Geraldo Rivera Uses Chicago Murder Spike to Say He ‘Was Right About the Hoodie’

Fox News host Geraldo Rivera on Friday used Chicago‘s soaring murder rate to say he was right earlier this year in saying Trayvon Martin’s shooting death could be traced back to the teen’s hoodie.

“I was right about the hoodie, wasn’t I?” Rivera on “Fox & Friends.” “I hate to brag, but I got criticized by every pundit in America when I said Trayvon Martin would be alive today but for the fact that he was wearing thug wear – he was wearing the hoodie.”

He continued, “Turns out now we look at George Zimmerman’s interviews with the police: He didn’t profile Trayvon Martin because he was black, he profiled him because he was wearing a hoodie, was a strange kid, didn’t recognize him, wearing the same garb that had been worn by previous perpetrators of house break-ins in his community.”

Rivera was widely criticized for his comments in March, ultimately apologizing to Martin’s parents for them.

According to the Associated Press, murders in Chicago are up 38 percent from last year, part of escalating gang warfare. Rivera slammed the NAACP and the Rev. Al Sharpton for being so vocal about Martin’s death while ignoring the carnage.

“Where is that same feeling of concern in Chicago where 275 African-American kids have killed each other this year alone,” Rivera demanded. “Where is Jesse Jackson? It’s his home town. Where is Al Sharpton? Where is the protest? Where is the concern?”

    Right Geraldo, its their clothing that is killing them. It couldn’t be the FACT that liberal welfare programs have destroyed generations of inner-city Blacks and soon Hispanics. By replacing Black family structure with government, reducing educational opportunities through the teachers union and aided by bottom feeding, professional race-baiters like Rev’s. Jackson and Sharpton, et al, liberals have managed to maintain their segregationist history and kept black Americans on the Democrat plantation, bereft of hope and opportunities. Violence is an expected effect of these conditions and plays into the progressive endgame of civil unrest. They can then step in to solve the problem they have created by implementing their fascist totalitarian government controls, turning America into a police state run by liberal elite.

      I own a retail consignment store. When anyone enters the store with a hoodie over their head I watch the cameras very carefully. I profile based on your attire, not your race. If you don’t look the part, you probably are not shopping, you are looking to shoplift.

      Liberals…common…there has been a system in this Country that started at the end of Slavery to oppress black folks….why to you think they call the Projects the Projects….because it was an experiment by the system to see if they crowed blacks in one place, provide high unemployment and no hope that black will destroy themselves….which has worked out to be very true to some degree..but guess what….it’s true with any race and your seeing it enacted on the news everyday as more and more whites now end up in poverty.

Not clear where the information regarding how many of the gang members are wearing hoodies. And he’s a thought perhaps the crime has something to do with them being in a gang and not their clothing. It still remains one of the stupidest things anyone could insert into a conversation of why an adult would follow, confront, shoot and kill a KID who wasn’t doing anything even remotely related to gang activity.

      Geraldouche is right.

      At least from the standpoint that Zimmerman admitted he profiled Treyvon based upon him wearing the hoodie as gangs in the area had done. That’s been confirmed by the FBI.

      It’s also been verified by the FBI that Zimmerman is not a racist and did not target Treyvon due to color.

      Translation: no hoodie, no profiling. No profiling, no altercation. No altercation, no dead 17 year old kid.

      Uncomfortable as it may be to admit it, you absolutely have to agree that the hoodie was what the entire situation devolved around. So, yes, Geraldouche is correct. We need to be teaching our kids to be cognizant of what gangs are wearing and make wardrobe decisions based upon that.

His handling of the Usama Bin Laden run up on the evening that Obama reported his having personally killed the leader of Al Queda brings gails of laughter to my family as we laughed and laughed at one stupid thing after another rolling out of that putz’s mouth.

      He ranged from World War 3, to Nuclear obliteration of a city, to a terror attack, to saying that maybe Obama had been killed. What an ass. I remember him laughingly with the opening of Al Capones Vault…what a moron. Why he is on Fox is beyond my understanding????

      I find it interesting that you know TM was’nt doing anything at all that was gang related since you know so much, perhaps you should ask to be a witness at the trail. Or maybe you should accept the fact that the only living person who knows exactly what happened that night is Zimmerman. And that is why if you have to shoot, you shoot to kill because dead men tell no lies. My children even know that. Anyone such as yourself who acts as though they know has an agenda. If Z is found qiulty it is only because the race baiting system needs to surrender another ******* to the biggots who beleive that the minorities in this country can do no wrong. He may well be quilty as hell, and if he is then he deserves to fry. But I have seen no evidence of any wrong doing and that is on the state to prove. You may want to think twice about giving this man up while violating his rights because you allow the system to do this because its what you want hope no one you care about ever finds themself in the wrong place at the wrong time, if so then you have surrendered their rights. It is time we stopped giving these powers to the government. Trust me one day you will regret it, when someone with different views then you gets into power. Either we have a Constitution or we dont.

If that person is wearing a hoodie pulled way down over his head, you‘re damn right I’m gonna check him out just a bit closer. Get this, if he’s looking like a banger, I’m gonna look real close.       I cannot stan Geraldo. He is a left leaning idiot. Hoodie my (whatever.) They want to victimize the thug-wannab because it is easier to suck up to the left, than to do as their own laws says and “stand your ground.” Wait until they start getting the crime in their own neighborhoods, then they will wish they had a community watchman like Zimmerman. They have gone out of their way to make him look like a murderer. The man was doing his community watch committment. Had those lazy cops taken care of their duties Zimmerman would not have had to be out there protecting his neighborhood. Of course there are cops who buy goods from theives, so there may be some in there that are trying to get Zimmerman out of the way. Who knows. From the way it looks, they are trying to make it look like Zimmerman was excessive in his calls to the cops about different things. Had the cops done their jobs, Zimmerman would not have had to call so much. That prosecutor is a low life who is taking the easy way out. She/he is not fit to serve in that capacity. She deserves no brownie points for convicting someone trying to help his own community.

    I think Geraldo makes an excellent point. It‘s sad that there’s so much violence among black teenage males…they’re killing each other, and the black community won’t get outraged about it. Al Sharpton, Jesse Jackson, and the NAACP won’t do crap, or even SAY crap about it. They don’t care about where the REAL problems are. It doesn’t fit their narrative, and it doesn’t fill their coffers with donations.

    Gerry Buick, er, I mean Geraldo Rivera, is a truly bad joke who thinks that he’s an expert on everything. The reason the murder rate in Chicago is so high is that the crooked Chicago politicians and police have effectively disarmed the populace, and allowed the gang bangers and druggies to run the place. It’s what the whole country will be like if Obama is reelected and does what he wants. Hoodies aren’t the problem Ger, it’s crooks that are the problem.
