Glenn Beck: This Is ‘One of the Most Powerful God Messages That I’ve Ever Seen’

On his show last night, Glenn Beck shared a very special video message that was posted on YouTube last month by 18-year-old Ben Breedlove, a brave young man who died on Christmas day (just a few days after uploading it). Tragically, Breedlove suffered a heart attack after battling a lifelong condition called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

(The Blaze originally did a post on the story last month: Did NBC Intentionally Edit Deceased Boy’s Admission That He Believed in God?)

Beck went on to call the video, which has been viewed by more than six million people world-wide, “one of the most powerful God messages that I’ve ever seen.” The recording, which deals with both personal and spiritual themes, is moving to say the least.

“Very few people even know half the story of [Ben's] life,” Beck said. “It is a remarkable story filled with hope and with love and with laughter and with grace and questioning. But in the end, it is a life full of miracles.”

He continued, discussing how Breedlove’s video is miraculously making an impact, while leading non-believers to God, across the globe:

“God is not sitting on the sidelines, but you have to be quiet enough and willing to see it and then stitch it all together. Someday soon, I hope to tell you the full story of Ben’s life and the message that he left that is now connecting with so many people around the world — especially young people — many of them who aren’t even religious at all. They‘re stumbling across this video as it’s passed from person to person and they are learning from Ben’s story that there is a God, that he is good, that miracles happen.”

Beck went on to share Breedlove’s video message in its entirety — something that many media outlets declined to do when initially reporting on this story last month. In fact, some media, as we’ve noted, actually left Breedlove’s references to God (what seems to be the main premise of his message) out of their coverage entirely.

“This is a message that a young man received and then did exactly what he was supposed to do — share it with you — so you knew that [God] was involved,” Beck said.

Watch Beck discuss Breedlove’s life and his inspirational video, below:

On Dec. 18, Breedlove posted the clip entitled, “This is my story” on one of his YouTube channels. In it, he shares his battle with hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, as he talks about three incidents during which he cheated death. The two-part video describes, through notecards he holds up (there is no audio), some of the visions he had during these life-threatening incidents.

In describing his first experience cheating death at the age of four, Breedlove’s cards read:

There was this big bright light above me … I couldn’t make out what it was because it was so bright. I told my mom, ‘Look at the bright light’ and pointed up. She said she didn’t see anything. There were no lights on in this hall. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. And I couldn’t help but smile. I had no worries at all, like nothing else in the world mattered.

In describing his third incident cheating death, which occurred in Dec. 2011, Breedlove shares yet another heaven-like encounter. As medical professionals tried to revive him, he says he found himself in a silent, white room that had no walls. Breedlove goes on to say that he experienced “that same peaceful feeling I had when I was 4.” He continues:

I was wearing a really nice suit and, so was my fav rapper, Kid Cudi. [...]

I then looked at myself in the mirror, I was proud of MYSELF, of my entire life, everything I have done. It was the BEST feeling. [...]

I didn’t want to leave that place. I wish I NEVER woke up.

The clips culminate with Breedlove holding a card that says, “Do you believe in angels or god?” and another that proclaims, “I do.”

And here’s the second portion:

An inspiration, indeed.

The problem is, experiences like his have been recreated in experiments where particular parts of the brain which are were stimulated. The same areas of the brain which are hyper stimulated in episodes of hypoxia, or near death, also in trance states, and have been reported by those training in high G simulation. A feeling of peace, euphoria, hallucinations involving bright lights, dead relatives, streets of gold, burning embers, etc—- all of the things reported by those relating spiritual experiences. You can think they are indeed spiritual and God given miracles, but with the right equipment you can make those miracles happen right inside your own head. So, this is evidence of God’s existence or evolution, or both. But it proves absolutely nothing except that the brain is structured to, among other things, help us cope with the knowledge that we will die at some point.

I will only do this once, I have done quite a bit of research into NDE life after death studies. Studied for years, and was starting to think that maybe it was just a dieing mind……
But then several recent stories have changed all that., the huge case that science even admits disproves the dieing brain theory is the lady that was having brain surgery that was dead for about 30 mins, with absolutly no brain activity they know this becuase they had electrodes hooked all over her brain. Though when she was finally brought back to life she could recall everything in detail (everything) even visually even though her eyes was taped shut. There is plenty of evidence to suggest this life doesnt end when our flesh does. Just start looking into without a chip on your shoulder.

I think it was your condescending statements that other Blazers were dissing you on. You insinuated that the Blaze writers were behind the times on this story and assumed they needed Glenn’s permission to run with a story. Now maybe, that was not your intent, but that is how it came across. They were pointing out, not always in the best way, that you were WRONG.

If you watched the video and watch GBTV like you say you do, you would have heard that Glenn stated he covered the story before, but only showed a snippet. He came back to the story and showed the entire video this time.

Truly inspiring! Being a cancer survivor myself I have seen the face of death and know how overwhelming it can be physically and emotionally, but also know that peace comes from the support and love of others, but mostly the joy of feeling the love and comfort that comes from the other side as well. I have never seen an angle or heard voices from the other side but can feel how truly concerned they are for each and every one of us on this side… Remember that those that have passed away from this live miss us as much as we miss them and one day we all will be reunited.

I like this site and enjoy the comments, but I hate the way they are sorted. Far too disjointed and disorganized. Do you have to be a premium member to get any use out of it? I’m about done trying to communicate through this mess.

But as for this kid’s near death experience and all those like it, researchers have found several ways the the brain can be induced to replicate these experiences. Subjects report lights, tunnels, dead relatives, angels, euphoria, overwhelming sense of love and acceptance, burning embers, etc. I saw video of one subject who had a near death experience in his life and was subsequently a subject of this research and he reported no discernible difference between the two experiences. How that should effect your beliefs about life after death or spirituality, I don’t presume to know, but it is a fact that it is a natural reaction to various stimuli whether natural or artificially applied to the brain. God is in your neurons. Is that real, or an evolved coping mechanism to prevent psychosis. Knowing you will die eventually is a uniquely human thing and spiritualism is the means by which we cope with both known, unknown and unknowable. Is it real? Well, experiments in quantum mechanics indicate anything that is possible, is. Or nothing is real. Or we are all just Sims playing a part on some megabrain computer. SO why sweat it?

Before I wrote, I started reading what others had to say and was shocked. Among many that felt as I did, there was an overwhelming number of people writing the most vile and hateful things imaginable. “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

@Delta D-5-3.. hey there.. if you believe what the bible says is true, then you CAN know if you are worthy of admittance. The bible teaches that we simply need to accept that we are sinners and believe that Jesus died on a cross(and rose again) to cleanse us of those sins so that we are unblemished in front of the Lord come judgement day. It’s literally as simple as believing in Jesus Christ and what he did for us on that cross, and it has nothing to do with good works. For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God(Eph 2:8) You can’t save yourself right? You can do as many good works as you want to but the fact is that we we’re doomed to die from that sin within us. We broke the law and we need someone to bail us out and we can’t do that ourselves. I would absolutely hate living with the knowledge that I ‘MIGHT’ make it to heaven to be with God. Life is soooo much more peaceful knowing that I’m in Gods hands forever now because of the work of Jesus Christ. Why listen to me though right? I‘m some internet person you can’t trust but I’m tellin ya, do some research so that you KNOW this is true. GotQuestions.org is an amazing site.

The MOST POWERFUL God Message Is:

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.

For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.”

Even the devils believe in Christ. “If ye love me keep my commandments”. Be ye therefore perfect, even as I am perfect are the words that i know to be true. This does not change the fact that we are saved by grace, because we are. But God requires that we live by his commandments to the very best of our abilities. He also commands us to love our neighbor as ourselves. Is this not good works? Are these not commandments of God? You are very right when you say that we are saved through the grace of Jesus Christ. But we are also commanded to keep his commandments.

We don’t cry because there lost but because they went home and we miss our friends. My 3 yr old son does the same thing when his friends have to go home even though he knows he will see them soon.

I never met him, but I cant wait to play sports with him in heaven.

Mine was: Shooting through a Tunnel… at White Light at the end… Self Judgement… a Coaxing to come to light… the Light closing like a Camera Lens… going beyond (another story)… and Returning (with a Peace, disregard for Things & Money, and a feeling that this World is Cold)!

Thanks for sharing your own stories. I’ve had heart problems for the last 20 years. Years ago, I felt like I was standing up from my bed but when I looked to my left as I moved upwards I could see my body still on the bed. I moved forward toward the bright opening of flowing light thinking it must be my time to leave this life. The feeling of God’s love was incredible. I stood for what seemed like a few minutes looking into the light and listening to angels singing the most beautiful songs. The way I would describe it is to say that if you took the strongest feelings of love you have ever experienced and multiplied it by 5,000 or 10,000 times it would be similar to how I felt standing in that light. I have begun telling my story to my close family and friends but couldn’t until now because of how emotional I would become just reliving the experience by thinking about it. I learned other things too, but will end with this. I will tell everyone who reads this how important it is to forgive others, especially members of their own family, and to help others who are in need. The 2 things we ask of God if we put our faith in him are for his forgiveness & blessings. Can you expect God’s forgiveness if you will not forgive others? Can you hope for his blessings & mercies if you will not help the less fortunate. God will not have to force any knee to bow or tongue to confess his name. We will all do it willingly after experiencing what I did when I was out of my body. God lives.

WOW….this is a touching video….what a fantastic young man! the way he lived his short life, knowing that each and everyday was probably his last. What wonderful faith he had, to live as he did and teach and tell. Then I start reading the comments from a few “people” on here….If you are an atheist…….WE DON’T care about your feeble and lost explanation on why he saw his vision…..you can no more disprove God , than I can show you a family pic of him….yet I will not go to a story about a young atheist dying and put up there that he /she is going to hell!!! I would never do such a thing!! you lovers of your own intellect, want to discount the very thing this young man had…..which got him through all these horrible struggles in life….and for what???? do you want us to tell you that your so smart? or that we are so undeveloped?? why don’t you shut your mouths and let people just be…. and lesbian…….you remind me of the gay version of the westboro church people…you make me sick!!! and while I am at it… ( pst. if you want people to treat you equally in life, with your sexual PREFERENCE, don’t tell people you are gay before you tell them you are a gun lover!!!!!! most people are NOT defined by their sexuality, it is A part of them not THE part of them…and again…shame on you…..that is all, go be gay with guns!!!!

Everyone defines themselves in different terms in different places and at different times.

Some people here define themselves by their personal politics. Some by their opposition to Obama and the Left in general. Some define themselves according to their geographic locations, emotional states, favourite automobiles or sports franchises. Non of these schemes is superior or inferior to any other, and each is deeply personal.

I started out on The Blaze with a slightly different screen name. If you hover over over my screenname and then look at the URL that it is linked to, you can see what my account name really is, and the username I intended to use on The Blaze. It started getting censored, so I had to set a new screen name.

I do it specificly to challenge my fellow Conservatives to confront their own bigotries and prejudices and hopefully find common cause with me. If they want to be sexual or religious separatists, fine. They deny themselves the benefit of my input. No skin off my nose.

I use the moniker I do because it stands in contrast to the stereotype of a Blaze reader. If I were on a GLBT site, using a moniker with “lesbian” in it, it would be pointless because it would not stand in contrast to the general clientele of such a site.

      @LESBIAN…

I have found that people using the ‘shock’ tactic can’t be trusted…Their true opinions are often brushed aside in favor of the opinion that has more shock value. It is a tactic used to belittle, not teach.

As for your challenge, you rarely win people to your point of view by being contentious, you usually alienate them

As you become enlightened, try having empathy for those who are not as far along the path as you. Lead by example, not sarcasm.

Dreams are a small, distorted window into what the afterlife will be like. There will be no sense of time, there will be no sense of space, there will be no sense at all. Nothing will be tangible. All that will exist will be your memories, your decisions, your regrets, and your victories. Hell is not a fiery place with pitchforked devils. Hell will be your sin. If you lived a sinful life of promiscuity then, for you, Hell will be an unquenchable lust. If you lived a sinful life of slothfulness then your hell will be unending boredom. And so on…

Your only chance to escape these unending despairs is to root out all the sin from your heart and to overcome it in your spirit. This is the simplified version of what Jesus is saying. Redemption does not come by mouthing empty words one hour a week at a community center. It does not come from excellent comments on a website. Many falsely believe that redemption is merely in the belief of Christ. It is not. It is in the belief and practice of His ways.

I put all this together once after ripping a hefty bowl. I know that discounts all of this for many of you but it is what it is. I had never felt so convicted in all my life. I swear God was with me at that moment.

I know the afterlife is real, not some chemical reaction in the brain, which is all they can come up with to try to disprove the existance of the next part of our eternal life. When they spout that stuff I just laugh, and wonder how silly they will feel when they leave here. Nothing and no one can, or will, change my mind. I know in every fiber of my being and my soul, that our God is real and Jesus came to set us the path to get home again. This young man is home, among those who love him, and his heart is perfect. As a matter of fact, a girl I have been dating considers herself to be an atheist, she’s a good person, just still upset over losing her mother. Her mom was 42 when she passed. while on the phone with her yesterday, I mentioned that I had noticed a few positive references to God on her Facebook page. I asked her about it at 1 AM in the morning. We were on the phone until 4 AM and by the time we were off the phone she changed from believing there is no God, to the idea that God may exist. She then asked me to remind her to change her Facebook page from atheist to agnostic today. It’s a start :) I don’t push my religion on her and leave it up to her to ask questions.

Do you believe in electrons? Do you believe in gravity? Has any man “seen” either? Their effect on your mortal body, this temporal universe – prove their existence. Myopic views always lead to disaster.

Thus says God the LORD, Who created the heavens and stretched them out, Who spread forth the earth and that which comes from it, Who gives breath to the people on it, And spirit to those who walk on it: (Isaiah 42:5)

For the life of the flesh is in the blood, and I [the LORD GOD] have given it to you upon the altar to make atonement for your souls; for it is the blood that makes atonement for the soul.’ (Leviticus 17:11)

life, breath, and all things. (Acts 17:25)

And God said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM.” And He said, “Thus you shall say to the children of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.’ ” (Exodus 3:14)

And Jesus said to them, “You are from beneath; I am from above. You are of this world; I am not of this world. THEREFORE I said to you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe that I AM, you will die in your sins.” (John 8:23-24)

When I [the LORD] say to the wicked, ‘You shall surely die,’ and you give him no warning, nor speak to warn the wicked from his wicked way, to save his life, that same wicked one shall die in his iniquity; but his blood I will require at your hand. (Ezekiel 3:18)

You’ve been warned – and your blood, which will be required one day, will not be on me.

But you have to meet God half way, to have faith. Setting up a wall using reason, with science isn’t having faith. You’ve got to want a connection and be open for it. Don’t discount it because we are wired for it. There’s a place in every heart that wants a real connection.

And honestly, don’t you want to believe that life on earth is only the beginning. Otherwise, life has no meaning and is pointless. A unmeaningful existance is tragic.

Jesus would call her a fool (Psalms 14:1 & 53:1) & would tell her she will die in her sins unless she beleives He is who He claimed to be (John 8:23-24) – the I AM, the self-existent one, the Holy One of Israel, the Lamb of GOD Who takes away the sins of the world, the Messiah, the Creator (John 1).

You’re pretty much the only respondent above worth replying to.

If life actually began on this planet and this planet only, then this is truly a very small and sad universe. I choose to believe that life is multitudinous throughout the universe. Every planet capable of supporting life in any form does support life in those forms, and those forms are out there waiting for one another to discover them. THAT is the wonderous, purposeful life that I believe in.

A life that was born on one planet and will die on that planet and be taken to another dimension to exist in perpetuity in suplication to a higher being… That is purposeless. That is flavourless. That is, quite frankly, disgusting.

BTW, where was god for hundreds of thousands of years while people just like this young man suffered and died alone while god stood by hiding himself and watching the misery unfold? Answer – mankind hadn’t invented god yet. Cue the banjo music. http://www.flickr.com/photos/55751455@N02/5987685144/in/photostream/

I can see why you, as a lesbian, would choose not to believe in God. If there is a God then God has made you gay, thereby condemning you from ever procreating. That would be a tough one to swallow that you have been blacklisted from the real ‘meaning’ of life.

I guess Mother Nature probably doesn’t like you either, though, since she also has made you gay and thereby has cut off your lineage. So you are kinda screwed no matter where you turn. This explains the violent avatar name I guess. Don’t feel bad. There are plenty of other things to do in life besides raise a family; travel for example.

      @ Crawdad:
Ultimately, the atoms all came from nuclear fusion in the hearts of stars, up to the atomic weight of iron. After iron, they’re more from the collapse and death throes of such stars in explosions that go by names such as nova and supernova. After that, it’s all a matter of the laws of physics, and then chemistry, and ultimately biology, none of which have as a precondition the existence of a deity and yet have no real difficulty in accurately describing the universe we observe.

      @Your response to Valid Fib
So instead of believing that after death you live for eternity loving and being loved by God. Your belief is that after death there is nothing and wish for that to not only ring true for one planet full of things with no other purpose than to live and procreate, but also for hundreds of other planets. Or did I misinterpret your hopes for the universe?

      @Your response to Crawdad
It seem that entire explanation relies on the fact that starts have always existed, which I believe is impossible.I don’t suppose you could explain where stars came from? But really, I think we both know what point Crawdad was trying to make, which is, where did everything come from?

      1. I have nothing against one wishing to have a different preference in purpose, I was simply trying to clarify both my end goal and your hopes in the best terms I could. I mean really, who am I to judge one who only wishes to make the universe we live in a better place for all? Sure we will eventually die and everything we’ve done will become meaningless, but at least we made a few people live a bit better or even a lot better, maybe we did so much good in this world that we changed lives. What does it matter when all we’ve done and everyone that can possibly benefit from it will eventually cease to exist?

No where in my religion does it say to get saved and then do nothing for the world around you. My Bible says the opposite, it says to go help the poor, love your neighbors and enemies, that when you do something do it to your best abilities, to go out and share this message of salvation to all. Anyone who is saved by the grace of God and does not help his fellow man is simply apathetic and isn’t truly trying to follow Christ.

2.If you believe that everything we see was created by chance than I’m simply going to have to disagree based on the (almost) mathematical impossibility of it. Since I‘m running out of characters I’ll simply provide a video with which I agree with and explains my points on the Big Bang.

      I enjoy your posts.
It‘s amazing how many times I’ve seen people deceive themselves when it comes to the topic of God or Spirituality. I died on 10-9-1988 on woke up on10-10-1988 a completely empty person. So I started searching for something that I thought I was lacking. I found it, completely on accident, in April 1990. I “woke up” after not trusting anything that my brain told me. I found that the purpose of the brain is to protect to body and bring order in one’s Life. When I say that I do not believe in belief I mean it. When someone asked me if the glass was half full or half empty I replied that it was completely full; half with water and half with air. In the summer of 1990 I was at meeting of Spiritual people who were seeking to know God. I was invited there by one of the women who realized that I had actually woken up. One guy, near the end of the meeting, raised his arms into air and declared that he had found Serenity. “Nothing, nothing can disturb my Serenity!” he cried out with a look of complete happiness and joy on his face. All the other people clasped their hands and praised God and the Angels. I saw that he was lying to himself so I took my 8oz cup, half filled with water and half with air (water at room temp) and gently tossed the water at his face. Very slowly he turned to look at me, his face getting redder by the second and very angry. And then it happened…

And then it happened… he stood up so quickly that his chair went flying across the floor and he started cussing at me like a sailor. After a few moments he noticed the horror on everyone’s faces (except mine) and asked me why I did that to him (between his heavy breathing). I told him that I really wanted to know if he had found an unshakable Serenity or was he deceiving himself and that the water caused him no harm at all.
Searching for God from a perspective of lacking; one finds only lacking. What something is; is what it extends. If I plant an apple seed I do not grow a tomato plant. We live in the World of past and future without ever knowing the Present. We take all of our thoughts, beliefs, learning and prejudices from the past and project a future. If I do this… I will attain that. And I’m never in the Present. One cannot bring the Spirit down to one’s level. One must rise to It. This takes a glass that is completely empty. Not one thought from the past and not seeking to attain anything. Then one stumbles into It by accident. It’s a process of Awareness and not thought. And thought can never lead to this Awareness. All the chants and mantras in the World are just the intellectual gymnastics of thought and deception. I can tell you that there is something within us that is Timeless and has no physical form. I call it Nothing with a capitol N. We are always doing “something” that prevents us from touching “Nothing”. This lad touched Nothing. It’

      It’s in his eyes.
(I just figured out that the “posted on…“ eats up some of the ”Characters Remaining”)

Anyways, what he is asking can be looked at in a different way. “Do you believe in Angels or God?“ is the question and the answer from anyone who has really been ”There“ is ”no”. What he is asking is to go beyond thought to the level of Awareness where there is no “belief” in such things. He is stating that he stumbled into It and wants to know why others haven’t. People are reading this as if he had asked, “Do you believe in Angels and God?” The use of “or” and not “and” says a lot to a Monk who has stumbled through that Door many times.

I enjoy your posts. Please don’t go away because of some of the posters here. I can explain the Universe is terms so simple it’s logically amazing. I had a similar experience (although I hate the word “experiential”)…..
I was outside laying down looking up at the Universe. It was a cloudless night, no humidity and the Stars shone brightly. I could see the Milky Way and thought about where I was in the Universe looking into the Spiral of the Milky Way from its edge. A slight breeze brushed against my face and I starting thinking about the molecules that so gently touched me. There was no separation between the molecules and my skin, then no separation from those molecules and the next molecule and that molecule to the next until all thought stopped and in a timeless instant a very powerful Awareness took me over and there was no separation between me and the Stars. I was standing in a Timeless doorway without any separation between Space and myself. I took one step past the doorway and there was Nothing, yet Everything, without any separation. The “word” separation was not in my vocabulary; as if I never knew about it. My “mind” had no thought but, my “Mind” was so full of Energy. A Peace that knows no war, a Love that knows no hate, a Being that knows no separation. Then, someone walking by shook my shoulder and asked, “What are you looking at?” Thought returned, I looked at him and said, “Nothing.” Then we went our separate ways….

@ G.E.R. Actually, and I’m not trying to pry here, but the Bible is more historically acurate than any other text in antiquity and has over 40,000 manuscripts to back it up. I’m no genius but I have done my homework. I‘ve written papers on it and I’ve researched it several times. Do I know everything, no. But if you would like to disprove it, then I suggest that you look at a couple of different books first before you stick to your “God and the bible doesn’t exist” speech. Lee Strobel, known journalist for the Chicago Tribune, thought like you did for a very long time. A known atheist as he tried to disprove Christ and the bible and actually ended up proving it after only a couple of years of research. He’s done several books like “The Case for Christ” and others. Josh McDowell has written a very deep read titled, “The New Evidence that Demands a Verdict.” My prayer is that through evidence, God may speek to you and that you might be saved. Because when you die, you’ll know heaven and hell exists, but by that time, it’ll be too late. I don’t want that for you or anyone. You owe it to yourself to try. I did, and now I’m changed.

The first members of our species were not created by divine breath and a pile of dirt in garden with a talking snake. The universe was not created in 7 days. And it would be logistically impossible for Noah to have 2 of every species of animal on his ark. So if one or any part is false it cannot be considered credible.
