GOP Debate: Gingrich Defends Comments About ‘Invented’ Palestinians

(The Blaze/AP) Republican presidential hopeful Newt Gingrich says he is being factually accurate when he calls the Palestinians an “invented” people and says they are the creation of anti-Israel propaganda.
Gingrich’s chief rival for the presidential nomination, former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney, says the former House speaker had made a mistake in the description and has made it more difficult for Israelis and Palestinians to negotiate toward peace.
“That was a mistake, on the speaker’s part,” Romney said during Saturday’s debate of the interview with The Jewish Channel.
“The United States should not jump ahead of Bibi Netanyahu and say something that makes it more difficult for him to do his job,” he added. Romney said the United States should allow both sides to talk without signaling a preference.
Gingrich responded to the criticism by saying he is speaking as a historian but adds that it’s time for a candidate to stand up to misinformation.
“Somebody ought to have the courage to tell the truth. These people are terrorists,” he said. “It’s fundamentally time for somebody to have the guts to stand up and say, ‘Enough lying about the Middle East.’”

I would definitely not want to be used as cannon fodder for the corrupt capitalist mullahs. But what do I know? It’s a lot better to wage never-ending war against a tiny country that will accept you into their land to work towards a better life.
Ever see all of the desecrations of the holy sites by Arabs? Yeah, they truly are a peaceful people. And why attack the smallest country in the region to try and take their land when there is so. Much desert to be given to Palestinians that other middle east 3rd world countries aren’t building on? Oh yeah, it’s not about Palestinian statehood, it’s about death to Israel. The Palestinians, like occupy filth street, are just useful idiots.

But… No one should be elected and go into the office with a “blank check” like Obama did. We see how that turned out. I was disappointed that ABC fired off the whole evening with the intent of getting them all to fight with each other, and I am disappointed in the candidates for taking the bait. Still, if you sit back and read between the lines, all of them are in agreement on about 90% of the issues, and that does my heart good!

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 10:09amPaul’s comments were more relevant and correct. It doesn‘t matter if the Palestinians are an ’invented people’ or not. It’s none of our freaking business. Let Israel and the Palestinians sort out their own problems.
Also, if we are saying the Palestinians are an ‘invented people’ because they were under the thumb of the Ottoman Empire, doesn‘t that make the Jews an ’invented people’ as well – they had no nation since the Babylonian Empire destroyed them before the time of Christ. And they are not Arabs. Calling them such is no more accurate than calling the Persians in Iran “Arabs”.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:07amLIBERTARIANRIGHT you’re right in part.“jew” is not a race, it’s a religion. Hebrew is what they are.
“We need to read Romans 11. In the 2nd verse Paul says that Israel is not cast away and points to himself as evidence. He became a follower of Christ and he worked for the salvation of the Jews all through his ministry, even though he was the apostle to the Gentiles. In verse 7 he says “Israel has not obtained what it seeks.” Then in verses 19-22 where he is talking about us (Gentiles) being grafted into their olive tree, he says: “Branches were broken off that I might be grafted in. Because of unbelief they were broken off, and you stand by faith. Do not be haughty, but fear. For if God did not spare the natural branches, He may not spare you either. Therefore consider the goodness and severity of God: on those who fell severity; but toward you, goodness, if you continue in His goodness. Otherwise you also will be cut off.“ The words ”did not spare” let us know that as a nation he considered the Jews no longer God’s people. As individuals they can still have salvation; as individuals they are no different from anyone else. As a nation, too, they are no different: all need Jesus. Now consider Galatians 3:29. “And if you are Christ‘s then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.” All the promises of scripture are for God’s people. Today Christians are that people if they “continue in His (God’s) goodness.” Rom. 11:22 .”

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 7:05amEnough of this “palestinian” BS. They are not the “Palestinians” The inhabitants of Judea (the Roman province of) are. they became Palestinians when the Emperor Hadrian decided to name Jerusalem for himself and the Provence for the then extinct Phillistines (Greek sea people–not Arabs from Arabia) The inhabitants are the Jews (Judeans at the time) and their appellation changed with Hadrian’s decree, just lke the Persians became Iranians when they renamed their land Iran. The appellation changed again to Israeli when they renamed their land Israel.
Incidentally, the term Palestinian (Philistine) has its root in the Hebrew for foreign invader. that is what these Arabs are. The West Bank (so named by Hussein of Jordan) or Judea and Sameria might very well be occupied, but it is Arab occupied Israel– the Jordanians invaded and o…ccupied it in 1948, and remained there until they were thrown out by the Jewish “Palestinians” or Israelis.
It is by the good graces of the Israeli people who are willing to accommodate them that the Arab interlopers will get a State of their own.
Maybe then, they will be willing to give the Kurds (a true nationality) their own state. Don’t hold your breath.
Finally, if Abbas and his ilk refuse to recognize Israel as a Jewish state (That was a UN mandate too, you know), what is there to negotiate about?

There will be no peace in the Middle East, particularly between Israel and the interlopers, the “Palestinians”, who are not really Palestinians, but free loading vagabonds of the Arab world, who will never recognize Israel. Therefor, no peace till Christ returns and sends each one of those Mohammed freaks to Hell eternal, least they repent and accept the one and only true Savior of the world, Jesus Christ. Posted on December 11, 2011 at 6:18amPalestine is simply the name given to a specific administrative area by the Romans. If you have a Bible with historical maps in it, you will notice the name Palestine only appears during the time of the Roman occupation. Doubtful the Romans ever called any of the inhabitants “Palestinians”. But they did call them Jews. What Romans called Palestine the Jews called Israel, among other things. Egyptians and other Arab people, moving onto the land, did not call themselves Palestinians. Not until the late-20th century, when that became part of a political power-play.

Call them what you like-they are more indigenous then the european, russian and american zionists who displaced them to create a zionist jewish state.Let them all return to what is now israel-and they would be satisfied to be part of that state now. israels’s reluctance to let them return shows israel to be a “racist” state.[they insist on having jews be the majorit].[Because of that-those arabs now declare themselves palestinians in order to have at least a state of their own in the land they’ve been in a lot longer then the zionist european interlopers were.Calling themseles palestinians is a reaction to having been cleansed by the zionist europeans. You want them to disappear and that they will not do- as human rights -to not be ethnically cleasned -applies to them too-whatever name they adapt. Posted on December 11, 2011 at 12:11pmPalestine land is non existent. Palestine is a region, it Biblical times it encompassed Syria, Israel and the Dead sea southward. Yet the “Palestinian” people who are just Muslims living in Israel is a name they decided to call themselves. It is like us in the states referring to ourselves by the state we live in: Floridian, Coloradoan or a Yankee. This is not a race, it is a regional description. Again, the only area that existed in Biblical times was Philistine, which is the Gaza Strip.
You must remember Israel has always existed since day one. It was Muslim kings who enslaved the Jews in foreign lands; Egypt and Babylon (IRAQ). God gave the Jewish people their land back thousands of years ago and those who occupied the land illegally were kicked out or fought with; many died, many lived to enjoy another day.
It would be like Mexico and the Hispanics living in Texas suddenly claiming Texas as their land even though we fought to remove the riff raff out of U.S. territory in 1836.

If you include the Occupied Territories (the West Bank of the Jordan River and the Gaza Strip), and Israel, together, the population of that areas is still majority Arab by about ~10 million to ~7 million, even after a bunch fled/were kicked out during the Israeli War of Independence, and numerous subsequent skirmishes. The Arab heritage in much of the land now called Israel is not mythical. Jerusalem goes back 3 thousand years, give or take a year or two. Judea goes back to 930 BC
Facts and history, even though the Obama’s want to change it, they can’t unless they kill nall how know it. It like the Taliban destroying the ancient carvings and monuments left by those who were there long ago in Afghanistan…

So his comments may be true and those that are pushing the riots were looking for something to start riots. All true. But do we help in keeping Israel safe by baiting the Palestinians to violence. Let Israel do that themselves.
Gingrich has little tact and has caused many problems with his loose mouth. As a historian, he should remember his own history.

Was that question for me?
Simple we aren’t allowed to fight to win anymore, with Obama rules of engagement we might as well bring all home. Fighting wars on the cheap? is no way to fight a war and they come up with names like shock and awe. Sure we shocked them and ran through them but we did secure anything. As you can tell I was no fan of Bush either. Had we followed up the awe with another 100.000 for security we would have won the hearts and minds. Before that we should have finished Af rock and sand when we could have but that was then and we are where we are now.

However, regarding his comment on Palestinians being an invented people. He’s Right! They are! Some lived in the land that is now Israel again, and they got along fine with the Jews there.. But, the multitude that now calls themselves Palestinians are “invented Palestinians” from Jordan, formerly Trans-Jordan, that also used to be Israeli territory. After 1948, these nomadic people were forced by Jordan and surrounding Arab countries into the new Israeli state to claim “Palestine” as their own for political purposes. It’s sad because they keep them in refugee camps, while Abu Mazen and cronies live it up like kings, while the people starve.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 2:35amSpeaking the truth comes easy to Newt. Undestanding and accepting the truth is very difficult for many Americans and is an impossibility for Palestianians. Grab a shovel and go to anyplace in Israel, including the West Bank and the Gaza Strip and start digging. Palestinian artifacts are confined to the upper surface of the soil while the deeper you dig the more Jewish artifacts are found. The Jewish People have been in Israel for thousands of years. The Palestinian People have been in the West Bank and the Gaza Strip for a very short pereiod of time.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 2:49amWhy does my bible have maps of that area, I’m not sure what they are called, but they are maps of the region during the different time periods of the bible. On the map that outlines Jesus’ travels though the region, Palestine is clearly marked. Of all the people of Israel, only the ‘Jews’ or tribe of Judah remained in/near Jerusalem because God had promised David that his line would be preserved. All of the other tribes, or Israelites, migrated elsewhere. God had already uprooted them, as he had said he would.

You are aware people like Bill Ayers have long been rewriting our history and Dr. James Cone’s rev.Wright have been trying to rewrite the Christian faith. I believe, and feel free to correct me, that the pre 1967 borders eliminate the golan heights defense as Israeli land. So it’s not about Palestinians at all, it‘s about Israel giving away it’s tactical advantage which has been it’s saving grace for all these years. No golan heights equals all out offensive from Persian animals.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 2:31amScore a big point for Gingrich. There is no such thing as a Palestinian. The people that make up the “Palestinian” population are Syrians and Arabs that rushed to settle the area after Israel was given statehood in an attempt to dispute the validity of Israel’s statehood. They’ve been migrating in small groups there ever since. Thank you Gingrich for not being afraid to confront the b.s. that has been promoted by the mainstream media for the last 40 years or so. The vast majority of the native Semite people that lived in the area have continued to live within the borders of Israel and are against “Palestinian” statehood.
This will never be over until the Muslim agenda of wiping all Jews off the planet and either eliminating or subjugating all unbelievers is overcome.

Report Post »The Islamic (Muslim) people will never let Israel rest. Israel will have to defend herself constantly. The least we as a nation, and as individuals, can do is to support Israel by aiding with $$, assisting Israel in the UN and making sure that the “refugee” issues are dealt with in light of the fact that many of the “refugees” are in fact the children of the original refugees.
When the Arab League planned the war on Israel in 48, they called on on their people to get out of the way of the massive military might that would roll over Israel and then they could go back to their homes without having the “Jewish” population around. The “refugees” are still waiting…Israel is still around. Check the facts about the war of 1948 and the exact planning on both sides before you speak.

Posted on December 11, 2011 at 11:16amThe biggest thing the world could do end the Muslim problem is get off oil as a fuel source. Methanol is more easily manufactured from a number of sources. I wish the powers that be would pursue that and I wonder why they don’t. Apparently the conversion of autos to run on the stuff is fairly simple and it is CLEAN. Anyway, take away their funding for mayhem by whatever means necessary. The world continues to play footsie with the devil to get are oil.
Report Post »MarsBarsTru7
Posted on December 11, 2011 at 3:29pmToto – I am very much behind getting off oil as a fuel source. There are many things that can be made from oil that are very useful, but we don’t need it for fuel. Alcohol and methane are both replenishable fuel sources that will make great transition fuels until even better sources of energy/fuel are found/created.
The reasons for the opposition to alcohol and methane as fuel sources are numerous, but they primarily stem from large oil companies that know the dangers to their industry posed by such fuel sources. Virtually anyone can create alcohol or methane fuel and it would be too difficult to regulate, tax, control the supply of, and make a profit from if they became primary fuel and energy sources. It’s all about the $$$, and it’s not about making money in general, but about holding onto a hierarchy. The same people opposed to alcohol and methane as fuel and energy sources are against litigation freedom as well. They go hand in hand to protect the top tier. Meanwhile they can pretend they’re interested in a free market by challenging tax hikes to the top income earners. It’s a farce. They’re largely protected by the tax scheme.
The whole thing must come down. Taxes lowered to below 7%, permanently, for everyone. An end to litigation restrictions, permanently. A permanent and unprecedented unregulated free market. An end to social programs, starting with Planned Parenthood. And last, but not least, an end to the extended powers assumed by the executive branch
