to serve. If this were a president, would you want him (no I’m not gonna be PC and say him/her) to sound as borderline-incoherent? It’s great that she is recovering and has a full life ahead of her, but I’m not gonna sugar coat this as much as the media and democrats want to squeeze a feel good story out of this. She appears to be on the same mental level as en elementary school student. If she were my rep, I’d be looking for options to replace her.

I am in her district and I contend that she should step down. However, there is nothing we can do until she decides to resign her position at least until next year when hopefully someone will step up and run against her if she chooses to stay in. It does not matter if she surrounds herself (staffers) that are like minded, they do not have the power to vote as she does. The “message” is not really genuine since we all know she did not form those sentences on her own, they were digitally mastered taking from bits and pieces she says. Not the same thing people. You could assume she would say those things, but she didn’t say them as they were represented in the video.
