GBTV: Beck Explains Vision for ‘Mercury One’ and Major ‘Restoring Love’ Event

On Thursday morning, Glenn Beck announced his plans for Restoring Love.

Yes, there will be a big event at Cowboys Stadium on 7-28.

But to fully understand what Beck is envisioning, you really need to watch him explain the principles and motivations behind the plans.

That was the focus of his Thursday evening GBTV program.

Let’s start with Part One:

 

 

 

For Beck, the plans for Restoring Love are more than just plans for a summer event.  It will mark a new direction for his company.  That will be evident on GBTV and is embodied in the creation of his recently-announced Mercury One organization:

 

 

Some of you may be thinking that Beck must be a little nuts to be book the entire Cowboys Stadium.  Beck would tend to agree.  But he is clear why he feels this is the clear course to take:

 

 

There are an enormous number of ideas at play in these plans.  But undergirding all of it…the twin themes of “malice toward none” and “charity for all.”

    How can this man even mentioned the words “restore love” when all he does is divide. Of course he devides to make money, but none the less. To restore love you have to accept that Liberals and Conservatives were both created by God. If you truly believe one is defective you are ad odds with the creator. Restore love? Start with understanding we all need to work together. We need to recognize our differences and compromise. Just as we do in our every day lives.

      Do you listen to his program… ever? All he’s spoken about for the past 3 years is that we need to be on red-alert where the usurpation of our freedoms is concerned. How do you compromise between keeping and taking away individual liberties?

      Glenn respects others’ rights to live and speak as they want, but he doesn‘t respect the right of one person to stomp on or take away another’s rights. And taking another’s property is not a “right”; it’s theft.

      Any compromise requires shared values. In this country, that value used to be individual rights and liberty. All Glenn has done is flashed a warning sign that some people in positions of power (on both sides of the aisle) are hell-bent on taking those away.

      Okay. The PEOPLE were created by God, but the choices that liberals make are definately NOT from God. Typical calvinistic mush mind. Why would God create a whole host of people who believe in murdering the unborn? Why would God create homosexuals when He said that those who do such things will burn in hell? No. God created the people, but they went off the rails BY THEIR OWN CHOICES. The choices the make places them in the catagory of ‘defective’ as you put it. They exchange the truth of God for a lie.

    I’m all in. Liberal have corrupted charity. Charity comes from the heart not from government. However, the government has become the predominate force in “charitable giving”, almost every charity is subsidized by government. I’ve tried and tried to get involved with “charity” only to find out most “volunteers” are “paid”, not much really goes to the people it is intended for and the people are so subsidized by the government that simple things in life, like a helping hand, not a hand out, has become out of fashion. I ring the bell for a charity and I am asked all the time, “are you paid”? No, I am not and yes, I ring it a lot and I don’t care how cold it is.

    I can’t wait to finally try a different approach. If I sound pessimistic, I don’t mean to, it is just I’ve run into a lot of nay saying and too much “I get more from welfare”.

    i am troubled by the divide that is evident in this country…a divide that grows wider daily. Yes, Glenn is right…it is only thru our change of heart that makes it right. Our broken families, our broken education system, our broken children and our broken society, will only be made right when each heart is made right. That is up to each of us, but i find it hard to imagine people care enough for that. Meanwhile there has been provided for us all a way to find joy and peace in our own hearts and when that happens we will change and it will touch lives around us.

      No one can actually listen to Beck and disagree with him…..

      I’m most amazed that the only response to such disagreement with Beck is the response that they must be “trolls” or “Liberals”, the same style of response that draws outrage from Conservatives when they are called “Fascists” from the Left.

      Wake up, Beck can be wrong and has been wrong on many things, just as he’s been right on many things as well.

    Trying to make people lose heart, trying to kill what Glenn is doing before he can get it started.

    They are going to come at Glenn now in every direction.

    They can’t afford to lose the ground that they have gained.

    Glenn is going to need protection, and our support.

    If you want America back, where Common Sense, Honor, and Responsibility mean something again. We are going to have to fight for it. They own Washington already, time to start working outside of the box.

    Glenn i used to hang on every word you said until i saw who you endorsed for president, you love the founders and the constitution?! Yea right man! Its clear you do not. I feel bad for others who listen to you, i did for a few years, i bought all your books and finally I saw who you really were. Stop sucking the money and hope out of these people. Wake up guys any man who claims he supports america, our freedoms, and what the founders preached, would never ever support santorum bachmann or any other candidate who loves the patriot act and reduced civil liberties. Glenn please go home man, I am sad I wasted money going to 8/28, please man just stop, i pray for the rest of you who listen to him as I did to step back and really examine this man….

      @Libertarian: What? I must have missed it!! Who is Glenn “endorsing”. Last I heard him say was that he didn’t “endorse” ANYONE. I have seen him with several candidates as his guests and listened to their discussions, but I‘m pretty sure he isn’t “endorsing” anyone. Please refer me to your source. Thanks and Merry Christmas.

    Alright Beck, I’ve been a long time listener, long time supporter, and believer in what you do
    . But you’ve lost me on this one. I understand service, I get it. But Jimmy Carter. Can attest that service projects don’t change peoples political associations. Glenn, we need you doing what you’ve Bern doing,not what Jimmy has been doing. People that show up to service projects are almost all already charitable loving people. Did christ spend his time among those with the same beliefs as him? No, he was out among the gentiles. You need to be more public, not just rallying the troops you already have. We are not large enough in numbers. Don’t get me wrong, by all means service of others is important, but we need principled people in Washington, not just on the streets.

    How can a man with soooooo much hate, vitriol, polarization, and division restore love? Glenn only loves those that agree with him politically. If you are not a “pure” conservative, Glenn will smear you as a Communist traitor like Joseph McCarthy would in the “Red Scare” days. That isn’t love, it’s division and exclusion.

    Glenn’s bombastic rhetoric and divisive televangelist act has been on display from day one:

    “President is a racist that hates white people”

    “Reform Jews are like radicalized Islam”

    To fake Nancy Pelosi… “I put poison in your wine glass”

    “Liberals are taking you to be slaughtered”

    “I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore”

    etc…

    This man will not restore love. Just like he didn‘t restore Israel’s courage. Just like he didn’t restore honor. Glenn is a showman and a divisive, hateful, huckster televangalist, and nothing more.

      I think you need to put things in chronological order and add content… oh, and fix the misquotes.

      “President is a racist that hates white people” He actually said President Obama has a “deepseated hatred for white people… or white culture… I don’t know what it is” After doing actual research (which must start with a theory/hypothesis and gather facts) he concluded that he was wrong, that it was an anti-colonialist set of ideas based on his father and grandfather’s experiences.

      “Reform Jews are like radicalized Islam” This he back-tracked and clarified his remarks.

      To fake Nancy Pelosi… “I put poison in your wine glass” Nothing wrong with making a joke about poisining a fake anything.

      “Liberals are taking you to be slaughtered” Which is true. Just watch the actions… though he did clarify that it was progressives.

      “I’m thinking about killing Michael Moore” Another joke on a comedy show.

      All of these happened before his crisis of faith, which was before Restoring Honor… leading us to:

      “he didn‘t restore Israel’s courage” It was never about Israel’s courage. It was to restore America and the world’s courage, the way Israel has it.

      “he didn’t restore honor” Speaking for yourself, I suppose. Obviously it didn’t stick to those with no honor to restore (see President lying in Kansas).

      Benjamin Abruzzo, you can believe that swill, but see where it gets you a year from now. Just watch what happens. The masses will finally see what a few of us are already seeing. beck is nuts. BTW, none of our fellow Americans, regardless of party, are going to drag us out of our homes and into the street and kill us.       Thank you for your lazer clarity in answer to Pramaticia. Beck is absolutely working to bring back all that is good in our wonderful Nation. I don‘t always agree with everything Beck says and does and Glenn doesn’t ask people to do that. Over and over, Beck asks people to do the research, ask questions and don’t just take his word; he asks us to challenge him.
      I am sure the “Restoring Love” Event, Glenn is planning will be awesome. Our country needs this healing now; we are so splintered into all kinds of factions.
      Washington and (BIG) government is not the answer. There are good people that work in government but with the amount of corruption at all levels, local, state and especially federal; even those (serving in government) with the best of intentions are up against a monutmental mess. Glenn Beck is calling us to action and to service. Not everyone feels comfortable with that because there is uncertainty as to where all this will lead.
      Some commenters have stated that Beck may be a “charleton” and that he is “only out for himeself.” So far, I see Glenn accomplishing only good results with all that he is doing; and so “by their fruits you will know them.” Glenn asks each of us to look to our own lives to improve are own minds and hearts. This is no easy task because it is always easier to find fault in others and to look for the scapegoat. When we come from the heart and from a place of love; it is impossible to stay in a place

    I was in the Ministry for a long time. I went down the road of faith, hope and charity. With a deep conviction to love all and GIVE of myself I found myself drained completely. You give and people take and take and take and take some more. People our ministry helped pretended to be poor to get more nd more. It was overwhel,ing. They took food out of the mouths of the truly needy. If you said anything about their lifestyle, you were spit on and ridiculed. If you did not help because you saw they were not REALLY needy, your name was mud. The takers overwhelmed our ministry to the point it was useless. Helping the “poor” was not really helping the “poor” it was reinforcing those who had cars, televisions, cell phones.used the extra money they had now that you fed them to buy drugs and alcohol.
    I have been down this road. I cannot pull myself to wake my charitable side up except when I find a truly needy person/ Believe me, we have very FEW truly needy people in this nation. I DO NOT believe that there truly hungry people even in the innner cities. No, they are iresponsible people who want others to give them food and RUBES that feel good by helping them and start foundations by throwing money at the hunger that is not really there. The problem is not hunger, it is irresponsiblity and outright refusal of those TAKERS to change. Give, and the people today will not even thank you. When was the last time a taxpayer had a thank you from a government welfare recipient?

      It was just as bad at or food pantry. If you did not give to those who really did not need, you were labeled a bad guy. If you saved food for the people who really struggled, you were called names. I was even spit on because I confronted a man about his relentless taking when he could have easily helped himself. (really, happened more than once)
      I hope and pray that Glenn finds a way aroud the people who will swamp his charitable side. I hope he can enforce a way to get food to the truly hungry (very few) and the people who really need to be clothed instead of people who just want chothes so they dont have to spend their extra money on buying schoolclothes for their children. They can use that extra money for drugs or alcohol.
      We tried making a work for food program. Really simple, just work a little aound the ministry helping out. Went over like a lead balloon. No one would work, but they wanted food. And dont even get me started on what they said about the food if it was not to theoir liking! Try giving some “hungry person” a can of peas…hahaha
      Sorry Glenn…love you man, but you are on your own in this event. I am tapped out from feeding the “poor” in this country. I am through giving unless I see a REAL need. I see that very few times. What I do see are people who are capable, but would rather have something given to them instead. No thanks….Too any teat suckers.

    The fact is that probably 1/2 of Americans have lost the values, basic decency, morals, charity and self-responsibility that are necessary to maintain the freedom we love with a small government. We don’t legislate these, yet without them, we are seeing the results already. Shared values, common language, borders, and cultural traditions have been lost to progressivism. As a result, our children have not been taught those things that make our country work WITH SMALL GOVERNMENT. It starts with the individual and teaching others by example. Reaching out. It may be too late to stop the fall. I know what Glenn is trying to do and I admire him for at least standing up and trying. I went to 8/28 and it was expensive and hard on me. But it was worth it. Connections were made and important political change occurred and it started with individuals like me deciding to go.

    Bonnie, my wife and I went to the Restoring Honor event in D.C. It was tremendously uplifting and worth every penny. It was quite a sacrifice for us, but I can promise you if you come to this event with love in your heart and a willingness to serve you will not regret it. Your heart will change and you will come closer to Christ. Glenn is an honest broker of truth. I trust him, but, more importantly, I trust the Spirit of God. I encourage you to ask God if He would have you attend Restoring Love.
