Glenn Beck Joins ‘Real News From The Blaze’ to Discuss the Politicizing of the Pulpit

The Congressional Black Caucus, Attorney General Eric Holder, the ACLU, and officials from the IRS spoke with hundreds of Pastors in the African-American community at a summit Wednesday on how to participate in the 2012 election. Prior to the event, the groups said they would not discuss specific support of any one candidate, which would conflict with the churches’ non-profit status, but would brief the community on energizing congregants to vote, protecting a church’s tax exempt status, and taking on “draconian” laws like Voter ID. Considering the mix of political players from the CBC and ACLU with traditionally non-partisan institutions like the Attorney General’s office, IRS and the church, some worried that the discussion could lead to the politicization of the pulpit as a means to reach out to the Democratic base.
Among African-Americans, 83 to 90 percent have supported the Democratic presidential candidate in elections between 1980 and 2004 , and 95 percent supported Barack Obama in 2008. Seventy-eight percent of Jewish voters supported the president in 2008, and like African-Americans, some eyebrows have been raised following alleged attempts by high-level Jewish Democrats to reach out to the practicing base from within the temple. DNC Chair Debbie Wasserman Schultz caused recent controversy when she was scheduled to speak at a Miami temple without an opposing view or any sort of counterpoint. Following vocal protest from several members of the congregation, the event was canceled.
While those supporting the president from his campaign team, cabinet, and the DNC seem shameless in attempting to rally his election day troops by coming in through the chapel back door, should religious communities be totally muted out of the political process? Are religious leaders really absent from partisan politics on both sides?
The “Real News” panel was joined by Glenn Beck Wednesday to discuss whether a discretion between political and religious actors even exists, and if so, what are the implications of Wednesday’s event for conservatives and liberals.

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 10:17amEvangelical pew-sitters are uninformed and uninvolved politically. It’s okay for the black churches, where everyone apparently is a “reverend.” But just try to get an evangelical pastor to take a stand. Abortion is abhorrent to God. So is homosexual marriage. Where do the candidates stand on these issues? If biblical principals inform a person’s voting habits, the choice should be clear. Where do the candidates stand on values such as hard work, personal responsibility, integrity, property rights, etc. We have lost a generation of children to the “everyone gets a trophy” world view, and these Christian young people voted for BO because he seemed to represent “hope.” Wake up, churches.

Whoever is in the White House, will not change who Jesus is! Choose this day who you will serve. God Holds the hearts of all men in His Hand and he can turn them anyway he chooses, man may purpose many things in his heart, but it is the LORD’S Counsel that will stand! People praise Him with their mouth but their hearts are far from Him. I know where my help comes from and it is not from any President!

It appears as though the IRS gestapo and DOJ instructed black churches how to skirt the law on campaigning as a non-profit entity. Surely the act of the training in and of itself is illegal, no? The DOJ has become the Department of Injustice under the Obama Regime. Who in Congress has the backbone to initiate impeachment hearings against Eric Holder?

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 6:42amAs a member of the clergy, I’ve opposed this sort of thing for as long as I can remember, regardless of which part of the spectrum it comes from. I have no qualms about a candidate telling us that he/she is informed by their faith. That’s perfectly proper. I have no tolerance for preachers vacating their pulpits to allow a candidate to “preach” a campaign speech. I don’t have a problem with a preacher making a reasoned, biblically backed-up argument on an issue. I do have a problem with a “preacher” baptizing political talking points with proof-texts. There‘s a difference in both where you begin and where you’re trying to go.

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 2:58amYes, because conservatives don’t start faith-based initiatives, don’t preach messages with implicit (or explicit) political messages, and CERTAINLY don’t invite speakers who reflect their (when talking about religion, more often than not conservative) worldviews.
I’m sorry, but what part of explaining to institutions how they can conform to the tax laws which currently apply to them (if and only if they desire to retain the PRIVILEGE of paying no taxes on the money they collect from their parishioners) is sinister exactly?

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 2:36amA couple of weeks ago, Glenn made a “Lion King” analogy. Obama/Soros, etc. were likened to “Scar.” Glenn was too modest to point out that he, too, has a representative character in “Lion King” — “Rafiki” awakens the good and true king to who he is and his responsibilities to restore what has been lost due to treachery, lies and murder. Glenn must certainly know that he is “Rafiki”

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 1:10am…So, shall we listen to…
1) The Self-Dealing BUY-MY-BOOK politician (saying he’s good, but OTHERS are NOT ANGELS!)
….or shall we listen to…
2) The Self-Dealing BUY-MY-BOOK televangelist (saying he’s good, but OTHERS are NOT ANGELS!)
…or shall we listen to…
3) The Self-Dealing BUY-MY-BOOK entertainer (saying he’s good, but OTHERS are NOT ANGELS!)
Each archetype enjoys broadcasting to a closed-in, penned-in, captive, obsequies, easily-sheared kind of low mentality sheeple that will always believe their leader who says he’s good, but OTHERS are NOT ANGELS!
#1 says it’s #2′s and #3′s problem. #2 says it’s #1′s and #3′s. #3 says it’s #1′s and #2′s.
The American Mind was really a #4 type. It learned from Madison ALLL LEADERS ARE NOT ANGELS.
Therefore, pay attention to what goes on behind the curtain, which is usually Neuro-Linguistic Programming: a) stage hypnotism, b) showmanship, c) misdirection and d) suggestion.
Derren Brown on Youtube shows how easily politicians, ministers and entertainers can con people.
Usually the crowd loves the conman politician, the conman minister and the conman entertainer.
Usually the crowd hates the #4 archetype, who wants to explain to the sheep how the first three archetypes usually cannot help themselves but con the sheeple and eat their brains.
The #4 archetype tries to prevent mental rape, but the crowd wants to crucify him for making them wake up and think and see.

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 3:35amI would expand the words of Madison to “there ARE no angels.” Every human being, by their very existence and what it means to BE a human being that exists, exercises power and has it exercised upon them–how they choose to USE this capacity is an ongoing and active process that lasts the entirety of their life. No one is inherently “good” or “evil,” rather people make choices that are good or evil, and some people through this practice, develop a method of exercise that tends towards choices we would describe as being either more or less good or evil. But the noblest human, who is considered so noble because they exercise their power in a generally noble way, is never guaranteed by their previous acts of nobility to remain so, and can just as easily choose to exercise that power in a depraved way if their method of exercise fails them, while the most depraved human can just as easily exercise their power to noble attainments, were their method of exercising power to change. The exercise of power is the making of a human life, and the judgment of that exercise is moral judgment–no humans are predestined to BE either good or evil, but rather the actions they exercise are so defined by schemes of knowledge, regimes of truth, which define what gets counted as “good” or “evil.“ There is no ”good“ and no ”evil“ as a fundamental ”fact” of existence–rather we CREATE good and evil in our exercise of power, but we DO create it, and it is very real.

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 1:25pmWow ARCHON you are all over the place. Well you said a mouthful, most of which I disagree (shocker):)
We are born in sin just as sure as sparks fly upward. We are ALL sinners and there is good and evil. First you said people are not inherently good or evil–then you said we “create” good and evil (same thing). Well I can assure you we are very evil from birth. We are selfish and want to satisfy our fleshly lusts. Have you ever had to teach a toddler to be selfish? “Mine, mine”. No if they want a toy another kid is playin with they’ll grab it right out of their hand (and hit them with it if they feel like it).
Trusting God for His goodness is the only way we can overcome the selfish desires we inherently have which are things like: fornication, idolatry, nor adultery, being effeminate, homosexuality, stealing, being covetous, being a drunkards, revilers, and swindling.
But if we trust in Him–He gives us His power of the Holy spirit:
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control.” (Galatians 5:22)
Surely I was sinful at birth, sinful from the time my mother conceived me. Psalm 51:5

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 12:11amLet’s be clear, The Government has NO business telling the Church (any church) what they can and can not say including politcally. What is a violation of Church and State, is that Holder and the IRS didn’t bring their party and their “advice” to all the churches, but picked which one(s) they would. They should be sued and kicked out of service/ loose their jobs. Especially when you dig and find out did the churches ask for this “training” or did the government offer to give it? And if it was “asked for”, did the government have the obligation to say “everyone or no-one”. Right now if every single church in the U.S. asked for the same “training” to be done by the same level of seniority officials, I believe they are obligated to do it, and get it all done before the votes are cast.
Report Post »I also think it takes a huge idiot to stand in front of an assembly of religous leaders and claim the most important right is the right to vote. Not the freedom of relegion, no the right to vote. Because as soon as they have 51% of the vote, they will cancel that freedom of relegion now wont they.

Posted on May 31, 2012 at 5:10amI agree that they should stay out of the churches. However, Epic Holdup and Sweet Old Barack read the laws the way they want and not how they are written. The AGs job is not to campaign on the taxpayers dime or to tell pastors how to politicalize their sermons.
Don’t forget this is the same bunch that refuses to answer questions about Fast and Furious, refuses to enforce immigrarion laws, is against voter ID and makes impossible demands on conservative (TEA party) organizations when they apply for tax exempt status.
When it becomes apparent to them that they are going to lose the election look for some really illegal manuvering. Remember that Sweet Old Baracks opponents, in the past, have met with some type of problem that causes them to drop out and leave him unopposed.

i would like to ask the black christian pastors one question.
blacks vote 80%-95% democrat,so why don’t these democrat elites want any voter id laws, this leaves millions of more whites than blacks with-out voter id,do you think this makes any sense,if it don‘t smell right maybe it isn’t,and their putting you and your church in the middle why?
i did’nt want to go here but i feel i have to,using common sense you have to think these elite democratics are figuring there is a better chance of the black, and white democrats are more likely to commit voter fraud.
this also hurts blacks with the illegal aliens, there are lots of voting districts with many illegals with no voter id’s,so it’s more likely these votes could cost blacks their due local representation.
but as long as the democrat elites can count on the the backing of blacks the same agenda continues.
