Gay Couple ‘Devastated’ After Allegedly Botched IVF Results in Babies of Different Races

A gay couple in London is reportedly “devastated” after an alleged in vitro fertilization mix-up left them with two children from different racial backgrounds, NewsCore reported.

The couple said the allegedly botched treatment only came to light recently after their second child was born; they had wanted to use the same sperm donor again so their children would be genetically related.

“The damage to the [younger] child in the future, to both the siblings and the family unit could be quite catastrophic,” said Caron Heyes, the couple’s lawyer.

The U.K.‘s Human Fertilisation and Embryology Authority is investigating the London Women’s Clinic, where the mistake is alleged to have taken place.

“Our primary concern is for the patients involved and their confidentiality,” an agency spokeswoman told London’s Sunday Times, according to the Daily Mail. “They are understandably very distressed about the incident and the fact that it has become public knowledge.”

Dr. Kamal Ajuja, the clinic’s head, has reportedly hired an independent expert to look into what happened but would not comment on the ongoing investigation.

Clinic lawyers said the chances of a donor sperm mix-up are less than 0.02 percent, according to the Daily Mail.

Still, mistakes are not unheard of: According to NewsCore, a white couple unsuccessfully sued in 2010 after having a black child from the wrong donor sperm. A 2002 case involving a white couple resulted in mixed-race twins after an Asian man’s sperm was mistakenly used.

“All we wanted was a family. Instead, we were landed with a nightmare that will last forever,” the woman later said.

Approximately 13,000 babies were born in the U.K. in 2009 as a result of IVF treatment, according to the HFEA.

      Sorry to tell you this but the damage to those children will go FAR deeper then the color of their skin….
      They should get jail time for what they have done to those kids!!!
      Commonsense would tell you just how dangerous it is to put children in a home with sexually deviant people!!! What on earth are those doctors thinking???? Pray for those kids. And pray those “parents” find Jesus. What a tragedy!

      Every one of the comments I read so far are a raciest, prejudice, homophobic, or is an uneducated comment. The gay couple said they were “devastated” not that they wouldn’t love the children and that they were unhappy it was made public. I am sure you would be devastated too if you thought you paid for and expected something as important as a child in your particular race and you did not get the child of that race. If so, that would make you a hypocrite. Recent study 18 – 24 year olds were asked what 3 words or phrases came to mind when they heard the word Christian. The answers were: close-minded, hypocrite, and anti-gay. All of you stubbornly unreceptive people who are not ready for change need to HURRY UP AND LEARN if you want your children to be Christian. Also, every psychology study I have read said that a child that grows up with same-sex parents have the exact same problems as a child with parents of the opposite sex. In other words, there are NO ADDED problems for a child to grow up with same-sex parents. In fact, I know they wouldn’t have the narrow-minded view of you people. Furthermore, homosexual love IS NOT A SIN.

      Jesus taught the new covenant that superseded the old covenant handed down to Moses. So, that takes out the issues of shellfish, wearing two types of clothing, and homosexuality. Also, homosexuality was not even a word until 1869 and the King James Bible was translated by 47 translators. So, there were mistranslation errors in Timothy. Lastly, Jesus never mentioned the word homosexual. And if you still have a problem, read below:

      I find it admirable that people are willing to adopt children no matter what race. A white couple I know adopted an Asian child. The child now has a family to care for her and will keep her safe and healthy. Would they see that as a bad thing? Well, if he was Woody Allen I suppose it would be. LOL

      @ Director: You sound like the only sane person on this thread. I don’t know how any of you Christians can have such contempt for children. So the gay couple had IVF, good for them. I’m not in favor of gay marriage, but I figure live and let live. I don’t want them to tell me what to do in my personal life and so I give them the same courtesy.

      As far as the clinic goes, this is a serious error on their part. What if the sperm that was put into the woman was from her father or brother? There is a huge potential liability and the clinic should be rightfully sued for this oversight.

      The word homosexual was not even a word until 1869! There are many different definitions of a person who was a eunuch. The eunuch mentioned here was GAY!!!

      Hey BlackYB did you read the article even. Since the couple are “GAY” they have no chance in Heaven or Hell of having a baby, physiologically impossible without “MALE” intervention. And who does not forget our High School Biology class where they tell you that even two white rabbits can on occasion produce a “Black” offspring, guess what if they find that the donor is white. I will prove that point even more. In that it is the fact that we still don’t have a handle on how to manipulate DNA to totally create the outcome we want.     The reasons Gays cannot reproduce with one another is that is it not natural. They were not ment to have children, or they would be able too. They only people who have children are if one is a male and one is a female, then they will be blessed with children. Those who have sex outside of marriage are given a gift that is not going to bless them because it is a stolen and outside the confines of marriage. These children are often left for someone else to support because one or the other of the parents are not interested in child rearing in the first place. It takes about more strength than one parent has to raise a child in a single parent home. The child is often less able to compete with other who have a two parent family. It is a result of selfishness and sin. The children suffer. Pawning them off on “gay” people should not be a consideration. Gay people want their cake and eat it too, just like unmarried people who have children. The children are not getting anything they deserve. This is a symptom of a Godless and sick society. People need to have leaders who set examples of right and wrong, and who are willing to acknowlege God in their speech, actions and offices. Those need to understand they are not killing God, but are killing any future with peace and love their children may have. We cannot legislate morality, but we can acknowlege God and set examples by our behavior that will lead people in the right direction. Right now we are breeding a nation of psychopaths.

    So having children with different external features is now a “nightmare”. What nonsense is this? It’s not as though the parents would likely let their children meet the sperm donor anyways. I have a friend whose parents adopted a young girl with obviously different skin color and she has since grow up to be a very happy preteen. These “parents” are the only ones making an issue out of it so it will be their fault if there are problems later on.

    Well then, hope they don’t ever release the parents names. Wouldn’t want the little kid googling them to find out they considered his birth a “Nightmare”.
