Giants Fan Severely Beaten Up at Dodger Stadium Shows Signs of Brain Damage

A San Francisco Giants fan who was beaten at Dodger Stadium after last week’s opening game shows signs of brain damage and remains in critical condition, a doctor said Tuesday.

Meanwhile, detectives were looking into unconfirmed reports that the same suspects struck other Giants fans minutes before the attack that left Bryan Stow in a coma.

Giants Fan Severely Beaten Up at Dodger Stadium Shows Signs of Brain Damage

Stow’s family took the opportunity to denounce all sporting-event-induced violence:

Stow, a 42-year-old paramedic and father of two from Santa Cruz, remained in critical but guarded condition at Los Angeles County-USC Medical Center. He suffered a severe skull fracture and bad bruising to his brain’s frontal lobes, said Dr. Gabriel Zada, a neurosurgeon.

At one point, doctors had to perform a life saving operation. They had to remove the entire left side of his skull to ease pressure on his brain. The pressure is now normal but Stow remains in a coma from his injuries and from sedation to reduce his brain activity, Zada said.

“There is evidence of brain injury and dysfunction,” Zada said.

It was too early to make a prognosis but such injuries can affect memory, thinking ability and even personality, Zada said.

“It’s going to be a long recovery process,” he said.

Stow was in a parking lot heading to a taxi stand after the Dodgers’ 2-1 victory over the Giants on March 31 when two shaven-headed young men in Dodgers clothing began taunting and swearing at him and two other fans, who were all wearing Giants gear, police said.

Stow was punched in the back of the head. He fell down, bashing his head on the pavement, and was kicked before the attackers ran off.

They fled in a four-door sedan driven by a woman who had a boy with her, police said.

Composite sketches of the men have been released.

The AP contributed to this report.

That paramedic saved lives while these two-legged beasts try to take them away – heartless, despicable animals. Probably illegals that came over the border – the type that Obummer says are simply good hardworking people looking for a break. Makes me want to break something all right. Hunt them down and lock them up. Would be nice if they got a kick in the head for good measure.

Taunts from skinheads should have put him on alert to potentially draw his weapon, oh sorry he lives in the communist state of California where the 2nd ammendment has all but been revoked. I pray he recovers so he can move to a state that allows him to defend himself. Not to say the hooligans involved absolutely needed shot, but it sure seems like they did/do.

I’m probably going to sound racist, but I really do not care. I live in LA and the people that attacked this guy are the same types that decided to violently destroy parts of Downtown LA when the Lakers win or lose.

I have seen them, Cholos waving the Mexican flag, threatening others and acting like total savages. As a southern californian native, I have seen much in the way of violence and overall decay as more and more mexican immigrants are illegally allowed to cross the border and set up shop. After looking at those composite sketches, its not a surprise and its only going to get worse.

I hope that this guy’s family sues the city of LA and the Dodgers over this. On the local radio it was reported that these same two guys also jump some Dodger fans. I heard a retire LS Country Sheriff says that these two scumbags might have gotten their tickets to the game free as part of a cultural program that the city of LA runs. The city of LA is going broke and they a program giving away free tickets. How stupid can you be.

This is the kind of behavior that comes from people who do not know anything of God. Yeah, go ahead and mock me, but just take the time and think it out. This is exactly the kind of behavior that can be expected from people who have no regard for life, or for other’s rights, or for lawful conduct. That all adds up to godlessness. Godlessness describes America whether we like it or not. No, not all Americans are like this, but violence is the course that many who do not believe in God, will take. Our nation has failed to maintain the moral compass that keeps nations sane.

The answer to our dilema has always been the same. This nation needs desperately to get turned around and seej God’s solutions, as we work to stop with our wickedness. Let it start with each of us.

What the hell is wrong with people?

I’ll tell you what, I’m so glad I was in the service. I know that may sound unrelated, but to all you civilians, listen up. In the service, mostly combat arms, they teach something called situational awareness. It is exactly what it sounds like, but it takes practice. All the time, every where you go you need to be aware of your surroundings. You need to evaluate your situation, determine what and who might be a threat, and play out different scenarios in you mind as to how you would handle it. For instance, if a bunch of rowdy yahoos are yelling at you and taunting you…don’t turn your back to them. Ideally, avoid them all together. Not saying that would have stopped this situation, but basic situational awareness, and a heathy dose of human profiling has kept me out of more than a few bad situations in my life.

My wishes to him and his family. :(

I read somewhere – that when the economy is bad and unemployment goes up, crimes like this go up – not all crimes go up – but violence crimes and thieves go up. And it makes sense, there is the pressure that builds up when money is short or/and if you are unemployed and that anger comes out for seemingly stupid reasons. Another reason we need to get the economy under control and people back to work. http://maboulette.wordpress.com

      @Walk,

It appears that these perpetrators were gang members. If the economy was better and jobs were available, it is unlikely that these 2 would be legally, gainfully employed anyway. And, their nature (evil as it is) would remain. I have a struggling business here in Calif. (dead business) but you don’t see me vulturing my neighbors in any way. Instead, I volunteer time where ever I can. Your theory fails in my eyes.
