Former President George H.W. Bush is throwing his support behind Mitt Romney for the 2012 presidential race, the Houston Chronicle reported Thursday.
Though falling short of an official endorsement, the move could undoubtedly be seen as blow to his fellow Texan, Gov. Rick Perry, less than two weeks out from the Iowa caucuses. Bush said he’s known Romney for many years and knew his father George Romney, a former governor of Michigan.
“I think Romney is the best choice for us,” Bush told the newspaper. “I like Perry, but he doesn’t seem to be going anywhere; he’s not surging forward.”
Bush said he supports Romney because of the former Massachusetts governor’s “stability, experience, principles.”
“He’s a fine person.” he said. “I just think he’s mature and reasonable – not a bomb-thrower.”
According to the Chronicle, Bush denied he was implying that the GOP field includes any bomb-throwers.
“I’ve got to be a little careful, because I like Perry, he’s our governor,” he said.
In 2010, Bush and former first lady Barbara Bush endorsed Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison over Perry in the Republican gubernatorial primary.
Bush didn’t have the kindest words for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, telling the newspaper, “I’m not his biggest advocate.”
According to the Boston Globe, a Romney adviser said of the Bush backing, “It’s real. Totally.“ The adviser said Romney visited the Bushes a month and a half ago to ”shoot the breeze.”

Bachmann would have us in a world war day 1 not to mention she supports the patriot act and holding US citizens as terrorists…She issues to give Pakistan more foreign aid for intel though they didn’t tell us bin Laden was in Pakistan! More spending means more taxes…
I definitely won’t be voting for Romney either and GHWB endorsing him ensures I would never vote for Romney. GHWB is a progressive just like his son….

Now, Bachmann, hasn’t left Iowa even to vote on a bill. She doesn’t even have gas money for her bus and a staff of 0 in NH. Santorum, he’s broke and doesn’t have soul on the ground anywhere. The original United States has been usurped by a separate and different UNITED STATES formed in 1871, which only controls the District of Columbia and it’s territories, and which is actually a corporation (the UNITED STATES CORPORATION) that acts as our current government. The United States Corporation operates under Corporate/Commercial/Public Law rather than Common/Private Law.
The rewritten Constitution of the UNITED STATES CORPORATION bypasses the original Constitution for the United States of America, which explains why our Congressmen and Senators don’t abide by it, and the President can write Executive Orders to do whatever he/she wants. They are following corporate laws that completely strip sovereigns of their God given unalienable rights.

With today’s technology (TV!), I think that we should all be able to evaluate and vote at the same time.
We’re being handed Romney, which is one of the main reasons that I hesitate supporting him.
His campaign was just starting to generate support in 2008 when he stepped down and supported McCain. A deal was clearly made there in my opinion. Then McCain did not fight. Why? Then, Palin went from speaking freely to something more campaign managed to fit McCain’s refusal or measured and weak engagement of the warning bell issues that so many of us saw and see around Obama. Then we got Obama. THEN we got a fight from the Republicans. Now they are backing Romney, who won’t even call a socialist a socialist and much of the Republican Congress is performing poorly, due mostly to failure to explain the facts clearly, which is probably the most aggravating and long existing quality of the Republicans. They need to educate the public who don‘t understand where they live and what the rules are and why and what’s happening now. They don’t it or make education do it. They still want contributions though!
We need commitment and follow through on restoring and upholding the principles that our Declaration of Independence defines and our Constitution protects with assigned and LIMITED powers.Something really stinks here.

This has earned him a privileged position in the party, and why he is the GOP “Chosen One” this time around.
The establishment might think that because he has played ball for so long, he will make a good puppet in office. However, the fact that he is a Mormon might just throw them a curve ball. Posted on December 22, 2011 at 7:47pmAnother Gem of Wisdom from Newt Gingrich. He’s just sooooo smart I can hardly control myself! I hope he says something this smart if he gets to debate Obama:
The Soviet Union Will Last Forever!
Newt Gingrich touts himself as a “conservative futurist”—and although most futurists recoil at the suggestion that they’re in the business of predicting the future, Gingrich wasn’t quite so careful. His 1984 book Window of Opportunity is packed with predictions of what America might look like in the year 2000 (hint: a lot of it would be on the moon). For someone whose political rhetoric is so steeped in sweeping statements about transformative political developments, though, Gingrich was way off on one of the most transformative political developments of his day:
“We must expect the Soviet system to survive in its present brutish form for a very long time. There will be Soviet labor camps and Soviet torture chambers well into our great grandchildren’s lives: great centers of political and economic power have enormous staying power; Czarist Russia lasted through 3 1/2 years of the most agonizing kind of war; the Nazi state did not collapse even when battlefield defeats reduced its control to only a tiny sliver of Germany.”
“We must therefore assume the Soviet Union will survive as a dangerous totalitarian state.”
THE SOVIET UNION COLLAPSED SEVEN YEARS LATER!
Newt Gingrich, what a Genius!
ROFLMAO!

Some think he flipped his lid when he spoke of activist judges and his opinion of removing certain judges. Actually he was spot on. The supreme court usurped the position of being the last deciding factor on constitutional matters. That was to be left to the people in the voting booth. But, then again, it seems that many do not know that the supreme court is to be the weakest of the three powers, not the strongest! It seems that since the federal government has become involved in the school systems of states that many things are not taught. It shows!

Report Post »Sorry, not impressed with Gingrich’s knowledge of the Constitution. He has his own idea about bringing SCOTUS Justices before Congress to grill them about bad decisions. The Constitution has, however, already set forth a Congressional prerogative for limiting the power of the judiciary: Congress can limit the jurisdiction of the Supreme Court. It is a hammer that has only been used during the Civil War to limit Habeus Corpus as far as I know — obviously a big hammer that is rarely used. Still, if Congress really wanted, it could limit federal court jurisdiction over abortion laws passed by the states (as an example). The power is already in the Constitution — but Big Newton never mentioned it in the debate. Some intellect, huh?

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 8:39pmThe only thing Gingrich knows about the Constitution is how to try and go around it and trick other people by his claim that he’s a historian.
When a politician starts lauding broad reaching regulations, it instantly moves his agenda into a statist ideology. When one branch of government believes they are above the PEOPLE, which is Congress, it is simply called (and accurately) tyranny. When a single politician states that he will have an equal branch of government hauled off to jail, that makes him a dictator.
Combine that with Gingrich’s desire for war and his complete agenda is empire conquest.
He’s a pure communist in every sense of the word. The new dictatorship is known as a Technocracy, especially when you combine it with his Marx fed environmental idiocy and belief in carbon exchange.
He’s dumped 2 other wives to become a “Catholic” where he joined the Scottish Order membership to the Club of Rome.
I don’t need to know everything to know what Gingrich is. He’s a communist.

“This is an historic moment. We have in this past year made great progress in ending the long era of conflict and cold war. We have before us the opportunity to forge for ourselves and for future generations a new world order, a world where the rule of law, not the law of the jungle, governs the conduct of nations. When we are successful, and we will be, we have a real chance at this new world order, an order in which a credible United Nations can use its peacekeeping role to fulfill the promise and vision of the U.N.’s founders. We have no argument with the people of Iraq. Indeed, for the innocents caught in this conflict, I pray for their safety. ”

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 5:39pmRomney definitely won‘t get any Democratic votes if that’s what you’re thinking:
The latest CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday finds that Congressman Paul scores highest amongst minorities when matched up against Barack Obama in a hypothetical election head to head.
Paul scores 25% of the vote amongst non-whites, whereas Romney polls at 20% and Gingrich gets 15%.
Ron Paul is clearly the most popular GOP contender amongst non-whites out of the entire field, suggesting that the “racist” smear, which was heavily pushed back in 2008, has had very little impact whatsoever on the views of those who presumably would be the most likely to be offended by it.

Posted on December 22, 2011 at 9:36pm@ProgressiveDeist267 Ron Paul has zero history of any sort of hatred against minorities or the Jewish people. If what you are referring to is the newsletters, then you might as well just say it instead of dancing around the issue. The newsletters were not written by Paul, but he has taken moral responsibility for letting them go out under his name. The letters were written when Ron Paul left politics to focus on his medical practice. This pretty much explains it all:
For a brief period from about 1990-1994, a small number of newsletters were released sporadically which contained racially hateful and “homophobic” remarks.
This was during a time when Paul had relinquished responsibility for the newsletters’ operation, retired from Congress and an exhausting presidential campaign, and consigned himself to working full-time as a medical doctor and public speaker, in addition to raising five children.
A few objectionable issues managed to leak out under Paul’s nose, quite understandably. Paul did not then and does not now possess superhuman powers. Believe it or not, there were other things that were occupying him at the time. He didn’t have the ease of mind, the way some people apparently do, to devote his days to scanning the newsletters for the occasional rant against gays. Blaming him for this is ultimately like blaming him for comments on his Facebook wall.
The racist comments fly in the face of everything Paul has ever written and said, as many people who kn

“…personally have attested. (Among whom include Rick Sincere, an openly gay libertarian whose run for Congress in 1993 Paul supported and helped collect funds for, at the same time the most hysterical of the newsletters were being churned out.)
Paul was quite angry when he learned of the whole thing. He didn’t issue a full denial in 1996 when it was first brought up only because of the extremely stupid advice of his campaign staff. (Paul is far too trusting and has never been great at picking staffers.) He has in the past decade addressed the issue several times publically, explicitly denying authorship, and there is every reason to believe it and move on.”

As you can see, the attacks are baseless claims about Ron Paul that have no root in reality. The media is dragging them back, even though they’ve covered them before, as if they are something new. If one looks at Ron Paul’s history, one can see that there is not a bigoted or racist bone in his body.
And about supposed “anti-Jewish” sentiments, Ron Paul is perhaps the only Republican candidate available right now who actually supporters Israel. The others want to continue to tie Israel’s hands by dictating what they can and cannot do, all the while continuing to send ten times the aid they send to Israel to her surrounding enemies. of, Israel would wipe the floor with them, at least if Ron Paul was president. If any of the other candidates were, they would condemn Israel for trying to defend itself and it’s people from an attack. In reality, Ron Paul is the only person up there who wants to help Israel.
I also find it interesting that people continue to ignore the bigoted connections other candidates have had. Newt, for example, one said that Spanish was the language of the ghetto. Yep, that’s definitely not a bigoted statement at all.
Hell, Ronald Reagan himself attended a 40th anniversary party for the National Review, who, around the same time, made such comments as:
“The central question … is whether the White community in the South is entitled to take such measures as are necessary to prevail, politically and culturally, in areas in which it does not predominate numerically? The sobering answer is Yes–the White community is so entitled because, for the time being, it is the advanced race.”
“In the Deep South the Negroes are retarded. Any effort to ignore the fact is sentimentalism or demagoguery. In the Deep South the essential relationship is organic, and the attempt to hand over to the ***** the raw political power with which to alter it is hardly a solution.”
Should we chastise Ronald Reagan for doing so? I doubt he knew that National Review wrote such drivel at the time, and I also don’t think that Reagan was a racist either.
