George Zimmerman Asks For New Judge Because Current One Might Be Biased in His Favor

SANFORD, Florida (AP/The Blaze) — The neighborhood watch volunteer charged with killing an unarmed black teenager in Florida asked a judge in the case to step down Monday after she revealed a potential conflict of interest.
George Zimmerman’s attorney, Mark O’Mara, filed the request and said Circuit Judge Jessica Recksiedler revealed the potential conflict last week.
Zimmerman was charged last week with second-degree murder in Trayvon Martin’s Feb. 26 death. The lack of an arrest in the shooting inspired weeks of protests nationwide.
Zimmerman is pleading not guilty, saying it was self-defense.
Recksiedler’s potential conflict involves her husband, who works with attorney Mark NeJame. Zimmerman’s family first approached NeJame about representing Zimmerman. He declined and referred them to O’Mara.
Also Monday, Florida’s governor rejected any suggestions that charges were filed in the case because of public pressure. Rick Scott said he doesn’t believe special prosecutor Angela Corey is influenced by anything but the facts.
News organizations in Florida, including The Associated Press, are challenging the sealing of records related to the case against Zimmerman.
O’Mara asked for the records to be sealed last week.
Records such as full police reports, autopsy reports and transcripts of witness interviews are normally public under Florida law. Zimmerman‘s case doesn’t meet the standards that are typically used to create an exemption, according to the motion filed by the news organizations.
Those standards allow the sealing of records if their public release would create an imminent threat to the administration of justice, if there are no alternatives for protecting a defendant’s right to a fair trial and if closing the records protects the rights of the person being tried.
A spokeswoman for Corey said her office was reviewing the media motion but had no immediate comment. O‘Mara didn’t immediately return an email seeking comment on Monday.
Hearings for the requests by O’Mara and the news organizations have not immediately been scheduled. If a new judge is assigned to the case, Zimmerman’s bail hearing — originally scheduled for Friday — could be pushed back.

Zimmerman attempted to hire the judge‘s husband to represent him and he wouldn’t. If anything I would think zimmerman would assume the bias was against him. Defense attorneys don’t decline a paycheck for no reason.

Posted on April 16, 2012 at 8:15pmUp to now, I’ve believed that this case, was a good case for “stand your ground”, based on the knowledge that has been given through the MSM.., be it biased or not. According to Zimmerman’s defense, he was under serious attack by Trayvon who, after eventual confrontation, was on top, punching him and smashing his head onto the hard surface. Fearing for life, this possibly makes a good case for the “stand your ground” law. On the other hand, Someone like Trayvon “believing” they are being unreasonably pursued and cornered, might have felt the need to confront their pursuer rather than walk away, which is also understandable. Whether Zimmerman stopped his pursuit or not after the 911 operator mentioned it, the unfortunate result ended with Trayvon being shot and killed.
Here is what is challenging my mind in this case: Zimmerman is a community watchman wanting to help authorities to reduce a crime spree in the neighborhood. By Zimmerman’s own claim, he is a “wanna be” cop. He is not a policeman, yet he’s wanting to act as one, “and” carry a weapon. This puts Zimmerman in an assumed position of authority, without any “official” authority. Question is, why is a “watchmen”, who is wanting to be a policemen, “acting” as a policemen with a concealed weapon minus the uniform and badge?
Although I do not believe that Zimmerman pursued Trayvon based on Race (many of his friends are black), I do believe that he pursued him based on suspicious activity. He obvi

Posted on April 16, 2012 at 8:36pmAlthough I do not believe that Zimmerman pursued Trayvon based on Race (many of his friends are black), I do believe that he pursued him based on suspicious activity. He obviously did not fear Trayvon because he knew that he himself had a weapon. Trayvon did not know that. If this had been a confrontation without a weapon involved, this “may” have ended with a couple of scrapes, bruises, and a broken nose. Trayvon may have been up to no good, yet unfortunately, whether he backed off or not, Zimmerman was “acting” as a policeman, under the guise of a watchman.
With this in mind (and although I believe in this law), this is probably an unfortunate attempt, and misuse of the “Stand you Ground” law. Racists such as sharpton, jackson, panthers, etc. need to grow up.

hereandnow
Posted on April 17, 2012 at 6:17pm@ADDIE, Yes, police do open carry, and if that were the case with Zimmerman, Trayvon would have known it (maybe he wants to be an undercover cop). Zimmerman was obviously concealing (legally), yet “possibly” he had his cart before the horse.
I strongly believe in the second amendment, and no, I do not believe that everyone who carries a PCC is a “wannabe”, including you. Actually, I am glad that you are able to carry (I feel safer), but just like a big guy vs little guy, it is the mindset that determines true strength and restraint.
The reason I questioned this is because I remembered a situation that developed back in the 70′s where a schoolmate wanted to be a cop and pretended with his car, etc. It obviously did not go over well with his other schoolmates and some were injured. Fortunately, no one was killed but later years (after actually becoming a policeman), he was arrested for child molesting… just saying.

Once the facts are presented, Zimmerman is going to get off. As he should.

If you shoot someone, and don’t dispute that you shot him, you are a shooter, there is no need for the word alleged. There is probably no need for the word alleged in the case of the Fort Hood shooter. I can’t imagine that he would try to defend himself by disputing the fact that he did the shooting, but because there is no trial yet and we don’t know for a fact what kind of defense he will use, there is no harm in following the customary practice.

How is it relevant that he was black? Oh, because the media only sees racism around every corner.
How is relevant that he was a teenager? Teenagers are shot everyday, mostly by other gangbangin teenagers. Why is age relevant at all? Unless the media is trying to turn him into a cute little kid, by posting pics of him when he was 12! The Blaze does that to. Gotta control the narrative.
How is it relevant that he was unarmed? You don’t have to be armed to kill someone. You can strike their head againt a concrete sidewalk and kill em by blunt force trauma. You can choke someone to death. You don’t need to be armed, so why is this relevant to the media?

So according to some people he had a reason to be suspiciou and follow him. The reason his age relevant is because he was 17 yrs old, no matter how he may have looked he didn’t get to live his life. And the man that took it got to walk away. So lets see it your way and take age and race out of it. A person is dead and for what. What if it were your son would you Justify it then.
