Glenn Beck Makes Hollywood Reporter‘s ’Digital Power 50′ List

Each year, The Hollywood Reporter releases its “Digital Power 50” list. The Digital is a ranking of the coming year’s innovators, pioneers and savviest entrepreneurs working within the digital medium. On the list for 2012 was none other than GBTV and Blaze-trail-”blazer,” Glenn Beck, coming in at No. 12.
According to THR, each of those who made their way onto the Digital 50 “found a way to make digital technology work for them in what still is essentially the Wild West, as in, still yours for the taking.”
Below is the THR’s Digital 50 profile on Beck who ended his Fox News show June 30:
By September, he had launched GBTV, about which Wall Street analyst Richard Greenfield wrote, “Pay attention to Glenn Beck — he’s about to turn the media world upside down.” Two weeks later, GBTV, which applies the cable model to an online property, boasted 230,000 subscribers, each paying $5 to $10 per month.
Beck’s digital assets also include TheBlaze.com, a conservative news site that attracts 5 million uniques a month (according to comScore), and Markdown.com, where NASCAR tickets, NRA memberships and more go for deep discounts. ”I don’t consider [it] a digital company,” Beck, 47, told an industry conference in November. “I consider ourselves more a storytelling company and a content company. The way we deliver it is secondary.” He also suggested that his focus on a new type of media empire may be three to five years ahead of its time. Says Beck, “We are on the verge of revolution.”
Others who made the list include Dream Works Animation CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg, Twitter CEO Dick Costolo, and Facebook’s Mark Zuckerberg & Sheryl Sandberg.

And you have delivered a fantastic show – GBTV – I am addicted!!! I do not watch the FIVE clowns on your Fox time slot. I like Dana & Gutfeld but the others especially Beckel – I do not enjoy listening to him.
