Geraldo Rivera Apologizes for ‘Hoodie’ Comments

NEW YORK (AP/The Blaze) — Fox News Channel commentator Geraldo Rivera says he’s sorry for suggesting a hoodie worn by unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin was as much responsible for his death as the neighborhood watch captain who shot him.

Rivera says it was a conversation with his oldest son that convinced him he was wrong. He says it was the first time 32-year-old Gabriel Rivera said he was ashamed of something his dad had said.

Geraldo Rivera said Tuesday he still believes urban parents should warn their children it could be dangerous to wear clothing that might appear menacing to people who don’t know them.

Martin was shot in Sanford, Fla., last month by a man who said he was acting in self-defense. The shooting has sparked national debate about self-defense legislation.

Rivera had previously stuck by his remarks even after his son suggested he’d been wrong to make them.

I was really perplexed by Geraldo’s comments. I’m pretty sure it was the brutal assault, not the hoodie, that lead to him being shot. He could have been wearing a tutu and he still would’ve gotten shot.

Geraldo – it’s called the species eating themselves – how do you like the Liberal World you help to create – Guess what Geraldo it is going to get worst – You have helped kick God out of America and you and other Liberals are going to see first hand the World you help to created – I don‘t think you’re going to like it one bit – Jerk!

WOW– will the pressure next require Thomas Sowell to recant his support for Riveras’ comments?
I find there was some justification in Riveras’ remarks.

Apology NOT accepted! Can’t anyone say anything and just stand by it? Stop bowing down to the loser liberal media. Get a spine! Be a man for crap sakes. The liberals never apologize for anything and they are canibalistic, child eating, satan worshiping, whores (do whatever for money).

Even though Geraldo is on FoxNews, he’s a liberal commentator. He changed his mind because of a discussion he had with his son … not because of the liberal media. Might I suggest you change your name to Research_Then_Think before posting your comments.

Exactly … Gerry is a first rate weasel.. and that is not being fair to weasels…he is a typical liberal TV hack.. with nothing but a big turd between his ears and wet noodle for a spine…so naturally he will walk back anything that might have the appearance that he has got a pair….I will be glad when he finds the next third world toilet in the middle of a civil war … he might just take a AK round up his sorry rear end and do us all a favor

In 2004, the data shows that for single victim/single offender incidents of which there were 3,067 Black victims, 92.2 percent of them, or 2827, were murdered by black offenders. Extrapolating for multiple victim/single offender incidents for the remaining 3,565 Black victims gives us 3,286 Blacks killed by other Blacks. So in one single year, Blacks killed more than 6,000 other Blacks. That’s right – in one year, Blacks have murdered more of their own than the KKK killed in a century and a half of lynching.

I cannot stand Geraldo, and usually disagree with him. In this one case he was right. The old saying remains true: Live by the sword, die by the sword. If you want to act and look like a gangbanger then you will be treated as such…No matter what kind of person you really are.

When I was in my early 20s in the 1970s I had long ass hair and a full beard. I drove a red and black 72 El Camino. I went into it knowing I was going to get popped by every cop that saw me. I was not disappointed. If you look like a drug dealer then you will be treated as such…

I have nothing against hoodies. Or tattoos, low riders, 20 whatever inch wheels on a car, cranking gangsta rap, or portraying that kind of lifestyle. Hey…It is a free country, you can be what you want…But you should not be naive enough to think it will not effect how people treat you.

Fantastic, Geraldo. Now, why don’t you just sit down, shut up, and give the microphone to your son. He has no idea about that which he speaks but you don’t seem to have any go*ads. You were right to begin with but you let a little intellectually-challenged knucklehead change your mind. What a disappointment you are.
