Glenn Beck Joins Keith Ablow on ‘Today’ to Talk About….‘Angry’ Rhetoric

On Wednesday, Glenn Beck appeared alongside co-author Dr. Keith Ablow on the “Today” show to talk about their new book, The 7: Seven Wonders That Will Change Your Life. Interviewer Meredith Viera kept the topic about the book initially, although she did point out a couple times how Beck is controversial and a “lightening rod.”

But as predicted, Viera could not conduct the entire interview without bringing up the mainstream media’s obsession with violent rhetoric (it only took four minutes into the nine minute interview). In fact, Beck and Viera had a slightly testy exchange when she tried to corner him about his contribution to angry political speech and insisted on quoting past comments:

Beck responded to the question in general by saying that political speech must be put in context.

    MV reminded me of a vicious sounding little yappy dog confronting the family’s loyal dog. Sorry about the dog comparison but she got more irritating the longer she yapped. IF GB would have said boo I think she would have cried.

    He’s controversial because they NEED him to be controversial. He’s an upset to their progressive takeover of every transaction in their realm.

    And their narrative MUST be maintained, and in order for that to occur, they have to focus their follower’s attention on a sense of injustice, and inflame them at EVERY opportunity, or they fail.

    I can’t watch that nauseating woman for more than a few seconds so I do not know if she brings up the Tucson shootings. However, since NBC and all other main-stream networks blamed the tragedy on “rhetoric” from the right ( rather than on the perpetrator ) , it is important to point out that today we have learned the truth about who is actually responsible for the shootings –

    DOJ Policy From Clinton Era Kept Loughner Off FBI Gun List – The Washington Post reports, “An old policy memo from the Clinton administration paved the way for” Loughner “to buy his first firearm. Put in place by former attorney general Janet Reno, the policy prohibited the military from reporting certain drug abusers to the FBI, which manages the national list of prohibited gun-buyers, federal officials said.“ Loughner ”attempted to enlist in the Army in December 2008 but was rejected because he failed a drug-screening process, Army officials said.”

    Bill Clinton and Janet Reno have blood on their hands ….

    As he stated, John Stewart should be asked the same question regarding political jabs he has made. In fact, Stewart is lauded for his biting political wit, which is pretty rough at times.

      Stewart is far more of a problem than Glenn Beck ever will be. Ask most any ignorant child of today where they get their news and they will usually respond John Stewart. And they argue if you try to educate them with the fact that Stewart is nothing more that a cheap comedian. Glenn Beck does not read news, he espouses an opinion, and some of us agree and some us do not. But Stewart’s word seems to be truth, not matter how he twists it for a laugh. And if it wasn’t for Beck, Stewart’s numbers would probably be slashed by half.

      Sadly, Stewart‘s news is less biased and more based in reality than Beck’s. The true crime is the Beck should be on Comedy Central were people would actually realize he’s a comedian and not take him seriously. Unfortunately, he isn’t, and people actually think he’s reporting facts.

    I am actually surprised that Mr. Beck was invited on to the show. If anyone watches it, maybe they can truthfully see where he is coming from. We don’t really need so many different “Alphabet Networks” because they all say the same thing from what I have seen. Do people think for themselves anymore?

      And what about Beck dodging other people like Stewart? Stewart has asked him to be on his show (or vice versa) several times but he keeps slinking away. Gee, I wonder why that is. Seeing as how even O’Reilly, on a good day, has a tough time keeping up with Jon, I don‘t think Beck would fare too well since Beck is a far inferior debater to O’Reilly. There’s a reason he almost never brings people who disagree with him on his own show…

      No I will have to take exception with you on that. I think that Glenn Beck was wise to go on this show. There are many people who just take the lamestream media’s word that Glenn Beck is a hater and by appearing on this liberal show he came across poised, caring and the exact opposite of what the shows producers were probably hoping for. There are many who watch this show who may be very liberal yet still honorable people with integrity, those are the people who would come away with a different perspective and be seeing Glenn Beck in a new light. Yes it may be a smaller percentage of the people who watch that show but still well worth his time and effort. Of course there are those far left types that wouldn‘t be convinced of the error of their thinking if Jesus Christ himself appeared to them those are hopelessly deceived and no body is going to change them and Glenn Beck is going to be a hate monger and fool in their eyes no matter what he does short of becoming a leftist which just ain’t gonna happen.

      I believe he went on the show for his book like all writers do but Viera wouldn’t allow that, she had her agenda. The problem was she tried to turn it into a “controversial interview” like they always do to make themselves relevant. That didn’t work because all Glenn and Keith had to do was stand on principles. The MSM has a melt down when people stand on principles.

    She tried to turn the whole interview into him being a hater. I am glad that she did because he addressed her questions and while doing so showed just how empty the constant complaints by the radical Left against him are. If her intention was to make him look like a “hater”, and I am not saying that was her intent, then she failed miserably. Glenn Beck came off looking like a caring and concerned person trying to help people and the country.

      Well it worked! I have not watched the Today show in years , and only tuned in today to see Glenn. When did they start employing game show hosts to do interviews? Anyway.. the reason to interview Glenn is 2 fold. 1: boost ratings by getting conservatives to watch the show and 2: whoever can make Glenn look like a fool will be the new darling of the Progressives and will be invited to a dinner party at Spooky dude estate.

      Watched the video and I have to say it turned out exactly the way it was intended. Questions about what G.B. said 8 years ago and about the correction of G.B.’s thinking that B.H.O. was racist.       I show my support for Becks right to free speech by a simple act of buying his books. I started what I call my paths to freedom collection they I freely share with family, friends and neighbors, They can use any of my books to become better educated in the history of the people they hear condemned by the media all the time.       The Bible tells us to “Be ye angry, but sin not.” (Ephesians 4:26). WE ARE ALLOWED TO BE ANGRY. such as how angry we were on November 2nd, 2010. However, we are not to physically hurt another person UNLESS it is to protect ourselves or our families, such as during a home invasion, etc..

      The reason is simple and very disturbing. America is fast becoming a post-Christian nation, and as a result, Christianity is coming under increasing attack.

      The Secularists and Humanists who are fighting to gain control of our nation hate everything that Christianity stands for — particularly such things as morality, individual liberty, and free enterprise. They are determined to erase all vestiges of Christianity from our social consciousness. Christmas and Easter have been replaced with “Winter Holiday” and “Spring Holiday.” The Ten Commandments have been declared unconstitutional. Prayer and Bible reading have been banned from our public schools. Personal expressions of the Christian faith, like wearing a cross on a necklace or a lapel, have come under attack.

      President Obama has started censoring the Declaration of Independence when he quotes it. Instead of quoting in its original form, he deletes any reference to our Creator. Thus, his revised version reads as follows, with the bracketed words deleted: “We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed [by their Creator] with certain unalienable rights…” This is an outrage. Our natural rights come from God, not government.

      The President has also started referring to our “freedom of worship” instead of our “freedom of religion.” This is a deliberate change of words that carries great implications. Freedom of worship means nothing more than the freedom to worship God in the privacy of your home or church. Freedom of religion means the right to exercise your religion publicly.

      And then there is the effort on the part of the Secularists and Humanists to limit our freedom of religious expression through the enactment of hate crime laws. The idea is to use these laws to stop Christians from speaking out on moral issues like homosexuality and same-sex marriage.

      Christian access to the airwaves is in jeopardy as attempts are made to submit all broadcasting to review by local community boards to assure “balanced expression of opinions.“ Censorship masquerades under the ”fairness doctrine” which would require equal time for all viewpoints. Thus, if a Christian broadcaster were to speak out against abortion, he would have to supply free time on his program, at his expense, for a pro-abortion person to express his views.

      Christians are being targeted for harassment. A photographer is sued for discrimination because he refuses to accept a job photographing a same-sex marriage. A woman has legal charges brought against her because she posts a notice on her church’s bulletin board announcing she has a room for rent and is looking for a Christian room mate. Again, she is charged with “discrimination.” University professors are routinely denied tenure because they are Christians.

      Who watches these shows? Seriously. I don’t even watch liberal morons on Fox like Gerbaldo. I DVR all the shows I watch and speed through any segments with ********. I watch Glenn‘s show because he doesn’t play the Hannity game where guests yell and scream about Democrats vs Republican.
      If you wouldn’t stand on the street and listen to a demented homeless cretin covered in feces then why would you let ******** like them into your home and listen to their anti-American, anti-family, pro-pedophile, pro-rapist crap? Today? Really? What the heck is wrong with people? Use the tools you have on your satellite box and block all of these networks.

      Glenn Beck goes on these liberal biased shows to sell books and get some exposure for new audience members. The 10 minutes he had to be on the air probably sold 5,000+ books and all he had to do is talk. The kind of people that watch this program probably would have never heard of this book if he did not do this program. Glenn is not dumb. This golden goose could be gone tomorrow and he is collecting as many eggs as he can.

      Glenn isnt controversial. he sat there listening with the makeup the show put on him. they didnt do a good job since you could see his white neck, was that on purpose? he answered the questions honestly, no spin. he is there selling their book like most writers do on this show. and by the way a book that could be helpful. take it or leave it. a book full of wisdom, chock full of common sense. the truth never ends. others would post it differently because they are….mmmm ENVIOUS !

      The local TV guide channel here in leftie land WA. state uses the words,“unconventional and controversial” in its description of Glenns show on air. This synopsis has been their since his show began on Fox.
      Ones mainstream(me, us ,right minded) is anothers controversial and unconvential

      He went on the show to talk about his book, but she just had to insinuate that he is responsible for for violence in our country (Arizona) .
      In my opinion: Tragedy struck in Tuscon. A maniac murdered people in cold blood.
      Within minutes, the vultures came out. Censorship vultures (of the Shut-Conservatives-Up variety), Gun-Control vultures, Progressive-Agenda vultures, all showed up before the bodies were even cold, trying to get something for themselves from the deaths.

      These cheap shots at Glenn show they are still at it. They want him to shut up most of all.
      He was great on the show.
      Hope he made some of the viewers stop and think.

      His quoting obama’s hateful rhetoric “If the Republicans bring a knife, Ill bring a gun.”
      after quoting Obama he then explains it has political discourse that was a master stroke. . .He looked like the teacher and the Today show host like a student on her own program. . .
      Impressive Beck even with the deck stacked against you, you manage to stay a step ahead.

      I thought the interview went well. I don’t like the show or the interviewer but I thought it went well for as much of it being on NBC…. I would like now to see her interview Jon Stewart to see if the intensity of her questions and her concern of the statements made by him are the same. By the way, still will not watch this show.
