Gay Country Singer Chely Wright Tells Current TV How She Reconciles Her Sexuality With Her Faith in Jesus

Chely Wright Tells Current TV How She Rectifies Being Gay With Faith in JesusCountry singer Chely Wright has achieved great success in the music industry. But unlike her more conservative counterparts, the artist comes with some intriguing twists.

For one, she’s a Christian and a lesbian — a bizarre mixture of faithful, gay and country that seems to defy the odds. This week, the activist spoke with comedian John Fugelsang, who was filling in for Eliot Spitzer on Current’s “Viewpoint,” to discuss her sexuality and how she rectifies it with her Christian faith.

The singer-songwriter has traveled the nation speaking about her sexuality and her Christian faith, highlighting the issues that traditionally exist between the two attributes. Recently, she released a documentary called “Wish Me Away,” in which her coming out process is documented.

(Related: Country Singer Carrie Underwood Cites Her Christian Faith in Gay Marriage Endorsement)

In dialoguing with Fugelsang, she claims that she first realized that she was gay at the age of 9, a point by which she had already been baptized and had an unusually “strong faith.”

Here’s a trailer for the film:

As a teenager, she tried to very literally “pray the gay away” (a line that is often used to describe the efforts of those who embrace reparative therapy and the notion that people can change their sexual orientation). She would appeal to God with the following words:

“Dear God, please don’t let me be gay. I promise to be a good person. I promise to do all the things you ask [me] to do. Please take it away. In your name I pray, amen.”

Wright went on to say that she eventually came to terms with her sexuality. She says that she realized, from a Christian perspective, that lying about her feelings was wrong. She also says she knew — through the gift of discernment — that God made her who she was.

If praying for the Lord to remove her sexual attraction was the answer, Wright claims she would have been delivered, as she spent a great deal of time on her knees and begging for the Lord to take the feelings away.

Chely Wright Tells Current TV How She Rectifies Being Gay With Faith in Jesus

Eventually, the pain became too much to handle. In 2006, she claims she had a gun in her mouth and was contemplating taking her own life — not because she’s a lesbian, but because she had created a web of lies she could no longer live under. After bowing down and praying to God for an answer — “a way” — she finally came to a resolution and embraced her sexuality.

“The way was that I needed to come out and start talking and never stop talking,” she told Fugelsang. ”I feel like I was delivered from my darkest hour to be positive.”

Today, Wright says she’s “the best me I’ve ever been.” The singer is married to Lauren Blitzer, a charity worker and author (the two wedded in 2011). They live in New York City.

Watch the intriguing Current interview, below (pay attention to the portion of the dialogue in which Fugelsang claims that the Bible represents two characters – a “God of love and light” and an “angry alcoholic step-God”):

Everyone should just calm down. She has to answer to God for her actions, let her live her life and answer to God when the day comes. She will not have to answer for any of our sins, and she is not judging us for them either, so keep it to yourself and remember that she and she alone will answer to God. Just worry about answering to God for your sins and do not worry about someone elses.

Has anyone ever heard of a hermaphrodite. I‘m not talking about someone who’s had a sex change. While it’s rare, there are people that are born with both sets of genitalia. They often undergo hormone therapy later in life to become one sex or the other, but continue on in their lives struggling with their sexuality. If Chely Wright was like that, how many of you would hold it against her?

Yup, God will indeed WISH ME (You) AWAY” as someone HE DOES NOT KNOW as you ignored his words:
Genesis 19:7-8 (read the entire context of several paragraphs)
Judges 19:23-24 (read the entire context of several paragraphs)
      Leviticus 18:22
      1 Corinthians 6:9
      1 Timothy 1:10
      Romans 1:26-27
The Apostle Paul, writing by inspiration of the Holy Spirit, declares that homosexuality “shall not inherit the kingdom of God” (I Corinthians 6:9; 10). Now Paul does not single out the homosexual as a special offender. He includes fornicators, idolators, adulterers, thieves, covetous persons, drunkards, revilers and extortioners. And then he adds the comment that some of the Christians at Corinth had been delivered from these very practices: “And such were some of you: But ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God” (I Corinthians 6:11).

All of the sins mentioned in this passage are condemned by God, but just as there was hope in Christ for the Corinthians, so is there hope for all of us.

THE KEY WORD IS “ABSTAIN” and asking for forgiveness and then doing it no more, as Jesus told the woman at the well.

      Randy,

Could you point me to the scripture stating those who commit the sin of homosexuality will not be permitted into Heaven despite accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior while whatever sins you currently struggle with will be overlooked allowing you to walk the golden streets? That is unless you are currently sinless now and will be in the future, never to stumble again with sin since the moment you first accepted Jesus as your Savior.

Your most petty sin is no different than homosexuality or murder in the since that Jesus died for them both. Hell will be your reward for both unless you accept Jesus.

      @WMGILL

      Now finish the story…

9 At this, those who heard began to go away one at a time, the older ones first, until only Jesus was left, with the woman still standing there. 10 Jesus straightened up and asked her, “Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you?”

11 “No one, sir,” she said.

“Then neither do I condemn you,” Jesus declared. “Go now and leave your life of sin.”

Notice the last part. Go and leave your life of sin… We have a responsibility to tell them of their sin, but not to give them the judgement that they deserve, which is death, God will take care of that. Because we are all sinners and condemned to die. The only way to be saved is to believe in Christ and to turn from our sins and follow Him…

She claims to be a Christian, because of that, she knows the word of God. She alone will have to answer to God for her sins. Christians need to worry about another threat, one that is greater and one that could cause the death of every Christian. Islam is now on the rise around the world. Islam considers all who does not follow the Koran to be an indfidel, and should be punished. I for one will not convert to Islam, I will go down fighting. It is a distraction to worry about people who claim to be Christian and gay at the same time. Islam is the true threat, the one that will begin the battle at Armegeddon that will bring the end of days. It is time to stop looking at the little things and concern ourselves who will we defend.

      SpeckChaser:
Jesus told the woman at the well to GO AND SIN NO MORE. So, if the woman at the well continued to sin, what do you think her penalty will be. GOD IS ONE OF JUSTICE. Personally, I truly think that any rewards she had as a Christian, will be stripped from her because she chose to DISOBEY GOD’S WORD. There’s your key: DISOBEDIENCE.

What do your parents do to you, if you are disobedient? How about if you continue your disobedience. Depending on whether or not your are a LIBERAL or you actually TAKE GOD AT HIS WORD, will be your answer. ONLY YOU CAN ANSWER THAT. But, God does tell us in his word that THE UNREPENTENT SINNER will not see GOD, nor will they enter Heaven. That is an ABSOLUTE TRUTH. Look it up in the Bible.

Most people who accept Christ and then go no further, will be those that God will spew out of his mouth as LUKE-WARM. You can’t accept Christ and then NOT FOLLOW HIM, which include all that Christ told us to do and not to do.

For example, if you do not improve at your job, you will either be:
      1. let go
      2. demoted

If you are going to serve God, YOU MUST BE OBEDIENT TO HIS WORD AS CHRIST DID in the wilderness. Jesus showed us that yes, we could it and MUCH MORE.

Followers of Christ are to be obedient daily, praying as the Spirit gives you utterance, and you are to continue LEARNING so you will have an answer (about Jesus) for any man that asks you.

Satan is the one who fools you into believing it is ok to do whateve

      Child of the King

      Romans 7: 14-25

We know that the law is spiritual; but I am unspiritual, sold as a slave to sin. I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. For I know that good itself does not dwell in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.

So I find this law at work: Although I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God’s law; but I see another law at work in me, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within me. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body that is subject to death? Thanks be to God, who delivers me through Jesus Christ our Lord! So then, I myself in my mind am a slave to God’s law, but in my sinful nature a slave to the law of sin.

      Cont…

Would you please explain were you get the idea that someone who struggles with homosexuality can be barred from Heaven but the sins you struggle with will be overlooked, allowing you to walk streets of Gold.

Romans 6:23 tells us “For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.”

This means all sin, weather stealing a candy bar or homosexuality. People tend to hold sins they don’t personally struggle with to higher degrees that the sins they do. Implying they are somehow superior to people who struggle with different sin. It just means you struggle in different areas.

Is murder worse that telling a white lie? Yes. Are they both sin? Yes. Will hell be the outcome if neither person accepts Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior? Yes.

The problem is many people do not understand what it means to be saved by grace, and whether they admit it or not, many think the Lord is lucky to have them as a follower.

My husband is writing a blog about this very issue — homosexuality and Christianity. It seems so straightforward that being gay is a sin–it says so in Leviticus, for cryin’ out loud (of course, Leviticus condemns many things!) But my question is: What EXACTLY is the sin of homosexuality? The sheer act of sodomy? Then how do you reconcile Jesus saying if you even THINK a hateful thought, you’ve committed murdered… lustful thought/adultery… Jesus seems to indicate that sin isn’t an act, but a condition of the heart.

I would invite anyone interested in thought-provoking discourse to please read my husbands blog: http://teamcurtiss.com/straight-answers-about-how-and-why-i-chose-my-pastor-who-is-gay/ … we were both raised in fundamental Christian homes — I was Southern Baptist, he was Charismatic/Pentecostal… we went to private schools, on mission trips, the whole nine yards. We BOTH LOVE God tremendously, and long for the good God we learned about in Sunday School. But I left the church because traditional church forced me to put on my “Sunday happy face”, and didn’t allow me to ask tough questions that I needed answering. I longed for an authentic faith that could withstand questions and challenges to my faith. I’ve since found a God who is much bigger than I ever imagined, and I am no longer afraid to boldly approach the throne of grace.

I agree, we should not judge her, only her sin. Many people claim to be Christian that is plain as day that they are lying out of their teeth like she is. What she claims does not affect us, only her, and she WILL find that out when she faces God. She can use whatever excuse she want to justify her homosexuality but that changes exactly NOTHING.

“Has anyone ever heard of a hermaphrodite?”
Yes I have heard of it and just because someone is born with an abnormality like that does not make them homosexual or whatever. And a true believer does not hold her homosexuality against her, they only pity her and especially pity her delusion that she is any way, any kind of Christian. She does not decide if she is or not, God does, and he will not make her one if she is using it to justify what is an abomination to Him and one that He REFUSES to have around him. And I figure that He does not appreciate her trying to justify herself by claiming that God made her that way, if she had the guts and the honesty she would admit what she knows and that is the she choose to be that way and tries to blame God for it. All I can say is that I pity her for where she is going if she does not repent and change.

@bearsgirl90 — When did you decide to become straight? Or have you just always “been that way”? I have asked gay people when they decided to become gay, and EVERY single one (and I know many) has said they knew at a very young age–my pastor knew when he was 5 (and had never been molested or anything)… and it had nothing to do with sex… Just like the crush I had on a little boy in kindergarten was not about my desire to have sex with him. I was simply attracted to him. Sexual preferences (i.e. homosexuality, heterosexuality) is about who you are attracted to and who you prefer for companionship… For example, as much as I love my husband, I didn’t marry him just for the sex. I married him because I want to build a life with him and I enjoy his companionship. The gay couples I know who have been together for years are the same way — they are best friends and companions.

      @Free_Man — THANK YOU!

Apparently, God created people that fall into the category of middle ground. If it is possible for a person to be born with both sets of completely functional genitalia and a chemical attraction to both sexes, could it be possible for a person to be born “chemically wired” to be attracted to someone of the same sex?

We can conclude Wright does not know God the same God you and I worship who hates this sin. Those that continue in their sin are given over to their desires, their heart is hardened and they are given over into their own sin to await comdemnation.
Wright is not a Christian by Bible standards and I can prove this. The Bible says “if you love me you will keep my commandments.” Obedience is an expression of love to God. Even to the point In the OT it says “to obey is better than sacrifice.” Wright does not love God. She only claims to with words. Furthermore salvation is a repentance. Repentance means in Greek “to turn around” “to change”. Repentance is not really an emotion but a choice to change. Wright has not changed so Wright is not saved in my opinion based upon the scripture. Without repentance there is no change or true beleif in Jesus Christ. Wright is most likely not saved. Furthermore, we know from scripture if a believer is caught up in sin and is truly savd, God will discipline them even unto death if need be. So if Wright can sin against God and openly talk about it and there is no discipline from God, she is not saved.

“Apparently, God created people that fall into the category of middle ground.”

Depends on the belief system of individuals.

Some might tell you that mutations, disorders, and conditions such as hermaphroditism is a product of sin, or caused by Satan, not a product of God.

Some athiests or secularists may say that its a product of genetics, in scientific terms a “condition”… Some may say a product of ‘bad genetics’, in scientific terms a “disorder”. It‘s something someone is born with and can’t do anything about.

The Bible is a library of 66 books written by about 40 authors. It contains law, history, poetry, songs, wisdom, literature, prophecy, & personal letters by men from all walks of life–shepherds, farmers, tent-makers, physicians, fishermen, priests, philosophers, kings, murderers, polygamists, and slave owners. It is inspired, but not the “very mind of Christ.” What is the Word of God?

John 1:1-3; 14: “In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made… And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.”

So the Bible tells us that:
-the “Word of God” has been around since before the beginning of time,
-The “Word of God” was WITH God — they are His words–not separate or external from Himself, but a reflection of who He is,
-the “Word of God” created ALL things…

And lastly, the Bible reveals that the “Word of God” became flesh and dwelt among us full of grace and truth. So as Christians reading John 1 we can easily agree that Jesus is the Word of God.

This is very important because, as Christians, we measure what we think and understand about ourselves and our faith by what He (the Word of God) says. (Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Fa

“Could you point me to the scripture stating those who commit the sin of homosexuality will not be permitted into Heaven despite accepting the Lord Jesus Christ as their Savior”
First off anyone that is in an active homosexual life does not accept Jesus Christ as their Savior because Jesus has to accept the person, the Bible STATES that homosexuality is an abomination and throughout the Bible it states that God will not accept abominations to His Laws. Also God will NOT inhabit the same place that evil is present. The evil must be cast out before God will allow His Holy Spirit to inhabit that person. Also, it states in several places that to truly accept Jesus as their Savior, they must also accept Jesus as their Lord. And throughout the Bible, God states that we are NOT to hold onto and continue in sin if they want to be accepted into His Presence.
“Your most petty sin is no different than homosexuality or murder in the since that Jesus died for them both. Hell will be your reward for both unless you accept Jesus.”
It states clearly that to accept Jesus is to desist in deliberate sin, especially continuous deliberate sin. It also states that when you ask Jesus into your life, you REPENT(this means don’t do it anymore) from your sins. She chooses to live in that sinful abomination (to God) and therefore she chooses to reject Jesus as her Lord. She CANNOT have it both ways. However, all we can really do is pray for her to reject her sinful lifes

Scroll up and read my post with Romans 7: 14-25. Paul, who believes in Jesus, is expressing his frustration with committing sins that he know are sins, despite having a desire to do what is right. So despite knowing the Lord disapproves of Paul’s sinful behavior, despite having a desire to do what is acceptable to the Lord, Paul continues doing what he knows is wrong. Do you see what I’m getting at?

If you have some Biblical evidence to why the sin in your life is not as serious as homosexuality, meaning your sin didn’t warrant the sacrifice Jesus made on the Old Rugged Cross, I would love to hear it. If not, your sin is no less harmful than homosexuality and should be treated with equal condemnation by yourself.

Please stop talking like that. I’m a Christian and read the Bible. All I know is that we all are going to have to answer to for our lives to Christ. Christ said if you break one of the laws you stand in judgement of all of them. Its very complicated and best left to Jesus to sort out. If you feel anything you should go to Jesus and pray for your self and the person who somehow offended you. Murders, child molester, violent people, and others should be condemned for their crimes. Let Jesus lead you in the path of love and leave hate behind you. You’ll feel much better I promise.

I couldn’t tell you, would probably depend on which Biblical perspective it comes from… So many different demoninations and interpretations out there. You’ll have to ask each individual church that!

You know as well as I, that back in the day, people tried to pigeon hole intersexed individuals into male or female, and did corrective surgery on them based on what the family wanted… when they were ‘young’! Only for the child to grow up and after puberty learn that he was more male or more female physically and emotionally both? That is to say hormonally the person may have been developing more male features or developing primarily female features. But no one could guess that from the beginning.

Is this kind of sex change any different than modern families trying to give their prepubsecent children gender changes?

I was curious to find out what various Christian denominations might say about intersexed individuals. To my surprise there are actually Christian apologetics that discuss the very issue.

      Here is one such site, I don’t know which particular church they originate from (it takes the approach that hermaphroditism is a byproduct of sin, and not part of “God’s original design” for a perfect world, much like being born with any other congenital disease/disorder/defect is not part of the original design);

      It goes on to explain (again this isn’t my explanation);

“God’s intention of the genders is that those born males act like males and those born females act like females. But, in rare instances there are babies born with the sexual organs of both sexes. Why is this? First of all, sin is in the world and it sometimes takes its tolls on our bodies resulting in various deformities. Nevertheless, in the case of hermaphroditism, the identity of the individual is still intended by God to be one or the other. After all, God would not make someone in contradiction to His created order and purpose. This means the hermaphrodite, thought physically ambiguous, does possess an identity of one or the other. It would seem best, then, to let the hermaphrodite grow and decide with which gender to side since he/she would know his/her own identity internally. If surgery is elected to make the decision permanent by altering the body to represent one or the other gender, then that seems like a reasonable choice to make.

Second, it appears that most, if not all, hermaphrodites have a definite side they take as they develop since there is an internal genetic (XX, XY) dominance even though there is an external ambiguity. It is the internal genetic dominance that determines male and female — even though sometimes mutations occur that leave both sexual organs…Either way, the genetic dominance is the gender and the person will manifest that dominance as he or she matures.”

Here’s the problem with your view of Romans Ch.7.

One, it’s not the only chapter in the book. Ch. 6 tells us we have been made free from sin by the blood of Christ and now we need to declare war on sin in our mind, that is…we must make a mental decision to resist the temptation, particularly the lust of the flesh.

Second, Ch. 7 deals with “those who know the Law”…that is, the Law of Moses which identified what sin is in the eyes of God. What Paul is saying in Ch. 7 is that during the age of the Law, there was no mechanism to provide the needed power to overcome sin and the OT saints were destined to fail even though they didn’t want to.

Thirdly, chapter 8 is where we find the second half of the answer to the sin problem among believers. The indwelling power of the Holy Spirit is with us at all times to help us grow and give us the strength to overcome “the lust of the flesh” which is what all sexual sin really is. Ch. 8:13 says that if we live after the flesh (that is, if we give in and embrace sin and call it good and natural) we will die. But if we through the power of the Holy Spirit put to death the deeds of the flesh we will live.

Lastly…over and over again we are instructed by the Lord Jesus and the apostle Paul to renounce and resist sin. Go and sin no more, do not conform to this world, do not walk as other gentiles walk, walk worthy of the Lord and please Him, etc

Christians do commit sins but we are never given perm

“your sin is no less harmful than homosexuality and should be treated with equal condemnation by yourself.”
The difference of the two is that God does consider sexual sin worse because that sin is passed on and on and on to others. However, you are absolutely correct on that every sin is just as bad as any other, primarily because the greater part of the sin is “disobedience” to God. The big difference between one sin and another (such as hers and mine) is that I do not deliberately do the same sin over and over and expecting it to be accepted by God. I sin, I ask God for forgiveness for my imperfect sinful body/mind. Her greatest sin is blaming God for her sin and apparently convincing herself that God does accept her and her sin because “He made her that way”. That part is pure rotten dog poop! God DOES accept HER but does not accept her sin, and by deliberately living that lifestyle, she is rejecting God even though she claims the opposite!

When a person genuinely puts their faith=trust=belief in Jesus as their savior they are born again and saved from eternal judgment regardless of how they live their life but the positive influence of the Holy Spirit in the life of a Christian ought to begin to show before very long. I for one cannot say that the lady has fallen from Grace but she is definitely on thin ice. The Corinthian Church is the best example of Christian error and how did God deal with them…He gave them spiritual gifts…WOW!!! BUT… He also sent Paul to correct their behavior. He said to them, “don’t you know who you are”…you are so much better than this. Your body is the temple of God and the power and presence of the Holy Spirit is within you to enable you to rise above the power of sin. What this woman is doing is causing great damage to the cause of Christ among unbelievers.

Salvation is conditioned upon a person choosing to remain in the faith until the day they die and embracing the sin of homosexuality at the very least grieves the Holy Spirit inside and then it begins to sear the conscience…ultimately she is spitting on the sacrifice and turning away from the righteousness of the God she once trusted. We can commit sin to a point where we are beyond feeling the leading of Holy Spirit and after some time God simply says OK…if this is really how you want to live your life…and he lets you go.

For those who put themselves in God’s chair you must have decided the first commandment Moses brought down (OT) saying Thou shall not put other Gods before me is null and void as you now bring final judgement. Do you not “get it”? The OT is the foundation. The NT is salvation. NT mentions those who elevate and pretend to be Christians. Also NT tells us to love our neighbor. Faith hope and charity. Believe it or not, God loves ALL of His children, not just the ones that are perfect. Whether they are homosexual or not, theives or not, liers or not, God loves us all. While I think that we all have to answer for our own sins, we should not push our beliefs on others that are not willing to see God the way we do. Funny things about religion, everyone believes something different, but supposedly we worship the same God. We can pray to God and he will answer you, it just may not be the answer you want to hear, but he does answer us. The question you have to ask yourself is “Does God want you to hate others?” or does he want you to lead by his example? So many of us want to live as God wants us to live, but we do not. If you are a true Christian, do not speak hatefully, speak of God’s love. Do not hate others because they do not believe as you believe, but try to be an example for others to follow. Jesus Christ would not condemn the person, but would condemn the act, He would still show love to the person without approving the sin. Let us all try to live that way.

Uh, no one is arguing that. The issue is, is she on of God’s children? We are NOT all God’s children. In fact, Jesus made it clear in the gospels that unbelievers are the children of Satan. We are all God’s creation. Only the born again are God’s children.

It’s a bit self-righteous and prideful to believe that since you willing to overlook her sin that you are more righteous than the rest of us. The word “hate” is the new “racist”. Disagreement is not hate. Besides, hate is not necessarily a sin if it is a hate of wickedness.

If you had actually read the bible you would discover that homosexual sex is just as much a sin as adultery. And that even lusting is just as much a sin as adultery. So homosexuals are no more a sinner than a 16 year old boy masturbating or a 60 year old priest founding a young boy or a 55 year old politician having an affair with an intern or you checking out the babe in the miniskirt. We are all sinners in God’s eyes. No one sin is any more severe than any other. So if you are going to condemn one lesbian singer, you are commending yourself.

the reason some sins are considered more grievous than others, is the effect the particular sin has on the innocent. If you are a sneak thief in private and appear righteous, that is a private sin and easily repented,(quit stealing, pay back what you stole.) If one young person is led to homosexuality because of this young woman‘s very ’public’ flaunting of Christian tenets, how can she ever put that rabbit back in the hat? She will be held responsible!

@ Nomark: I don’t think many of us have a problem with her being gay. I certainly don’t. She can be the king of gay for all I care. I struggle with her hiding behind the fact that God says it is OK for her to be gay. God does not, nor will not contradict Himself. He said it is wrong, therefore it is. It is not a greater sin than any other, but sin nonetheless. She can even be a christian and be gay. Once you become a christian, you don’t magically stop sinning. However you can’t say that it is ok to do the sin. It would be like me saying I am part lion and part human. It is factually inaccurate, it is IMPOSSIBLE. She is a liar for saying God let her know it is fine that she is gay, it is IMPOSSIBLE for God to be OK with homosexuallity.

That statement and only that statement is the problem with what she is saying.

“There is no middle ground on judging others”

While there are certainly verses on not judging others, least ye be judged. Well on the other end of the spectrum there are verses about ‘rebuking’ a brother/sister, if they persist in a sin.

      Servant/MEMYSELF

Y’all are off topic. The issue we are discussing is will a person who has accepted Jesus go to heaven if they are homosexual, nothing else. Since the wages of sin are death, for our example, homosexuality can be substituted for any other sin and the answer will be the same. So do you think one who tells a white lie, knowing it is a sin still is allowed into heaven?

Better yet, substitute homosexuality with a sin you may struggle with, despite knowing better. Will you be allowed into Heaven? Are you ready to condemn yourself to hell for committing sins you know are wrong before and after you comment them, and knowing in the future you will commit them again. Is your sin held to a lesser degree than homosexuality, not warranting the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross?

Servant, you said, “I do not deliberately do the same sin over and over”

You don’t? Do you sin by accident? Is it something you realize after the fact and were unaware it was sin before you committed the act?

The hom0sexual lifestyle is a abomination to God..
Meaning GOD hates this lifestyle ..
Satan Took what GOD made and perverted it…
Then hom0sexuals are trying to tell God …
      What he (GOD) created…. wasn’t perfect…
And by declaring a hom0sexuals life is no different than what GOD intended..
      The (hom0sexuals)are judging GOD.

@lawrench: you don’t seem to realize that sin hurts everyone. my sin hurts you, whether you know it or not. a friend invites me to her house, sleeps w/ her boyfriend (though we’re all 3 devout Catholics) doesn’t see what the big deal is & I spend a year w/ flashbacks to being sexually abused as a child for years in just such a “what’s the big idea” atmosphere. sin hurts more people than you will ever know this side of heaven. Ms. Wright’s sin encourages others to sin. it increases an atmosphere where sin doesn’t matter, where sin is no big deal.

get this, sin is a big deal. & leading others to sin is an even bigger deal. all the girls & boys who are innocent right now but won’t be when they learn their cool heroine Chely Wright is gay will harm Ms. Wright & themselves & all those who follow after. what do you think God visiting sin on further generations is all about? it isn’t a dark God (as she seems to think), the God of the OT & the God of the NT. there’s one God & He’s not the one passing down sin. we are. Ms. Wright is. and that’s one of the biggest f*****g deals in existence.

Why don’t we all just use the Bible to justify all the sin in our life? Oh wait……we do. The fact of the matter is the Bible is VERY CLEAR THAT HOMOSEXUALITY IS A SIN. Simple….when 2 women or 2 men together can pro-create…..they can claim that God is ok with gays. I noticed something many years ago about commandments, sins, God’s laws, and the tendencies of men.

When it’s someone else, hang ‘em high. When it’s you, Lawdy, Lawdy, FORGIVE ME!

It’s pathetic, it’s hypocritical, it’s evil. You all know, bone-deep, that gay people don’t choose this. They’re born that way. That means it isn’t their fault. This isn’t some “lifestyle”, like skinny jeans, lattes, and a penchant for soft jazz. They aren’t going to get tired of it when something else becomes trendy. It’s the way they ARE. Give the bigotry a REST.

But no. You want them hung by their thumbs for their “abominations”. Nevermind your own sins. THOSE, you want forgiven, every Sunday, because you went to church and were properly pious. Every week, you get washed clean by the blood of the Lamb, but you won’t let them be washed clean, ever.

The biggest obstacle you have is because you keep saying commandments with the “Thous” in them: THOU shalt do this, THOU shalt do that…as though you‘re in God’s shoes. Remember that He told US to do them. The proper way for us to read them isn’t as Commandments, but as PROMISES. I SHALL NOT Murder…I shall not steal. I shall not bear false witness. You see?

When you stop telling others what to do when you quote them, you stop thinking of His laws as applying to everyone BUT YOU. Shortly after, you start being properly humble, and stop thinking everyone has to live the way you think is right.

Well here is the problem, if you asked any person in the political world in or out of elected office between the founding of the republic through the 1960′s they would have gone off on a moral tangent against homosexuality. Today, they will talk for ten minutes about how wonderful they are before saying that they want to deny them the right to marry. Is it any wonder that so many get confused, after all if they are so wonderful how would you want to deny them anything? Years ago a preacher told me that there is nothing wrong with Gays in and of themselves. He said that rather, acceptance of homosexuality is the straw that breaks the camels back. By the time you reach a point where homosexuality is accepted by a society, said society has already lost it’s moral compass.

Interesting comment that clearly illustrates just how uneducated this lady is when it comes to prayer. God doesn’t always answer our prayers in the way we are seeking. If she doesn’t believe that, she isn’t following the teachings of Jesus Christ and that answers a whole lot of questions.

Homosexuality is AN ACQUIRED BEHAVIOR. Feelings will always deceive you BECAUSE SATAN IS ALWAYS WHISPERING IN YOUR MIND TO GET YOU TO SIN AGAINST GOD.

If homosexuality is NOT an acquired behavior in humans then how could God, being a just God, condemn it? HE HAS CONDEMNED IT THROUGHOUT HIS WORD, THE BIBLE.
It would be like condemning someone for having blue eyes, it wouldn’t be fair. But in both the Old (Lev. 20:13) and New (Romans 1:26-27) Testaments, God condemns homosexuality as a perversion. Therefore, it has to be an ACQUIRED BEHAVIOR.

For many years (at least six), I had desired badly to have just one more baby. Every month I‘d pray ’please, Father, please’, yet my prayer was not answered in the way I had wanted. I started begging God to at least take the desire away from me if having another baby was not in His plan. And holy cats did He do that.
My one daughter was in her teenage years and hooked up with a real bad crowd. My husband and I spent many nights driving around looking for her, bugged our phone, couldn’t leave our house for worry of what may go on. I wouldn’t wish that year on anyone. By the end of it, we were absolutely and completely exhausted. I thought to myself, if I were to get pregnant and have to face this again in 16 years, could I do so as diligently or successfully? I knew I could not. Desire was wiped away.
If I were like Miss Wright, I would have thrown up my hands and said so be it (as I’ve seen some parents do). No excuses for doing wrong in His eyes. Sometimes God will bring us to the breaking point before turning things around if that is what it takes to affect change.
Although it was one of the most difficult things I have gone through, I thank God for it. Multiple lessons learned. My daughter is very close to my husband and me. And God was not mocked.

I have more solid, empirical reason for my faith than anyone who believes in evolution! I know for a fact what I believe is right and true, as do millions of others.

You are blinded to God. That is not an opinion, it is a fact. The blinders have been lifted from my eyes. That is not conceit, or trying to be “better” than you, it is simply what happens. It happened relatively late in my life, in my 30′s, so I lived through it, I experienced it. There is a Johnny Cash song called “I was there when it happened (so I guess I ought to know)”. Youtube it, listen to the lyrics. It is what EVERY born again Christian experiences. Just because you have not had this experience, do not fool yourself into thinking it is false.

      @TROLLTRAINER

      Re-read what I said.

Nowhere did I say you take anything on blind faith(though one could argue that it is the only type of faith).

To say you have empirical evidence is hilarious and makes me question whether or not you know what the definition of empirical evidence. You may have what you consider non-empirical evidence, but surely not empirical.

To say you have “evidence” for your “faith” is an oxymoron. Once you have evidence, you don’t need faith.

      With evidence, faith is dead
      Without faith, religion is dead.

Don’t do your stance a dis-service by saying you have evidence.

Why do I have to “believe” in Jesus before his supposed “return?” Why do I have to have faith in him before he comes back? When he supposedly returns and starts performing crazy miracles and then I say, “oh yeah, obviously he was the messiah and died on the cross for my sins. I apologize for not seeing this earlier.” Why in your religion is that not good enough for me to avoid hell? No, Christianity requires that I accept it before I have evidence.

Why did the people of Jesus’s time get supposedly obvious miracles?(walking on water, water into wine, raising from the dead) Surely they’re not better then me? Why do they get better evidence?

Why do I have to rely on things like, “omg I prayed for my back pain to go away and it did!, it’s a miracle!” It’s so hilariously fake.

I think that anytime you ask God to remove a deep desire, you must meet him half way. When I asked God to remove my desire for cigarettes back in the very early 80s, my attempt to meet Him half way was that I threw them into the trash and then immediately THANKED AND PRAISED HIM for what He was about to do for me.

I was instantly delivered and my entire family can attest to that. I never doubted for a second that He could do this and HE DID.

So, if this lady was to lay everything down before God, HE WOULD TAKE THAT DESIRE FROM HER. But, I really doubt she would do that because success and her physical desires mean more to her than God does. She is what I call a lip-service Christian.

Straights are always flaunting our sexuality all over the place. Just last week at a Straight Pride parade I was talking to one of my straight friends about it. He said that when he came out and told everyone he was straight he made sure that everyone he knows knew that he was not hiding it any more and that he was straight. The hardest part was telling his liberal parents. They just couldn’t accept that they had raise a straight son.

Good thing my parents were conservative Christians, they were much more welcoming when I came out and told them I was straight.

Oh wait…..none of that ever happened because STRAIGHTS DON’T FLAUNT IT! Stop using lame straw arguments to justify that gays (some gays, not all), for whatever reason, think the whole world needs to know. I don‘t want to know and I don’t care. This is why THOSE WHO ARE OBEDIENT CHRISTIANS, READ THEIR BIBLES AND PRAY DAILY, these are actually FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST and NOT Christians.

It takes more than that though. You must be made HOLY before God’s eyes by being washed in the blood of Jesus Christ, asking forgiveness for ALL YOUR SINS (we have all sinned and come short of the glory of God), and accept Jesus as your PERSONAL SAVIOR.

Then, as a FOLLOWER OF CHRIST, you DAILY, DAILY, DAILY, pray and read your Bible so you CAN GROW IN THE FAITH OF OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST AND PRODUCE FRUITS – GOOD FRUITS, I call Jesus fruits. Without doing the daily stuff, you are JUST A CHRISTIAN, luke-warm at best and GOD WILL SPEW YOU OUT OF HIS MOUTH, according to the book of Revelation, UNLESS YOU BELIEVE IN “ONCE SAVED ALWAYS SAVED”, which I do NOT per se. I actually believe that if you continue to sin AND NEVER ASK FOR FORGIVENESS, then you were not saved to begin with. But, that is my opinion.

THOSE WHO ARE DEVOUT FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST, STAND UP AND CALL YOURSELF THIS – NOT ‘CHRISTIAN’. It is such a CHEAP WORD anymore.

Just believing in God does not make you a Christian, you also must accept Christ as your Lord and Savior and you must follow God’s Laws. Marrying another female is not following God’s law. The Bible clearly states that women with women is an abomination. To me this hold a higher “infraction” than the normal 10 commandment sin.

Sorry Chely, but you are not Christian; you can claim it all you want, but you are not deceiving God. Your are deceiving yourself and Satan has you in his site.

They ignore, condone and practice a wide-range of sins but, for no reason whatsoever, condemn homosexuality as the worst of all sins, the only to be concerned with.

If you think God gives you a right to sin bc you came to grips with your sin on your own, then you have a serious problem with your Faith. You also have a much bigger problem if you share your opinion, which is all it is, with others and lead them astray. I feel God does give us chance after chance bc He is a Loving God and will never forsake us if we continue to come to Him in this life but there will be no sinners in Heaven bc that is why He sent His Son to give us an opportunity to repent before we cross over. All of God’s children with a soul on this planet still have time no matter what they have done, but they must humble themselves and admit the Truth as we have been forewarned in the Good Book. I pray all gays and lesbians come to this understanding before it is too late.Jesus is there for all of us but even He said He had to answer to the Father before the Transformation would be completed. It is not okay for unbelievers to disobey the law of God, but because they do not believe in God they should not let that stop them. The truth is we are ALL, as in every single human that has ever walked this earth, EXCEPT Jesus Christ, we are ALL doomed to hell. The only way to get out of this is to accept Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior.

Since you refuse to do that then you might as well be gay. In fact, I think it is inconsistent that an unbeliever would not just loot, rape, and pillage their way through life. They are going to hell anyway, why not enjoy it as much as you can while here? It is all YOU got!

God did not “make” her this way. After the fall, sin and death entered the world. We have been degenerating ever since, and faster as theosis disappears from our world by our own choices. She was no more “created gay by God” than one can argue a pedophile, a rapist or a mass murderer was “created by God.” God does not create us sinful, we have that tendency as a result (NOT AS GUILT, however) from the fall.

Agreed! Romans 1 is clear. If a gay person says “I was born that way”, my response would be, we are all born sinners. The old self/man/woman has to die. “You must be Born Again in Christ, the new man emerges.
What angers me is now if you disagree with homosexuality, you are a “homophobe.” There is no way in a gay persons mind to disagree. Disagreement has to be ridiculed as “cave-man ish”, uneducated, bigot, or the real goal, illegal. There is certainly no way to disagree with the lifestyle based on what the bible says or based on obvious/physical truth, or to disagree in a humble, loving way. You are just an idiot if you don’t agree with them now and vote that way and openly support everything they demand and sue over.

TC — no, disagreement is not homophobic. You are right. Where the homophobia comes in is the rancor and energy Christians devout to homosexuality over all other sins. It is somehow finding in the Bible that homosexuality is the worst of all sins. It is in the hypocrites, that while condoning or engaging in others sins, tells a homosexual they cannot be Christian and will find themselves in Hell.

And the “great falling away” continues, as we have “private revelation and discernment” touted as Gospel.

This type of thing is exactly what is explained to happen during the “last days,” wrong will be called right and bad will be called good. Being homosexual IS NOT A SIN in itself, rather it is acting on the act which is SINFUL! Realizing one’s orientation (act not LOVE), and pledging celebacy is a gift from and to God! Relizing that God is not providing a suitable “helpmate” as a spouse if one is heterosexual, and again pledging celebacy is the same gift from and to God.

Loving others without needing to “go to bed with them,” either sex or any age, race, or orientation is the type of LOVE that comes from God and reflects God. Respecting one‘s self and an other to NOT WANT to USE THEM FOR ONE’S OWN PLEASURE or to not WANT TO SHARE CARNEL PLEASURE WITH THEM, is an expression of love at its highest!

Sex has its place, and is wonderful, but it is so perverted now that it is cheap and taudry!

This interview is nothing but rationalization of a secular “religious” thought and justification of improper actions.

Love God, Love self, Love others in His LOVE!

Some Christian — The ones who truly accept Jesus as their lord and savior may never beat their fleshly sin, but the difference is a Christian knows it’s a sin and tell others it is.
See I like to drink and I know I have a problem with it, but I know it’s a SIN and I do good for months sometimes a year at a time but sooner or later I fall off the wagon, but I love Jesus with all my heart and I repent my short comings.
