Gingrich Falls Asleep at AIPAC, Wakes Up More Than a Little Confused

Newt Gingrich Falls Asleep for AIPAC Live Streaming SpeechMoments before he was slated to speak via live video stream before the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), GOP presidential contender Newt Gingrich was caught on camera sleeping rather soundly.

After he awoke, however, things became even more bizarre as it seemed the former House Speaker was either thinking about the secretary of defense or was talking about him with someone not seen. You can hear Gingrich say: “Listening to Panetta is not a relaxing experience.” He then slipped back into his stupor.

Upon his second awakening, Gingrich was introduced for his speech, where he then “welcomed questions from the panel.” The problem was — there was no panel.

“I understand you have a panel. I look forward to any questions,” he began.

An awkward 12 seconds of silence followed and Gingrich stared blankly into the camera.

This must have been much too much for the AIPAC introducer to bear as he cut the pregnant pause by saying, “Mr. Speaker, there is not a panel.” “Please do continue, sir,” he urged.

Gingrich then sprung halfway back to his usual form:

“Let me just say – I say this pretty briefly, I think,” Gingrich riffed. “We need a fundamental reassessment of our entire understanding of the threat of radical Islam.”

Why is he still in this race? He is running behind ron paul in most states. Gingrich staying in only helps romney. If newt drops out, santorum wins nearly all the big super tuesday states.

Makes you think romney and gingrich have a deal. Nothing would feed gingrich’s ego like a VP position…

Why is everybody picking on Newt ? – Is it his age or his weight? Or his personality?

Newt is a strong Ultra Conservative Voice to the right of Santorum or Romney or Paul or Reagan or Eisenhower or Nixon or Goldwater or Wallace– who has embraced Catholicism, and is now ready to enlighten a whole new generation!

(By the way, ask any wife, even a good Catholic, if “being a workaholic” is a good excuse for secretly living an alternate relationship with an unmarried second woman.)

I think Newt is a flawed genius, as I have listened to some of his C-SPAN recordings going back 20 years, but I see his teachings on morality as abstractions based on his low discipline example.

I think he is running to increase his book sales and speaking fees. He will never take the Independent Woman’s Vote, and I personally would not give him 50 cents of my earnings. It’s C-SPAN or nothing for Mr. Newt Ca-Ching! Rich

Newt is by far the most qualified to reverse the obama “LOST DECADE” and irresponsible alimsky agenda. He‘s the only one who understands what’s going on. He is the one who can guarantee the victory AND bring a Conservative majority with him. Newt has just been kicking back to clear the fray. Romney is a shill. Santorum has a better chance than Romney, but not near as much as Newt v Obama. Newt has a platform written in stone that is simple and clear. THAT MEANS MANDATE! to do everything he ran on. THAT means there is heavy pressure on congress to go with it for anyone except a pelosi/waters type gerrymandered district.
Besides – Obama will try to run on Bill Clinton’s record – Newt takes that away entirely.
We the people better wake up! NOW!

      Newt
      1) Powerhouse that BALANCED the BUDGET with a scorched earth policy that took no prisoners on either side of the isle.
2)Hawk against Militant Islam. Truly understands the Islamic cult and has the strength to stand front and center and say it out loud. With a big friggin stick I may add.
3)Understands the danger of Obama and tells the truth he is a Marxist Radical (Not willard saying he is a nice guy just in over his head)?
4)Newt will put a halt to the assault on religion and the constitution by going after radical left wing judges.
5)Newt will reform our domestic energy policy and turn much of our country to North Dakota unemployment numbers.
6)Newt absolutely shreds these left wing media arses and will get the message to the American people around the media like Reagan did.

      Newt/Rubio with

Wow, that’s pretty stupid. Anyone who has spent any time watching the primary knows that Gingrich absolutely hates Romney. Gingrich is in this for himself, it has nothing to do with the american public so he’s going to keep going as long as he can.

Regardless, this is really a low blow for ABC to release this video. Just because he was closing his eyes prior to his appearance doesn‘t mean he was sleeping and just because he thought there was a panel doesn’t mean he was disoriented from sleep…he could very well have been told it was a panel by one of his staff. Besides, that video was heavily edited just to show when his eyes were closed.

Romney and Santorum do have some similarities. Neither one of them have any specifics in their speeches. A bunch of sound bites, like; “that’s not going to happen during my administration“ Yet there is very little or none of ”This is what I plan to do and this is how I’ll do it” Watch Santorum’s appearance on Fox News Sunday this past Sunday. You‘re going to tell me that Santorum want’s Newt to back out? Disoriented? I challenge anybody to keep the schedule that these candidates have kept and tell me you wouldn’t be dragging. By the way, have you seen the size of Mass.? Don‘t forget Santorum doesn’t have much more experience than Obama did and look what a mees we’re in now. How about some Lincoln – Douglas style debates? Everyone want‘s Obama’s birth certificate. What about Santorum’s?

Santorum refuses to provide proof of his eligibility to be president.

      http://networkedblogs.com/uR32B

No question Santorum was born in the US, no one wants to see his birth certificate but since his father is an Italian immigrant he had to be a naturalized US citizen at the time of his birth for Santorum to be a natural-born citizen and to be eligible for president.

      http://networkedblogs.com/uR32B

Many, many contacts over several months by many people to Rick Santorum’s campaign offices by telephone, letters, and email … and even to his home address in VA via registered postal mail with questions about how, where, and when his father Aldo Santorum [who was born in Italy to non-U.S. Citizen parents] became a US. Citizen, have gone unanswered. Rick it is a simple question and the public has the right to know. When did your immigrant father who came to the USA naturalize? Provide a copy of the paperwork of same to the American electorate. Rick Santorum has been asked repeatedly to provide copies to the public of his father’s Citizenship papers.

The questions to Rick Santorum have gone repeatedly ignored and unanswered. Why? This evasive behavior on this subject by Rick Santorum reminds me of the same type of behavior by Marco Rubio. See the prior story about Marco Rubio and ultimately what we learned as to why he was evading answering the citizenship status of his parents

Oh B.S.! He says it’s up to the local community on illegals who have proven their value and are upstanding citizens. THAT is not amnesty for illegals. He does not add trillions to the debt – not sure what fuzzy math your working – but try the standar 2+2. Why don’t you read what the man has writeen and his contract instead of taking MSNBC talking points!

@DAVEOREGON you forgot to address the third point – that he can’t beat Obama. He not only would beat Obama, he would DESTROY him. Rewt for Newt!

I’m firmly in the Romney camp…and think Gingrich is a mistake. With that said… how about some courtesy …just because you are able to catch someone sleeping or making a mistake doesn’t mean you should broadcast it to the world. I am so sad about the “gotcha” world we live in. I’m not saying it will change… I just think this and several other gaffs of these guys should never hit the press. It’s what they say consistently and clearly that should count.

I recorded this last night and after his speech, you could tell how exhausted he was. He may want to start taking multiple 15 minute naps. http://youtu.be/aIL_6u8VG3E

That’s what I thought. He might have been responding to a coversation the tech people were having over his earpiece.

But I guess for ABC, being asleep or playing golf for 3 years, and having your finger on the button, is Okay. Hopefully Obama doesn’t suddenly wake up and yell, “I ready for the launch codes.”

By the way, ABC, where is all of Biden’s gaffes?, or the fact that Obama couldn’t get the Governors name correct the other day? How about his visit to “ROAD Island”? No, I guess only the Republicans have to be perfect, Dems can be perfect A$$es.
