‘Gay Robot’ Hounds Bachmann in Iowa

By now the GOP presidential candidates have seen it all: hecklers, protesters, haters of all shapes and sizes. Well, mostly all.
On Thursday afternoon in Iowa City, Michele Bachmann encountered a man dressed in a robot suit, who shouted her down with the aid of a built-in megaphone. He called himself, “roboprof,” and was booed and quickly asked to leave Hamburg Inn No. 2, where Bachmann made the campaign stop.
“I am a gay robot. I oppose Bachmann’s position on gays, whether they are human or robot,” said the man, who declined to give his name, although he admitted to being the same robot who heckled Bill Clinton at the University of Iowa in 2007.
IOWA CITY, Iowa (AP) — The Hamburg Inn in Iowa City has long been a popular stop for presidential candidates, but it probably won’t be high on Rep. Michele Bachmann’s list anymore.
About two dozen activists with Occupy Iowa City packed the diner before Bachmann arrived there Thursday, then loudly chanted in unison as she tried to mingle with supporters. Their chant blasted the Minnesota congresswoman’s position on gay rights, health care and taxes and ended with: “You’re not wanted here. So go, just go.”
The restaurant blared Christmas songs over the loudspeaker to drown out the protesters. Police arrived as tensions rose, but no one was arrested.
Bachmann seemed undeterred. Before leaving, she thanked the owner, praised the food and said it was great to be in Iowa City.

I would like a moment to point out that idiocy is not limited to homosexuals, as idiocy is blind to age, gender, sexual preference, religion, and financial status. I am a happily married woman (yes, to a man) and I do support gay rights. I know several intelligent homosexuals, and it saddens me that one idiots public stunt has made it seem as though all homosexuals are idiots. Then again, it’s pretty small-minded to stereotype a group off a FEW peoples actions. Saying all “Gays” are idiots because of this one mans actions is similar to saying all African-Americans are gang members, or all Mexicans are lazy.
As for liberals liking to make fools of themselves, I’ve seen some pretty idiotic Republicans too. Another generalization. I guess I’m an independent since there are some liberal statements I agree with, while I also agree with some republican statements.
And last, before I move on to responses that are directed toward individuals. For those of you who use your religion as a basis of argument, it would be best if you came up with arguments that are not based in a book that some people believe to be fictional. Remember that this nation has people of many religions. Using religious references may gain approval of others of your faith, but will not sway those of other faiths to agree with your opinion.

Actually, the rates of homosexuality is around 10%, It is estimated that another 10% is bisexual. The rates are still low, but higher than you’ve given credit to. I think things will be less in your face once homosexuals have the rights to marry their partners. It’s so publicized now because they are fighting for the same rights as heterosexuals have. Homosexuality isn’t just about sex either, they fall in love with their partners, they want to be allowed to be by their partners side in the hospital, to have family health insurance, and all the other things many heterosexuals take for granted.

Allow me to turn the tables. How many people try to grab the spotlight to speak against homosexuals? to influence people into believing it’s wrong? How can you claim they can “sin as they please” when there are several faiths that don’t believe the same things are sins? How is love a sin? Speaking of Christian ethics and sins: isn’t it sinful to not love thy neighbor as thyself? what if that neighbor is gay? How can Christians judge homosexuals when there are so many references in the bible against judgement? Yes, homosexuals are protected against hate crimes, but if someone assaulted you for your beliefs they’d also be facing a hate crime related sentence.

I don’t have a problem with civil unions, but marriage is a covenant recognized by God, and civil unions are a covenant recognized by the State. Let the church decide if they want to recognize civil unions as marriage, the state ought to recognize civil unions, however.

My husband and I had a non-religious marriage due to coming from two very separate faiths. If the government were to recognize all civil unions while keeping all marriages as a religious thing, they’d have to move all the rights currently associated with marriage into the civil union zone, allowing all (heterosexual and homosexual) people that option. Whereas MARRIAGE should carry no rights granted by the government, and should only grant “rights” associated with the church.
Being that the government relies too heavily on marriage to determine who has what rights (such as insurance, immigration, and more) I don‘t think they’d want to make such a drastic change anytime soon, as it would be easier to simply allow gay marriage (which due to conflicts is hard enough). Also, this would cause a nation-wide uproar as “married couples” who were married through the courthouse instead of the church became agitated that they were no longer “married,“ but ”civil-union partners.”

Aside from inflating percentages akin to OWS’ 99%, you violate your own edict by quoting scripture (though ignorant of the meaning). What “religion” do you derive your authority to judge the actions of others or the precepts of the Bible? What makes you right & others or the Bible wrong?
Now that you’ve opened the door, the book you’re so concerned w/ scarcely speaks of “love” as a feeling, or an emotion, & far less as a sexual act (& then generally in the negative or abusive). The vast majority of New Testament references to “love” is the word agapao – which is to esteem, to direct one’s will, toward the benefit of others above self; an act of service. It is this “love” that the Bible claims sent Christ to the cross.
You don’t have to believe the Bible to be the Word of God – but that doesn’t change its truth one bit. Warning sinful man of God’s pending judgment (& way of salvation) by telling him the truth, is love (John 3, Romans 1). Like it or not.

He had been a leader of the anti-Walker mob in Madison, and later stalked Republican elected representatives. He followed two to a bar near the state Capitol, and poured beer on one of the Republicans. His punishment. He had to pay for the dry cleaning! As long as liberal judges permit stalkers, disrupters, mobsters to deny free speech to the Republicans, they simply encourage the end of democracy in the US. The liberals, and the ACLU, do not believe in free speech. They believe in mob rule.

I have a skeptical mind and in the past I sometimes wondered if it was fair to stereotype these people. So far everyone I have had to deal with matches every single stereo type ever attributed to the species. They believe they are smarter, and more enlightened. They want freedom but us lesser forms of life are not smart enough to handle it.
