Gay Rights Groups Angry Over Boy Scouts Leader’s Upcoming MO Prayer Breakfast Address

There’s a drama unfolding in Kansas City, Missouri, over the selection of Robert Mazzuca, Chief Scout Executive of the Boy Scouts of America (i.e. the executive director), to speak at the annual Mayor’s Prayer Breakfast event this Thursday. Gay and lesbian groups in the region are frustrated that the leader will be giving the keynote, considering what they see as discriminatory policies on the part of the Boy Scouts.
Mazzuca, who plans to talk about faith, morality and ethics, will be speaking to approximately 800 people at the Kansas City Convention Center. During his talk, he will also celebrate the contributions of Mayor H. Row Bartle, who served as the city’s top public official from 1956 until 1963. Bartle was a major supporter of Scouting during his lifetime.
While Mazzuca is clearly qualified from a faith perspective, others — particularly those in the gay community who wish to see someone who embraces a more inclusive worldview — disagree.
“[The Boy Scouts] don’t appreciate all members of society,” explains Claire Cook, a leader at Promo, a group that works on LGBT issues. “They don’t allow all children and all families to take part in the wonderful things they allow and provide for people.”

While Cook and her group don’t plan to disrupt the event, they are urging organizers to issue statements against the Boy Scouts’ purported discriminatory practices and policies. She is hoping that such a statement is made at the event or soon after.
In the meantime, Promo has created an online petition that urges supporters “to speak out in support of gay youth being included in the Boy Scouts at all levels.” Here is some text from the petition, as it currently stands:
The Boy Scouts of America (BSA) have a long history of discrimination against both gay youth and LGBT families. Most notably, BSA adopted a discriminatory Youth Leadership policy in 2004 stating “Boy Scouts of America believes that homosexual conduct is inconsistent with the obligations in the Scout Oath and Scout Law to be morally straight and clean in thought, word, and deed.” Under this policy gay Boy Scout leaders are stripped of their positions in the organization and often denied access to the organization all together. [...]
To have elected officials such as Mayor Sly James, who champions diversity, community, leadership, and social justice hold someone such as Robert Mazzuca up as a leader is not consistent with the values of Kansas City and the greater metro area.
But Mark Zimmerman, the head of the Prayer Breakfast event, has responded by explaining that Mazzuca isn‘t coming to lecture the audience about the Boy Scouts’ teachings.
“Robert isn’t here to talk of that issue,” Zimmerman proclaimed. “He’s here to talk of things that unite us.”

Too, as with every other leftist cause, they refuse to allow anyone to go his own way in the pursuit of peace and serenity, holding on to his own beliefs and principles.
A person is required to accept their sick agenda or be the object of hatred and animosity by them.
If they had a slogan, it would be something like, “Support love and tolerance or we’ll kill you.”
Like the slogan, everything about them…including their inability to reason and logic in coherent terms….reeks of hatred.

No matter how one views it, homosexuality is part of what is destroying our society. GLBT groups push their agenda on the straight majority and demand things left and right. Well, we GOD-fearing Christians don’t have to put up with their nonsense.

GLBT folks have the right to get out of our Christian nation any time they want to. They are a minority.
I suggest that you GLBT folks prepare for the Second Coming of Christ by denouncing your hideous practices, ask for forgiveness, go through a true repentence process, find someone of the opposite sex to marry and have a real family.
Quit complaining about the Boy Scouts or any other group that sees you all (GLBT) for what you are -perverts, pedophiles, carriers of STD’s, gross sinners and the very last persons we want in any decent youth or adult program.
By the way, my wife‘s cousin is a lesbian so don’t tell me I don‘t know what I’m talking about. Her life sucks and our whole family can see it.

You could hold den meetings at bath houses. I‘m sure you’d get plenty of families who’d want to expose their boys to your philosophy. Hey, you could even do it with a Roman theme. At the end of the empire, wasn’t it common for homosexual men to mix with boys in Roman bath houses?

South Park did a really great episode illustrating how ludicrous it is to assume the gay guy will molest your children, never suspecting the straight guy. The fathers all freaked out and got rid of the obviously gay scout leader in favor of a big, tough “straight” guy who immediately took naked pictures of the boys. I realize I’m using a cartoon here, but the point is valid.
By the numbers and by percentage, far more men who consider themselves straight molest children than men who consider themselves gay. To listen to you folks, you would think only boys are molested by men. Never heard of little girls being molested?
That South Park episode ended up with the gay activists winning a court battle to force the scouts to let Big Gay Al be a leader. Al then gave a speech thanking those who supported him but telling them he never wanted to force the scouts to accept him. They have the right to their beliefs and rules in the same way he does. Say what you want about South Park, they often hit it out of the park.
BSA should be able to have whatever rules they like, and the GAY! activists should shut up and start their own or advocate for groups that include all.
And really people, spewing hate and insults should be beneath you.

As an Eagle Scout myself, I was raised in a family that valued honor and integrity, which it was only natural to be involved in an organization FOUNDED and strongly based on these principals. Today apparently it is wrong to “brainwash” kids in the 100 year old tradition of encouraging success.
I too would say that dissenting views should just start their own movement, but the Girl Scouts already beat them to the punch. Heck, I’m sure they would be glad to take any of the homosexual deviants into their fold since they seem to have no problem with transgenders, lesbians, and the morally confused – the only reason the Girl Scouts are still “legitimate” is because they have cookies.

Posted on March 6, 2012 at 8:56amI think clubs should be able to make their own rules about membership. If others are unhappy they can form their own club and exclude whomever they wish. I personally feel that Boy Scouts is a thing of the past…..for a previous generation and not for today. There are just too many risks involved with joining. I’d prefer to camp as a family and teach as a family and do not trust that the people joining these groups should have that much access to my child, period. This is a time of distrust. I also feel the family time is better and the time spent bonding with one own’s family is better than with a bunch of strangers who group together under the Boy Scouts. Trust of that group for me is an issue. It is iron that parents of a gay boy would want their son included when I don’t feel I would want my son included just shows that everyone is coming from a different place now. The vetting process for the boy scouts is not that good.

Posted on March 6, 2012 at 9:40amOddly, the anti-scout groups find much to celebrate in the scouting organization, the skills the boys learn are tools that will serve them the rest of their life.
To take but one example, the point of a pinewood derby is not to race wooden cars, it is to get the cub scout (who is in elementary school) to take on a project, design a car, construct it themselves, compete against their peers (learning about winning and losing), learn a bit about physics, AND have an event that brings the family together for an afternoon with other families.
Scouting builds self-confidence and self-reliance, and teaches leadrship skills and encourages involvement in the community…

Report Post »Although I would agree that many troops are not as adventurous as others. I can tell you personally that the troop I am part of does not go to very many of the organized events (as they are kind of lame mostly). As an army infantry veteran myself, and the other Scoutmaster was in scouts for 12 years where they went camping, backpacking, mountainclimbing etc, once a month, I can tell you that we do not just take the boys out and teach them nothing. Just 2 weeks ago we took the boys on a 5 mile land navigation hike. It was a high of 35 degrees, with pretty stiff winds (most people would stay at home). When we got to the site we set the map on the table, told each boy to find a point of interest about 1/2 mile from the last one, draw a line, shoot an azimuth, and then each boy led us to their point. Along the way we practiced fire building (no matches or lighters), emergency shelter building, and emergency first aid. Each one of the boys, who had never actually land navigated before, brought us to within 100 yards from the spot they were supposed to, they all built fires even with the very high winds which made it difficult, they built 2 shelters as the first one was not up to snuff, and they handled a case of “hypothermia” quite well. They learned and performed many skills, worked as a team, learned leadership skills, and had a great time. I guess scouting is irrelevant in our popular culture however, American society will be bettered by these young men

Let the folks who want a gay BSA form their own. Heck, they can REQUIRE that their members (perhaps I should have chosen another word) be as gay as possible. They could refuse to allow bisexual teens to join!

Democrats nationwide will want to enroll their kids in Gay Scouts. They can earn merit badges in decorating, hair styling, fashion consulting, floral arrangement etc. It’ll be great.
