Former New Mexico Governor Gary Johnson, the once Republican presidential primary candidate now vying for the Libertarian Party nomination, sat down with the “Real News” panel Monday. The former governor discussed his exit from the Republican race, the inclusiveness of the GOP, defending one’s personal wealth on the campaign trail, and how he will stack up in the general election if he can secure the Libertarian Party ticket. Johnson said that if he wins the Libertarian nomination and makes it in polls from six percent, where he is now in hypothetical match-ups with President Obama and presumptive Republican nominee Mitt Romney, to fifteen percent; allowing him on the debate floor, “anything can happen.“ Johnson argued on ”Real News” Monday that he trumps President Obama on civil liberties issues, and Romney on fiscal issues.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 12:11pmBeing a New Mexico native, I have seen Gov. Johnson in action. He was a great Rep gov. in a Democratic state. He did a great job of balancing the budget, limiting government power, and promoting small business ( that’s where he came from). He is a good guy that got overlooked by the GOP machine and now is desparately trying to get out there to do some good. I like him but I don’t think he has a chance.

if everybody in the country votes their principals… and we still get evil, then we get what we deserve (the majority of us are idiots and we voted for it)
if everybody votes the lesser of two evils you guarantee we get evil (and show that we damn well do deserve it)
but if everybody votes their principals.. then maybe, just maybe, we restore the country to what it’s supposed to be… and get the constitutional Representative republic that we are supposed to have

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 9:51amI will vote for Gary, or Ron Paul. As will millions of awake Americans that refuse to vote for an establishment candidate like Mitt, who has proven that he has no core values, and his expediency will not reform anything of lasting value. American’s are stupid and ignorant when it comes to history, policy, and electing representatives, and keeping them accountable. That is a core responsibility that is required to keep tyranny at bay, but a responsibility that has been absent for almost a 100 years. Since Obama was elected more people have awoken then we have seen in generations, as can be seen in the T-Party movement, and the popularity of Ron Paul message of freedom and liberty, especially among the under 35 crowd. They hop on line and verify everything for themselves, hence the reason they support Ron Paul. They don’t just take the party line, or what comes from Fox news or Talk Radio. By doing minor research one can see that only Ron Paul is consistent and that his logic is based on historical facts, and all have solid arguments to back them. Unlike everybody else that prefers to speak in slogans, and not take a stand about anything i.e. Mitt! So if Obama gets re-elected we will have a further growth of the informed youths!
Report Post »4000 people stood in the rain in Philadelphia for the Ron Paul rally this Sunday! I suppose that that did not make it on the “Real News” on the Blaze. I subscribed but stopped watching along time ago…

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 8:49amI used to think SE was hot until her statement that people do indeed need to know all the laws and regulations pertaining to whatever activity they are engaged in regardless of the fact that the GIVERnment passes thousands upon thousands of new laws and regulations that impact everything from walking in federal parks to how you trime the trees in your front yard.
And again she showed she is part of the lame-stream GOP machine that acts like they believe in freedom but smugly know that they are smarter than the rest of us and we should just do what they say since they are here to help us… ie Progressive Republican

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 7:51amGovernor Gary Johnson and Dr. Paul are the only Candidates in the race speaking of Freedom and Liberty and the Republican party has done everything in it’s power to silence both them and their supporters. My feeling is that this will not end well for the Party. Can you say “ 4 more years” ? Our Founding Fathers must be so proud.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 1:14pmNo, Johnson and Paul are borderline anarchist. No morals, no repercussions for actions. They should go back a read the last verse in the Book of Judges. “There was no king in Israel and everyman did that which was right in his own eyes.” Then read what Israel went through. The founding fathers were religious, moral men who would not have legalized heroin, prostitution, gay marriage. Even the ones who were not professed christians (vast minority) aknowledged the public good that came from following the Judeo-Christian moral code. We have a two party system like it or not. Ron Paul or Gary Johnson only represent less than 10% of people in this country. I know you people don’t like to hear this but, it’s true. Now, you can call us all sheep if that makes you feel good. Realize the hubris you take upon yourself when you do that. I agree with 70% of what Paul says and only about 50% of what Johnson says but, it’s the most important parts. We will NEVER elect a Libertarian president nor should we.

Are you saying that there was no Drugs, Prostitution and Gays during the founding of our Country? Here are just a few of the drugs available to early US citizens
Tobacco
Coffee
Morphine
Cocaine
Alcohol
How many of these did the Founding Fathers make legal?
Where in the Constitution does in talk about Gay Marriage? Or Marriage at all? And how about Prostitution? The Founding Fathers where Libertarians.
Are you saying that Ron Paul is not a Christian? Or a man of Morals?
Ron Paul has been Married to the same and only women for over 40 years.
“I have accepted Jesus Christ as my personal Savior, and I endeavor every day to follow Him in all I do and in every position I advocate.”
-Ron Paul
It sounds to me that you don’t know po op from applesauce about Paul, Johnson, The Founding Fathers or The Constitution.

Posted on April 24, 2012 at 7:37amMr. Johnson, Ron Paul is “kooky” on defense. I could very well have supported him because of his strong support for Constitutional solutions to our nation’s problems. But his platform on foreign policy really is unrealistic. If disgruntled Republicans and those who will vote for anyone other than Romney, then Obama will win. Romney needs every vote he can garner. I did not perfer Romney, but I will not chance Obama’s re-election by voting for another party or candidate. I hope that people come to understand this — we have no alternative to Romney, it is him or no one.

* Make securing our borders the top national security priority.
Report Post »* Avoid long and expensive land wars that bankrupt our country by using constitutional means to capture or kill terrorist leaders who helped attack the U.S. and continue to plot further attacks.
* Guarantee our intelligence community’s efforts are directed toward legitimate threats and not spying on innocent Americans through unconstitutional power grabs like the Patriot Act.
* End the nation-building that is draining troop morale, increasing our debt, and sacrificing lives with no end in sight.
* Follow the Constitution by asking Congress to declare war before one is waged.
* Only send our military into conflict with a clear mission and all the tools they need to complete the job – and then bring them home.
* Ensure our veterans receive the care, benefits, and honors they have earned when they return.
* Revitalize the military for the 21st century by eliminating waste in a trillion-dollar military budget.
* Prevent the TSA from forcing Americans to either be groped or ogled just to travel on an airplane and ultimately abolish the unconstitutional agency.
* Stop taking money from the middle class and the poor to give to rich dictators through foreign aid.

It will be a good thing to get some Libertarians on the down ticket, and it would be a good thing for him to force the convention along with Newt. All these kids who think and have been fooled into thinking they are Democrats need to see the inclusive and the Libertarian alternatives. Obama hasn’t a snowballs chance regardless. A ham sandwich has more experience and a better record than obama. If a ham sandwich was President the last 3 years we would be much better off.. think about it.

We are not going to get change with Mitt. We need BIG reform and the 2 strongest candidates to do it were both undermined from the top. Newt would win 54 of the 57 States against obama. Mitt will win, but that’s not going to get real reform we need to drag the embedded alinky radicals up and down our bureaucracy over the last 3 years in particular. (unless mitt puts palin and bachmann in high office). Newt, bachmann,, palin would take the radicals apart top down, bottom up and inside out. Give them the resources and it’s done..
