‘Glennpocalypse’: Stephen Colbert Readies Emergency ‘Beckpack’ in Case Glenn Leaves Fox News

Mediate:

It is no secret that whenever Stephen Colbert claims to a “big fan” of somebody, he’s setting himself up to absolutely rail on his target. In these instances, Colbert is like a giant truck, backing up to unload an enormous heap of scorn, though pleasantly delivered with his uniquely detached irony and absurdly amplified delivery. Take for example last night’s episode in which Colbert focused on Glenn Beck, and recent news that he might be on his way out at Fox News. Or as Colbert calls it, the looming “Glennpocalypse!”

If you had made many dollars in a few years on a tv show and were able to leave the stress and grind; and not suffer financially, you might call it a day and simplify your life. I wouldn’t blame GB at all. I don’t however; think FOX would fail if he departed.

The real comedy is that those who dismiss Glenn as ‘nuts’ spend an awful lot of time talking about him. The normal thing to do is ignore a nutcase.

So, which is it, you liberals? Is Glenn psycho, or is he on to something? I mean, if Glenn is nuts like you liberals say, then why do you mention him all the time and come to this site? And you trolls fight hard here, spewing your venom like you do.

That tells me–by the way you trolls do things–that Glenn is on to something. You hate that, which is why you fight so hard.

    ~LMAO at liberals~

Glenn treats his viewers with respect. Frankly, I wish Glenn’s show was more than one hour long on FNC.

Take him away and you (Fox) lose a lot of viewers, a lot of support, and a lot of trust. It will be the biggest mistake you could make in programming. Glenn’s popularity has not waned. When the headline hit Drudge, Glenn barely commented on the story. He did NOT deny it, making me think he’s going to leave after his current contract expires, later this year.
Hate to see him leave FOX, but guess he’ll start his own network.

This the progressive dream/propaganda!! Make it a big show that Glenn is leaving Fox and when he renegotiaties his contract for a bigger slice say “see he is just in it for the money”! Glenn can preach from a soap box and youtube clips and I would still watch his shows. I watched him when he was on CNN and always asked “why the heck is he on CNN”? I was greatly relieved when he finally left them and came to Fox! How on earth he is NOT the highest rated on Fox is beyond me? O’reilly has higher ratings when Glenn is on his show ha ha ha (biased thought disclaimer).

The 5pm slot blows…..working people for the most part are not home yet at that time. Had they put him in a decent time slot he would bury both O’Rielly and Hannity.

I watch Glenn everyday on-line between 8pm and 10pm…..I catch him on “The Daily Beck” I imagine there are a lot of other folks that do the same.

Dawg: (By the way, you have to love that spelling “ability” you display — or lack of) Guess you couldn’t find enough excitement on the Huffington Post or Daily Koz web sites, hmm? The fact of the matter is that Glenn Beck’s Restoring Honor Rally brought close to a million — if not, more — to the event. I know, because I and many others were there with me. As much as they would love to succeed in skewing the numbers, fact is always rude to opinion. Unlike Colbert and Stewart’s “Rally to Promote Insanity”, the stats were not delusionally inflated by the media.

“During the [Rally to Restore Sanity], the hosts of Myth Busters (who warmed up the crowd) estimated the crowd at 150,000. CTV estimated the crowd to be over 250,000.”

He doesn’t want to leave, he’s going to get dumped because the network can’t make money on a show that nobody wants to sponsor. Did you ever see the Batman movie where the Joker burns the big pile of money in front of the gangsters? Well, Glenn is the Joker, Fox News is the gangsters, and the pile of money is what they lose by having a 5 pm show sponsored by shady gold dealers and crappy kitchen gadgets,

A substantial part of Beck’s act, when he not talking about the end of the world, is mocking and ridiculing other people. So it’s ironic to me that anyone is surprised that Beck is on the receiving end of that same treatment, especially ironic considering the person dealing it out is a comedian.

But to the point: is Beck leaving FOX. I don’t have any inside information, but I think he will. My reasons? Here are a few that I’ve heard, and a few that are my opinions.

      - As someone said, Beck‘s business model isn’t working. He’s an on air personality who has lost every major advertiser who could actually pay enough to make a profit for FOX. Please, the CEO‘s who are refusing to advertise on Beck aren’t liberals: these are businesses who recognize that name association with Beck is bad for business. You may love him, but major corporations know advertising on his show is poison. Good old capitalism!
      - Beck is at odds with FOX because he promotes his own businesses on his show. He promotes, for example, buying gold, which he profits from but not FOX.
      - There are at least a few at FOX that realize having an evangelist, end-of-the-world prophet as one of their main stars tarnishes the FOX “fair and balanced” claim. That’s saying a lot for FOX.
      - Also IMO, one of these days a Beck fan is going to walk into a building an slaughter innocent people that Beck has demonized. You probably don’t know someone already tried to do that at Tides but was stopped before they did that. Piven has received death threats. One of these days someone is going to go out in a blaze of glory, as the Tides guy planned to. And his market value is going to sink even lower.

It‘s amusing to see that people are STILL delusional enough to believe that not only did Beck’s rally have substantially more than Stewart’s, but it had a million or more. No realistic count of either rally was even close to that number. No, your ridiculous “DERP, I was there and I KNOW it was a million DERP!!!” anecdotal evidence does not mean anything whatsoever. The fact that you think that 1) simply being there makes your count more valid and 2) you think you know what a million people looks like FROM THE GROUND as opposed to those with years of experience counting crowds from the air shows that you have no grasp on reality.

It’s good to see the typical drum beaters are bleating the same lines; The media attacks Glenn because he’s bringing the truth! They fear him! They want to bring him down!!! GEORGE SOROS!!!!!

No. Most people view him for what he is; a joke. Sadly, if his audience was actually intelligent and did any research which, ironically, he pleads for them to do, they’d see he is frequently wrong, that he frequently misquotes his sources, and that he frequently flat out misrepresents information in order to spin stories in the worse possible light. He makes shotgun predictions, guessing 10 different outcomes, and then when even 1 of those comes partially true, he says “A-ha! See! I told you so!!!” while ignoring those other 9 which flopped… and his sheep eat it up and say “Oh wow! He’s right 95% of the time,” either because their memories are horrible or their math is.

But please, don’t let me stop you, you lil’ nutters! Keep on wearing those tin foil hats, believing that Obama is a Muslim and that everyone is out to take your guns away. Everyone else will be over here, focusing on the real issues.

It’s been running on twitter like an out of control brush fire – “Beck to be pulled from FOX later this year.” As I read the tweets, I am laughing so hard my side hurts – he currently is outpacing ALL competition for the air time by more than 5-1. What a stupid theory that FOX would bite the hand that feeds them – they need Beck, he doesn’t need them – his multi-platform presence and status as a best selling author ensures he will be around for a very long time.

Ah, but the pundits are restless – one report, posted just a few minutes ago on Slate, mentioned that The Blaze site was down – still laughing – I’m here now, aren’t I? You fool, when a tweet such as this goes out, there are literally millions that would be interested. Logic tells me that traffic to the site would outpace bandwidth.

For what it is worth though, their wishfull thinking seems to surface about twice a year – I say, let ‘em go! Ratings increase each and every time. They think they have all the secrets – they really do not understand conservatives do they? Even with the revolt in November they don’t get it.

We are the silent MAJORITY and their rhetoric is ticking us off – at the ballot box…
