Germany to Israel: Stop Building New Settlements

German Chancellor Angela Merkel
BERLIN (AP) — A spokesman for Chancellor Angela Merkel says Germany is urging Israel to refrain from constructing new settlements in the West Bank and east Jerusalem.
Georg Streiter said Monday Israel’s recent announcement that it would seek contractors to build some 1,000 apartments in both areas conveys “a devastating message with regard to the current efforts to resume peace negotiations between Israelis and Palestinians.”
He says Germany “urgently calls on the Israeli government to refrain from inviting bids for the apartments.”
Israeli-Palestinian peace talks have been frozen for three years, in part because of continued Israeli settlement construction in the territories captured by Israel in 1967 and still claimed by the Palestinians.

“Germany has every right to state its recommendations”
Umm…no! I think you don’t want anybody to tell you how to live in your own house. Do you?. On the other hand, do you like if, for example, Sarkozy tells your county, or your city, or your state, or your country how to conduct the things there?…I‘m sure you don’t. But the most important thing, NOBODY out from your own country has the right to say anything about how you do your own things in your own country. The same goes for Israel as a sovereign state, and if you think they are occupying those areas, you just don’t know anything about history. In such a case, please check the history first.
And just in case of minimal shame, especially Germany must keep her mouth shut!!!

My original post was removed, but you’re still full of crap – ESPECIALLY with your ‘ESPECIALLY Germany’ crap. Germany is a sovereign country like any other, not a country of second class people. It can say what it wants, whether you or Israel like it or not.
By the way, and using your own faulty logic, what makes YOU think YOU’RE entitled to tell Germany what to do (i.e., to shut up)?

Report Post »1. I’m nobody, and I’m not telling Germany anything, I’m telling you about your comment.
2. Whether you like it or not, Germany did the worst to the Jews. That was another government, other people in different times, but still was Germany, and those incredible atrocities have not yet made never in history to any country. And that was just 70 years ago, and if a German leader has common sense and a minimum sense of respect, should be careful about his statements concerning Israel. But again, that requires those two things, and it’s not a requirement that everybody must have them; the mentioned leader could just not have them, and that is pretty common nowadays.
3. If Germany is trying to help as a friendly country, the most reasonable thing would be a private advising using the regular diplomatic channels, or even a friendly call between Merkel and Netanyahu, not complaining using the media trying to increase the press over a sovereign government.
4. Freedom of speech is universal. You’re right, but it doesn’t mean that you have the entitlement to dictate others what they must do, ESPECIALLY between two different countries. Germany can say what it wants to, but it doesn’t mean they have the entitlement to ask for such things. In case you don’t know it, it’s called respect too, and I don’t telling you or Germany how to live, I’m just telling you, that NOBODY has the right to tell other how to conduct their own businesses inside their own h

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 8:06pmI am German, and have always loved the Jews, Even before I became a Christian. We had an older couple that survived the holocaust living in our apartment building. And there always was a whisper about them. Unfortunately the man committed suicide. That happened when I was 10 years old. And when I became a Christian automatically, (I don’t know why) I love them even more.
Germany carries a heavy burden. And I say Germany must do everything it can to protect and stand by the Jews and Israel. My family is in Germany. They don’t like it when I bring up the atrocities Germany committed against the Jews. I believe they are ashamed, and when I talk about the Jews it brings it too close. But they all know where I stand when it comes to Israel and the Jews. My whole family lives in Germany. It is not Angela Merkel who makes these decisions. I am quite certain that other people are pulling the strings. She does not come across as a very strong leader.
With everything that is going on I am not even sure if it is good to go to Germany. I usually go every year. But there are too many things happening in the background in Europe. The Eastern European countries are getting nervous about Russia. It does not look good no matter where you look. It’s like simmering of water that is just before the boiling point.

Like everyone else but apparently you, Germany is living, as it has to, in the present-day world. You’re living in the past and pointing your finger at ghosts. Leave the Nazi hunting to Simon Wiesenthal; he knows what he’s doing. You don’t.
Germany is not telling Israel what to do, as if that would even make sense. They are suggesting what they think would be a mutually beneficial course of action, take it or leave it, and no disrespect intended.
I said, “Germany…is not a country of second class people.” I did NOT, as you falsely accuse, “…think there are countries with second class people…” What do you mean, you’re not insulting me, twisting my words around like that and falsifying their meaning? I DO find that insulting.

Do you think that the German citizenry hates the Jews? I have several German friends that are German citizens and they definitely do not hate the Jews, in fact they HATE the Palestinians for their constant attacks on Israel. They know that Israel was given to the Jews by God and the claim to Israel by Islam is nothing more than a lie. Those Palestinians that claim Israel belongs to them should remain without a country for ever more. Actually, I think that your statement is nothing more than what YOU think which makes you just another Jew hater.

Posted on December 19, 2011 at 2:08pmOkay, as a Jew whose grandparents fled Germany prior to the Holocaust, I’m just have one thing to say: Stop calling Germans Nazis. The Germans of today have done more than most countries to ensure that the evil of the Holocaust is never forgotten. It’s actually a crime to openly deny the Holocaust in Germany. They have given Israel a lot of money in foreign aid (ever wonder why 2/3′s of Israeli cabs are Mercedes?) and stand strongly against terrorism. France is less of an ally to Israel than them, Russia’s almost an enemy, and Switzerland still has possession of many Jewish valuables they swindled during WWII. The last major antisemitic incident to occur in Germany was the Munich Massacre which was perpetrated by the Palestinian Terrorist group Black September. Continued hatred is comparable to Blacks still hating Alabama.

If Germany is assisting in the foreign aid to Israel, they hae every right to speak their position. I know if I give to charities. If I don’t agree with their stance on things, I withdraw sending contributions as anyone else here would do. So if Germany helps in foreign aid to Israel, they have a vote! And if settlements are in violation to agreements previously made by the Jews then they should adhere to the rules! We really don’t know all the facts here!

Rocket attacks on Israel December 2011
December 8
A Grad missile exploded in an open field near the southern city of Beersheba and a Qassam landed in an open field in the Sdot Negev Regional Council. No injuries or damages were reported in either incident.[295] Other nine rockets were fired at Israel, causing no injuries or damage:
• Five rockets landed in western Negev.
• A rocket exploded in the Eshkol Regional Council.
• A rocket exploded in Netivot.
• Two rockets landed south of Ashkelon.[297]
December 9
Six rockets fired from the Gaza Strip exploded in southern Israel:
• Two rockets exploded in the Hof Ashkelon Regional Council.
• Two rockets exploded in the Sha’ar Hanegev Regional Council.
• Two rockets were fired towards the Be’er Tuvia Regional Council. An Iron Dome anti-rocket defense battery intercepted one of the rockets.
This was two days!!!
Arabs stop firing missiles at Israel, may be this would help the peace talks….
