Gen. Petraeus Spokesman Shoots Down Romney VP Rumors

CIA Director David Petraeus won‘t be Mitt Romney’s vice presidential pick.

A spokesman for the spy chief and former Iraq and Afghanistan combat commander told reporters Tuesday that Petraeus has no plans to run for any elected office, despite a report that Romney wants him to be his running mate.

“Director Petraeus feels very privileged to be able to continue to serve our country in his current position and, as he has stated clearly numerous times before, he will not seek elected office,” CIA spokesman Preston Golson said, according to Politico.

The denial comes after the Drudge Report said President Barack Obama “whispered to a top fundraiser” earlier this week that he believes the presumptive Republican presidential nominee wants Petraeus on the ticket.

According to Drudge, Romney is “believed to have secretly met” with Petraeus in New Hampshire. Government officials said that was false, according to Reuters. White House press secretary Jay Carney even took a shot at Drudge, telling a reporter who asked about the Petraeus possibility to “be mindful of your sources.”

This is the second time there has been a flurry of vice presidential speculation. Last month, a similar exclusive speculated Romney was seriously considering former Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice. She has since said she would not take the job.

Remember General Betray-us? Wasn’t that long ago … maybe two headlines … bottom line is the military takes an oath to the Constitution, not the president … to the Constitution, to defend it from all enemies, foreign and domestic … they need to fulfill their pledge and they haven’t … including Betray-us.

It is really close to the time when OUR military needs to act on their oath! These people are criminals, traitors, murderers and usurpers of our constitution and need to be expelled … Military … perform your duty or we will … Betray-us can not lead that operation as he is corrupted.

General Petraeus might be needed to get the Obama people out of the White House as they might follow the example of their fellow anti-capitalists, the OWS Crowd – the Occupiers !

My gut feeling on this is that Obama just wanted to intimidate Petraeus by informing him that he is aware of the “secret” meeting. Romney probably met with him to discuss foreign policy as part of his platform.

I agree. I couldn’t figure out why Obama would drop this. Your idea I can believe.

    Thank goodness!!
Romney’s campaign is bad enough as it is, without making things worse.
Not that I have anything against Petraeus in general. Just as VP.

Do not be mistaken – Jesus has taken over control of the wheel, and there isn’t anything anyone can do about it. Just be still, and ride it out.

You can look around to see the light that enlightens all men, if you want to see. Those who have decided to stop being a “Light” sponge will be affected the most. I mean, that’s even why Joan Rivers handcuffed herself.

God isn’t going anywhere kiddies, and if you knock me down I’ll pop back up like a Weeble-wobble. But when I see most children punch a weeble-wobble – it bounces back up and knocks them down – and the weeble-wobble still stands.

I would certainly like to see Allen West for VP but if the platform is jobs and the economy then Paul Ryan is the man.

West would get at least 15%+ of the black vote – they could see and hear what a real black man looks like.

Thank God! This guy is a moron and not worthy of the title General. This is the first General I have ever seen that has condemned an American citizen back home for practicing his Constitutional rights! He should have resigned. I thought the guy burning the Koran was a attention whore and it was stupid but, IT IS HIS RIGHT. Stick to fighting the war and preserving that man’s right to do it and shut your mouth. Patton, MacAurthor, Shwarzkopf would NEVER have done anything like this.

Considering his men would be in the line of fire for that idiot’s action, I’d say he had every right. Actions have consequences, some unintended because the stupid person who does it doesn’t think through the ramifications.

Ryan is a good guy, but he would be political suicide. Some people think that the VP pick is not that important. I do and so do most others. If the pick is not West, Rubio or Jindal, Romney will lose too many votes from the morons that haven’t made up their minds yet. As Michelle Malkin points out, Jindal has better experience, but I lean towards Rubio and West. JMO
