Gaza Militants Agree to Cease-Fire, Hamas Official Says

RAMALLAH, West Bank (AP) — Militant groups in Gaza have agreed to a cease-fire aimed at ending a three-day round of violence with Israel, a senior Hamas official said Sunday, after a cross-border Palestinian attack on Israel threatened relations between the two countries and set off a round of Palestinian rocket barrages and Israeli airstrikes.
The official said Egypt helped broker the cease-fire, which was to go into effect Sunday evening. Egypt, which has been in contact with Israel, told the groups that Israel would halt its airstrikes only if the Palestinian groups stopped shooting first, he said.
Hamas security personnel would enforce the agreement, the official said.
He spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to make the cease-fire public.
The current round of hostilities was triggered Thursday by militants who launched an attack from Egyptian territory, ambushing Israeli cars and buses along the border and killing eight people. Israel says an armed Palestinian faction from Gaza was responsible.
Israel responded hours later with an airstrike that killed members of the faction, and Palestinian militants began bombarding southern Israel with more than 100 rockets and mortars, killing one Israeli man on Saturday. wounding dozens and sending thousands of Israelis running to bomb shelters.
The Israeli airstrikes have killed 15 people in Gaza, most of them militants. A spokesman for Israel’s military said Sunday that Israel “will not hesitate” to widen its military operation if necessary.

I’m sure Israel is fully aware of the liars they are dealing with. I believe they started this attacking of Israel becasue of Glenn Beck’s visit. They don’t llike it too much when a guy like Glenn shows support for their arch enemy.

Posted on August 21, 2011 at 6:33pmIt’s called a hudna. Used to regroup and rearm. There is no ‘ceasefire’ with someone whose sole ambition is to annihilate you. It’s just a brief respite to catch their collective breath and consider the next plan of attack without being attacked themselves. It’s hard to plan offensive maneuvers when one is on the defense.
I’m sure the Israelis are aware of this and have contingency plans to counter an offensive from Egypt. Remember, Egypt is less of a friend now than when Mubarak was in control.

They are also no doubt unhappy to see an American like Beck being supportive of Israel. I am not blaming Beck for causing this. It just happens to be the way the Arabs look at things and react.

I say Israel should finish the job completely by wiping their hatred from the face of the earth. Israel should have no mercy on them! They are the ones causing their pain. You don’t see any of the Arab countries saying to Hamas “enough is enough” making them stop their hostile misdemeanors.
Israel has done more than what is right and has taken measures to protect the people there.

OK…..it’s time for us to kill us some more Israelis; we’ll do as we “always” do. We’ll launch some rockets and make a couple of incursions and kill as many of the Zionists as we can. Israel will reluctantly respond with superior and overwhelming equipment and forces and just before they (Israel) kill any or an equal number of us, we’ll declare and make nationally known a CEASE FIRE!!! By sticking to this tactic, we‘ll eventually be able to eradicate enough Israelis to the point where they’ll give us more of THEIR land hoping for a couple years of peace. By repeating this tactic over and over and over enough times we’ll eventually have ALL of the “promised land” and Zion will no longer exist. It’s worked for us so far…..why not keep doing what works…..WHO LET THAT FLY IN HERE?????GET IT…..DON’T LET IT GET OUT THE FLAP…..OOPS…..IT GOT AWAY. I sure hope that fly wasn’t a spy fly.
