Gaffe? Romney Boasts About His Many Cars and Says Wife ‘Drives a Couple of Cadillacs’

In the latest sound byte threatening to paint Mitt Romney as out of touch, the GOP contender told an audience Friday his wife drives not one, but “a couple” of Cadillacs.
“I love this country. I sure love this state. This feels good, being back in Michigan,” the former Massachusetts governor said in a speech to the Detroit Economic Club. “You know, the trees are the right height. The streets are just right. I like the fact that most of the cars I see are Detroit-made automobiles.
“I drive a Mustang and a Chevy pick-up truck. Ann drives a couple of Cadillacs, actually. And I used to have a Dodge truck. So I used to have all three covered,” he said.
According to the Washington Post, the Romney campaign later told reporters Ann Romney drives two Cadillac SRXs — model years 2007 and 2010 — one in California and one in Massachusetts.
The 2012 SRX luxury crossover SUV retails for between $35,485 and $54,525 according to the manufacturer’s website.
Earlier this month, Romney raised eyebrows with a comment that he’s “not concerned about the very poor,” a statement he later walked back, and drew criticism in December when he proposed a $10,000 bet to then-candidate Rick Perry during a GOP debate.

Romney, Gingrich, Santorum, and Obama are no different from each other in spending, war, and freedoms.
We need a candidate that offers us something different from Obama, Bush, and Clinton. We need Ron Paul.

Posted on February 24, 2012 at 8:25pmWhen you talk about Progressives, are you talking about:
RICK SANTORUM: In Rick’s first congressional race he was quoted to have called himself a “Progressive Conservative.” Which taking from the assumption made about Romney, means a ‘compassionate’ conservative, at least in his rhetoric. Remember that Santorum came from Pennsylvania and his district was very Republican, but very New England Republican which sometimes translates to more moderate Republicans. Now as stated before, you can win these districts while being a Conservative but sometimes you need to omit certain information or talk solely on your similarities. This rhetoric was not rare for Santorum for in this same election he was quoted to say that he was not a ‘Reagan-Conservative.’ He made an campaign ad to fight off critics attacks that he was too conservative, giving his non-conservative record (minimum wage and Amtrak). He also wrote a white paper defending his stance on abortion up to the last three months. (All of this is via the Pittsburg Post)
So in this case we need to look at his history. Rick Santorum has voted for Medicare Part D, minimum wage increase 6 times, a government bailout for the airlines and steel industry, an employer mandate to cover the health care of their employees, even those they lay off. These again are Progressive government intervention stemming from our compassionate Conservative side. Is this all bad???

Posted on February 25, 2012 at 1:39am@soybomb315 concerning “Romney likes progressive income tax” non-story.
Perhaps they are not reporting on it because they know there are multiple definitions for the word progressive. In this case it is not referring to progressivism (the political movement), nor progress (improvement), but the type of taxation. In this case it simply means a higher tax rate for those with more income (as opposed to a flat tax or a regressive tax, which is where the rate decreases with the amount subject to taxation).

If you are having a hard time telling Obama and Romeny apart, it may be because both are connected to Saul Alinsky. Mitt Romney’s father, George, met with Saul Alinsky and agreed with his views. http://gulagbound.com/25499/mitt-romneys-mentor-his-father-a-fan-of-saul-alin...
His son Mitt shares these views, and it explains why Republicans continue to be confused about Mitt Romney. He is a Saul Alinsky Radical, just like Obama. As for Ron Paul, I think he’s a good guy with solid values. I simply disagree with his foreign policy views. I think he‘s needed as an outlet for a good portion of the country and thus I’m glad he‘s in the race since that’s how America is supposed to work. I firmly believe EVERY American with a political view should have a candidate in the race.
Honestly though, I don’t think Ron Paul will run a third party ticket if Mitt wins – I think he will if anyone else wins the nomination. I know you’re a Ron Paul supporter, do you guys agree?

On one side of the page – we have Obama – who can really talk well. He is a HOPE dealer…. and he’s REALLY GOOD AT IT. On the other hand we have a Knight in Shining Armor (Whoever that will be) that will try and convince people that SPENDING IS BAD and TAXING is also bad. And that is not a very attractive message to the undecided voter. Can you imagine how “HEY – VOTE FOR ME AND I WILL NOT SPEND ANY MORE MONEY! ..sounds to the uninformed student or uninformed new voter or the uninformed housewife or the uninformed blue collar guy. Pretty unattractive. No incentive.
“We won’t default on our debt“ is not an attractive message when compared to ”I will extend your unemployment benefits”
So to us Republicans out there – yes you – CONTACT your representitive and tell them to stop repeating John McCain’s mistake and not giving anyone any incentive to vote for them.
And… “The other guy sucks worse than I do” is not an attractive message.
Get it together!!
