Gay-Themed Military Magazine to Appear Free-of-Charge on Select Army & Air Force Bases

It hasn’t been long since the government began discussing the end of its contentious “don’t ask, don’t tell” (DADT) policy. With its official repeal only a month away, a new, gay-themed military magazine is set to hit base exchange stores (shops for military personnel).
The magazine, called OutServe, is named after the gay rights group that publishes it. And on the same day that the contentious DADT is officially scrubbed from the books — September 20 — the periodical will become available, free of charge, at select Army and Air Force bases.
On the group’s web site, OutServe claims that it is a relatively large association of LGBT military personnel. The organization claims to have 3,300 members in 42 chapters across the globe, providing the following description of its core purpose:
OutServe works to support a professional network of LGBT military personnel and create an environment of respect in the military with regard to sexual orientation and gender identity.
Listen to the magazine’s editor discuss the project on The Stephanie Miller Show:
While OutServe is just making its way onto select bases, it has already published two editions. In the new September 2011 issue, the magazine will feature a photo spread of nearly 100 people who are either members of OutServe or who are currently active duty. The significance behind their inclusion in this photo spread is that it will be the first time they have made their sexuality known among military ranks.
In addition to images, stories and the like, the magazine will feature a regular advice column called “Ask Sarge.” Readers will be able to ask a mental health technician and addiction expert questions and receive responses related to their LGBT inquiries. Below, read an introduction by the individual who is behind penning this column:
I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself. I have served in the United States Air Force as a Mental Health Technician for the past four years, and I have worked as a substance abuse counselor for the better part of the last two years. Recently, I was forward-deployed to Afghanistan where I operated a Combat Stress Clinic. Experience has shown me that most of the people who come into a Mental Health or Combat Stress Clinic do not suffer from a mental disorder, but simply need to be reminded about the basic fundamentals of life, like problems sleeping, communication issues, and adjusting to the military lifestyle. There are many other unique problems out there, and I would like the opportunity to help solve some of them.
In a release published on OutServe’s web site, JD Smith, a co-director at the organization (he goes by a pseudonym until DADT is officially overturned), said:
“This marks an incredible time in the history of our military. Gay, lesbian, and bisexual servicemembers once had to conceal their true identities. By featuring their pictures and their stories, we are signaling that time has passed. It is time for these military members to be honored for their extraordinary commitment and sacrifice in defense of our country.”
While some individuals behind both the organization and the magazine have been somewhat secretive about who they are, once DADT is overturned, these individuals will no longer feel the need to “hide.” The Washington Post‘s Ed O’Keefe explains:
Once the nearly two-decade-old ban ends, gay men and women serving in military uniform will be able to reveal their sexual identity without fear of dismissal or official rebuke, openly gay men and women will be able to enlist in the military, and gay couples may be allowed to wed at military chapels or live together on military bases in states that recognize same-sex marriages.
This magazine will surely serve as a comfort to individuals who have anxiously awaited an end to DADT. But opponents are likely to feel that it’s presence on bases so soon after the official overturning of the military policy is a move that simply adds insult to injury. Either way, the magazine is set to make its way onto select bases next month.

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 11:13amSick and tired of the Gay Agenda and the Kiss up to their sick and silly lifestyle that borderlines pedophilia and seeks to exploit our children. Anyone who supports their agenda is entwined with Informal fallacies and Non-sequiturs. They are smarter than us and our Liberal Media is totally in cahoots with them and Mr. Obama. I have friends who are gay and they hate how they are being used by their own kind. Since I was once in the marketing and advertising world I believe that their interlude with the military will surely see an uptick in Military accidents. Hide and watch.

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 1:53pmJust the tip of the iceberg. In about 20 days, DADT is completely over. The lesbians will be the most vocal up front, demanding new rights and priveleges. Commanders will be afraid to be labeled homophobe, and will bow down to the evil sodomites and sick lesbian crowd.
No one will want to be the first officer or leader that MSNBC/Huffingtonpost/CNN….. goes after. Soldiers who are not even gay, will claim to be gay when they get in trouble for illeagle activity. They already know that kicking out a professing gay soldier will be something no commander wants to do.
It is kind of like being a black female in the military. While there are loads and loads of hard working top notch black female soldiers, there is a fear of getting hit with racism and sexism charges if you have to punish or relieve a black female soldier. This has led to a sort of mafia of sorts where some black female soldiers who do not meet the standard, get to skate by, and burden the system. Some refer to it as the uniformed welfare program.
Nothing good will come of allowing these degenerates to serve. I hope we can elect a president who has the backbone to reverse this evil action.

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 2:02pmThere are no “gay rights”. YOUR rights are because you are a person/citizen.
Why do you have to tell me what you do in your bedroom? Live your life and stfu. Seriously, I actually do have friends that are gay and I don’t care, it’s just not for me. The fed should not be in our biz and you should refrain from telling me your biz. No tax breaks for married people w/ kids(me), home owners, etc. Leave that up to the states and communities.
As soon as the gov makes it easier for singles, I’ll get “divorced”.(anyway to scr3w this tyranny I will) It‘s a piece of freakin’ paper. For me, my belief defines if I am married. If you need some gov to give you credibility you have bigger problems. Stop fighting for “gay rights”. If you weren’t a hypocrite you would fight for the REMOVAL of tax breaks to specific groups. But instead you ask for your group to get breaks also. What about other groups? Which ones are you pushing for? My solution is much better. No PREFERENCES rather than “group rights”. Gov does not make rights. I’m almost interested to see your reply, but as I said I just don’t care about the whole gay/straight thing. I just want gov off my back which would keep them out of your bedroom.

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 4:12pmThe gay agenda? The only agenda I see here is that of people who think our nation is a theocracy, wanting to impose their lives on others (very un-American by the way). As I (and the constitution) would see nothing wrong with a (place choice of religion here) magazine distributed amognst our service men & women, there shouldn’t be such a hateful echange on this issue. The fact that it’s a “gay rights group” (possibly socialists) raises concern on my part. Most of these groups are socialists, and use the same old tactics of speaking for a community that it sees as “oppressesd”.

Well, some of us see it a bit different. We do not walk around and define ourselves by our sexuality, nor do we want to know about yours.
If folks who have sex with chickens want to hand out pamphlets on military posts, should we let them? how about those that prefer children? We find sexual perversions (homosexuality, beastyality, pedephiles….) to be against nature, and against morality.
Homosexuality destroys nations. You may have your own opinion, but you do not get your own facts and truth. Greece, Rome, Persia, Babylon….. Other places tried it also, and excepted it. Those that have, all fell within two generations. It is an act against the family. When the family falls apart, so does the nation.
Do your own research. Check statistics on the Center for Disease Control website. You will see that homosexuals have much higher rates of suicide, higher drug use, alcohol abuse, STDs can not even be compared with heterosexuals, as they tote 70 percent and higher of AIDS, and other STDs. The rate in which they molest children is much higher.
The founding fathers were not for gay rights. General George Washington kicked a lieutenant out of the continental Army for being homosexual. Study and enlighten yourself

If it is a private organization than I have a significant question, will ALL other privately owned magazines/newspapers/journals, etc. be allowed on bases? I know that there are many non-traditional newspapers that are not allowed in exchange posts (military stores). The reason given is that they are too sectarian or are potentially provocative. By allowing this rag on bases the military is setting a precedent they may not like.

Posted on September 1, 2011 at 10:47amYes, unfortuantely I agree with all those that say this will be destructive. Everything about liberalism is destructive and grows like this because satan is behind it helping to promote his agenda. All this stuff coming is predictable. More will choose not to enlist & may force the “draft” which I don’t think will be very popular with the libs very much….but they haven’t thought or care about that. They’re very short sighted and too self absorbed, irrational. Libs don‘t think through things logically and I don’t think they are even capable of that – they’re “sick” people emotionally, spiritually, psychologically, mentally. If I was a patriotic gay who had the interests of the country as priority, I wouldn’t enlist knowing of the controversy & may only cause problems. I’d get some other job that helps the country. But that’s called “unselfishness”/“sacrificial” and they are not of that caliber. It’s very pathetic & destructive to both theirselves and the country and only God/Jesus is the answer but too many do not believe God can help them – and/are atheists, aganostics…… & I’m afraid most “Christians” mishandle them & they are to blame also. Along with getting involved with voting, getting involved politically – repentance, prayer, revival is the answer.

One thing Dick Cheney got right is that if you cut the military—either by slashing funding or by driving recruits and experienced leaders out in aid of allowing openly-gay people in—it will take years to rebuild when you need it. I was such an idealist that I even enlisted out of college rather than going in as an officer. Figured this bottom-up experience would make me a better leader. The military is the bureaucracy to end all bureaucracies. Conservatives oftean remark that the military is the only thing the government does right. Haha, wrong. Anybody who says this has never been in the military post 9/11. It might actually be the worst-run of it all. It is truly indescribable how much money and manhours are completely wasted. Within the military there are smaller organizations and units that have historically had more autonomy, like special ops. Groups like these tend to be less susceptical to politics and run much more efficiently. That is changing though, and the gay agenda is part of that. My fellow conservatives need to wake up to the fact that the military needs to be gutted and revamped just like the rest of the government.

FINALLY – Someone says out loud – the TRUTH. The quality of our troops decreased – big time. Single parents are “encouraged” to have more kids because they don’t have to work the difficult shifts or take the difficult temporary assignments – stick it to the single soldier or those without custody of their children) and anyone who isn’t a protected “group” is terrified of offending someone else because even the accusation could end your career. Add homosexuals to this protected group and the tipping point it here.
Compare a VOLUNTEER USA Army/AF/Marines (as opposed to MANDATORY service of all other nations) to the VOLUNTEER Catholic Priesthood.
Catholic priests cannot marry or have sexual relations so NOT too many men want to join and so the Church looked away as homosexuals and perverts filled their “volunteer” ranks-they needed any body. DITTO soon for the USA army/AF/marines. As homosexuals, perverts and weirdos join up in vast numbers, normal men/women will REFUSE to volunteer and the military will “look the other way” as long as they have a body to fill a slot. The quality of our military men/women is already dumbed down and poor – pile it on.
