California Gay Rights Activists Protest Michele Bachmann With Madonna Flash Mob Dance

Gay rights activists protested GOP presidential candidate Michele Bachmann’s appearance at the California Republican convention Friday with a flash mob-style dance to protest the Minnesota congresswoman’s anti-gay positions.

While Bachmann was delivering a speech to convention-goers inside a Los Angeles hotel, the group gathered outside to dance to  Madonna’s “Like a Prayer” — a reference to the so-called “reparative therapy” purportedly practiced at the Minnesota clinic co-owned by Bachmann and her husband.

A video of the routine shows participants quickly joining together to line up in formation as one dancer calls “Pray the gay away! That’s right, we‘re here and we’re not going anywhere!”

“Understand that America is stronger through diversity and that being gay or lesbian or bisexual or transgender is no more of a choice than being a human being,” one activist told local TV station KTLA in an interview.

During her California trip, Bachmann also made an appearance “The Tonight Show” where she made a joke about reparative therapy and the phrase “pray away the gay.”

“When I heard that, I really thought it was kind of a midlife crisis line: ‘Pray away the gray,’” Bachmann said, pointing to her hair. “That’s what I thought it was.”

This isn’t the first time Bachmann has been targeted by gay rights activists — in July, a group staged a protest and “glittered” the waiting room of the Bachmanns’ clinic.

….I believe there is a shirt that says exactly what I am hoping to communicate – “If only closed minds came with closed mouths.” There are far too many people who, though have all the right in the world to believe what they want to and feel how they want to, are cruel in how they act towards homosexuals. I myself am gay and while I am all for gay rights, I agree that I too find this act to be a little silly :D However, when was the last time you heard of a gay man/women running a explosive car into a Cooks Children hospital?! It is a very over dramatic statement to say that, in general, homosexuals are evil vile people. The same thing could be said about any other person. To discriminate against any one group of people because of race, gender, age, religion or sexual orientation is narrow minded and is what has plagued human kind with the problems we have today. This isn‘t to say that there aren’t stereotypes that fit the bill. However, If anyone believes that you can determine that someone is a bad person based completely off of the fact that they are (Gay, lesbian, black, white, rich, poor, skinny, fat, tall, short, Hispanic, Asian, American, etc. etc) then you cast yourself into the same fire as them. You are just as stereotypical as anyone else at that point! Just saying :D

They are not satisfied with ending DADT. Next on the agenda is national recognition of gay marriage. Next is putting the breaks on 1st Ammendment free speech. They can not stand to know that pastors and religious leaders can preach from the Bible. Once they stop the free speech, it will be to lower the age of consent for children. The true answer is: It doesn’t matter what the individual participating in these things think they are dancing/fighting for the end game is….There is none….Right now they are fighting for “equal rights” it will morph, and morph….powerful things don’t like to say okay we got what we wanted….Like the NAACP they will find ways to keep the money flowing into the organization, and keep gay hate alive….just like NAACP keeps black hate alive…Unions are another example of out living their usefulness……the money and power coming in is not something they want to give up lightly….

We have exchanged the fact that homosexuality and related issues are mental conditions with insane policies to give them special statuses. Conservatives blame liberals all the time for playing the victim, but no one has more tortured the logic of victimization than the conservatives! How are gays getting married forcing ANYTHING on you? That would be like saying that two consenting adults being married in a catholic ceremony is tantamount to FORCING everyone to be catholic. When people get married in the US in Hindu ceremonies, do you feel FORCED to be a Hindu? When people are married as a result of arranged marriages, does that mean you too are FORCED to be in an arrainged marriage?

Second- Just because a “group” wants to change the forever(since the beginning of time) used definition of a word(marriage) or any word for that matter it doesn’t mean they are right.(they have already messed up the definition of the word word Gay)” among others.
Third- The Gays are ‘“FORCING” us to accept a new definition of a word(so who is doing the “FORCING”
Fourth.-If the gays want to be“ Equal”Maybe they should work at changing the word . I just hope they don’t succeed.

PUBLIUSPENCILGUY, I am not aware that “marriage” is a universal civil right. Living and sleeping with whomever (adult) you choose is certainly a civil right. Marriage does bring with it certain legal privileges and responsibilities which should also be available to gay couples. Many countries have made it possible for gay couples to enjoy these privileges and responsibilities without calling it marriage. Gay couples who take advantage of these laws usually prefer it that way. Here we have an example of semantically (“MARRIAGE”) perpetuating what is an easily resolvable non-issue for many homosexuals–all in the interest of manipulating a “block” of voters.

Marriage itself is not a universal civil right, no more than the ability to drink at any drinking fountain you want is. Nevertheless, if you say that only “whites” can drink from a certain drinking fountain, you are making people unequal in the face of the law–THAT‘s a violation of someone’s civil rights.

      Bikerr,
The “God’s image” spiel is nowhere in the Constitution, and has no place in the laws of this country, so that’s jsut hot air. Please stay on topic.
Marriage throughout history has included polygamy, nonconsensual relationships, and marriage to minors. The current idea of two consenting adults is relatively new, so you just didn’t think that one through.
Since allowing gays to marry will have absolutely no bearing on the definition of your own marriage, I still don’t see how you are forced into anything.

@ Publius: How are gays getting married forcing ANYTHING on you?

When they demand the “right” to get married in a church that doesn‘t believe it’s right. When they demand or bully to get married at the county clerk’s office even though that person disagrees with it. When they demand a photographer take their wedding pictures even though the photographer views it as sin. When they demand that we recognize their marriage even if it goes against the teachings of our faith… we’re called bigots (and sometimes sued) if we don’t “accept” their lifestyle. So how are we forced? Those examples are how.

      Scarebear,

All of those points you could apply to interracial marriage, and yet there are very few people anymore who think it wasn’t the right thing to legalize it where it was previously banned.

Fortunately, we don’t live in a country that only affords people equal rights when they are in no danger of offending anyone with them. But really, in what ways would you be forced to “recognize” these marriages that would be against your conscience? It would seem that the simple solution would be to just mind your own business, like a good libertarian (and not like the fake Tea Party kind).

And as for the county clerk: if your job is to sign marriage licenses and you refuse to do your job and serve the people by signing a legal license, it’s time to find another job.

An anti gay demonstration would be an attempt to keep someone from having rights. So no, we would not have to sit through it and there would be a lot of controversy, and for good reason. It’s simply wrong to deny a person their rights rights. It’s not wrong to want to no longer be stifled and kept from basic liberties.

      Actually, it is. See Loving v. Virginia, 388 U.S. 1 (1967),

“Marriage is one of the ”basic civil rights of man,” fundamental to our very existence and survival…. To deny this fundamental freedom on so unsupportable a basis as the racial classifications embodied in these statutes, classifications so directly subversive of the principle of equality at the heart of the Fourteenth Amendment, is surely to deprive all the State’s citizens of liberty without due process of law. The Fourteenth Amendment requires that the freedom of choice to marry not be restricted by invidious racial discrimination. Under our Constitution, the freedom to marry, or not marry, a person of another race resides with the individual and cannot be infringed by the State.”

You won’t have teachers being openly gay teachers teaching our impressionable youth being missled and later commiting suicide when they find out that they were loied to by a teacher. Sorry, this is actually for the man below. The guy who says that gays will rule the world some day lol Your so sweet :3 I‘d give you a kiss on the cheek if I didn’t think you’d explode the “Gay Germs” I’d give ya LMBO!!! Seriously? This is what you have to offer? I agree that a majority of the homosexuals I’ve met are very upset with religious rights to speaking against gays/lesbians, but to say that every gay man or women is ready to tear this country apart because they can’t do what they want is silly! I have dealt with a great number of people who have told me that “Your damned to hell” “You don’t know what your doing“ ”Your a sinner and should chop of you penis and testicles” etc etc. I have respected their rights to say these things and instead of trying to force them to change, I have made the biggest change to help solve the problem. The main issue was my family. My dad is a big time Rapture/In times man and has been devoted to God for 30years now; my mother is similar in that respect. My Aunt and Uncles are all Southern Baptist members or preachers who have started prayer circles hoping either: 1) My boyfriend dies 2) I end up having to become celibate 3) That I die so that, 1 Corinthians 15 “…his fleshed may be burned, but his soul will join the Lord in heaven…” It hurts to hear them say this, but I have never tried to force anyone to not say what is on their mind. I hope you might take the time to rethink your perspective of gays. There is hope.

Helping others doesn’t go against the teaching of the Bible, that applies to firemen and police officers (story of the good Samaritan). However Christians aren’t to help them sin, that means working at a strip joint, working as a bartender, and issuing marriage certificates for same-sex couples. If I owned a restaurant and they wanted to eat there I wouldn’t deny them, everyone needs food to survive. I don’t see why though a person should be forced to “put aside” their religious beliefs simply because you think they should be secular between 9-5. If they can’t issue a marriage certificate for a same sex couple based on their beliefs then why is it an issue? Hire a second clerk that will do it or refer them somewhere else. I have yet to understand the “Christians push their views on people all the time” mentality when here we are seeing just the opposite, someone demanding that they deny their views. Christianity isn’t a switch you can turn off and on on a whim. It‘s who that person has chosen to be and it’s a 24/7 lifestyle. George Washington didn’t separate his religious views while in office so why should Christians today?

BTW how is it Islamaphobic to ask would you do such to a Muslim? It was a simple question that was asked seeing as how liberals tend to defend Muslims more than Christians. So how is what I asked considered phobic?

Is it any wonder that their heroes are such as Madona and Lady Ga Ga. This group is going to play a hand in the destruction of our military, and will help destroy our nation. They are an act against the family, are against nature, and against God.

I have debated countless times on the blaze on what these people are all about. Just go to google images and type “gay parade” and see who the are

-gays are 2% of the population.
-this 2% has 70-80% of the nations AIDS
-they have 64% of the syphilis
-lesbians are more than twice as likely to have an STD as heterosexual women
-lesbians on averay have four times the number of male sex partners as heterosexual women
-gays and lesbians have the highest suicide rates in the nation.
-many gay men suffer from gay bowel syndrome – just the act of what they do causes numerous physical problems
      - gays and lesbians have much higher alcohol and drug abuse rates
-Every nation in the history of the world that has allowed homosexuality to flourish has fell within two generations
-no nation of civilization has allowed or embraced homosexuality on the way to the top, it is always on the way to the bottom and near their destruction that homosexuality becomes allowed and common.
-allowing gays to openly serve in the military will be very costly, require more taxes for the added medical problems, will lower morale, will increase discipline problems, and will degrade lethality. Allowing gays to serve openly will have a high cost,

put DADT back in place, do not destroy the military.

if America gets right, it will fix itself

it has creeped in. very slowly at first, not very fast. If hollywood would have put an open gay person on a family television show back in the 60s, America would have revolted. Hollywood crept inch by inch, and helped jade American’s view.

I do not think it will be fixed. Once nations start the downhill plunge, they never recover.

Gay used to be a happy word. These are the obama voters, just another reason to evict him from the White House in 2012. I have nothing against homosexuals, but why do they feel the need to stand on the street and SHOUT “I’m homosexual!” Normal people don’t stand on the street and shout “I’m heterosexual.” I really don’t give a d@#m what you do in the privacy of your home, but don’t expect everyone to believe the crap you are serving up. Procreate, don’t demonstrate. OMG= obama must go…

I guess now all you have to do is protest or riot to demand you get what you want. Not what is good for the country, only what is good for you. So unions riot, gays dance to protest, Wall street is blessed with old hippies demanding whatever because they don’t even know what they want. I long for the America I grew up in. This is all so sad.

the problem with organizing an anarchy mob is anarchy is against organization so you can’t actually organize a true anarchist anything, and still call it anarchy. ( anarchy:a state of lawlessness or political disorder due to the absence of governmental authority. ) so once you have an organized rally of a political nature its no longer an anarchist movement. just my opinion.
