Gingrich Calls Rep. Ryan to Apologize for Medicare criticism

ATLANTA (AP) — Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich has apologized to congressman Paul Ryan for criticizing his proposal to overhaul Medicare.

Spokesmen for both Gingrich and Ryan tell The Associated Press that the former House speaker called Ryan on Tuesday and offered an apology.

Ryan spokesman Conor Sweeney said the Wisconsin Republican accepted Gingrich’s apology. Gingrich spokesman Rick Tyler says the call to Ryan “went very well.”

The House Budget Committee chairman, Ryan proposes replacing Medicare with vouchers that older Americans could use to purchase private health insurance coverage.

On NBC’s “Meet the Press” last Sunday, Gingrich labeled Ryan’s proposal a “radical” change that would reshape the popular government entitlement program and “right-wing social engineering.”

Gingrich likened the proposal, in its dramatic scope, to the health law President Barack Obama has championed.

Go away Newt. You have already revealed your true colors. Global warming advocate. Not serious about cutting spending or he would have embraced Ryan’s budget. Rino, Rino, Rino. You don’t get to speak how you really feel and then when it is not popular with the people you walk it back and all is forgiven.

Hooray, Obama wins a second term! Nobody will be allowed to run who doesn’t claim to like the Ryan plan. Then, they get to the general election where all the normal people who think Medicare should be the last thing we consider cutting and don’t mind if we ask rich people to pay more taxes to cover it get to vote, and we just play their own words over and over again. We win! You lose! You get to spend four more years gnashing your teeth and spewing venom.

Newt would ball up Barry like a used Kleenex in a debate. Unfortunately he’s just another establishment Republican. This episode just re-enforced that unfortunate fact. It‘s ironic that he labeled Ryan’s proposed solution as radical. It’s because of politicians like Newt who have been kicking the can down the road for so long we have no choice but a radical correction to fix the mess they created.

I’m confused. If he meant it, why should he apologize? I’d like to see Ryan come out & say something to that effect. We have been conned by too many politicians that say one thing then do another or sound real good on the talk show circuit only to have all these failures either personally or professionally. Mr. Gingrinch has a long history of such behavior. He meant what he said because he said what he meant – just because there’s a great public outcry is no reason to about face. Stop the con, hold these guys accountable, regardless of party, understand that when they make statements there’s a reason behind it. So either he read the proposal & doesn’t like it (no problem just explain why it’s bad & don’t apologize – we might agree, we might not) or he didn’t read it & is spouting off for political favor w/ the left or worse he read it & is just sounding off for political points (neither is good and neither is a trait we want in a leader – we’ve had enough of those). All this says to me is that they’re both politicians, and not statesmen. Absolute nonsense.

He never lays out a plan. We can make the U.S. better by making it better. And to do that, we should make the U.S. better…. Yeah that’s great.

Newt, you are part of the problem because you are a Progressive and sorry we have a very bad taste of what the Progressives will do. Just because you are a republican doesn‘t mean that your Progressive agenda is any less destructive than Obama’s. The time for the Progressives to leave for good has come. Go to Europe where your agenda is working and how about the middle east too. We are American’s and we are One Nation under God and we intend to stay that way. We were founded as Consitution Republic and we will return to that with God’s help. Lord, please help us!
