‘Go Vote’: Milwaukee Teachers Union President Brags About Pushing Recall in Classrooms

Depending on what happens tonight in the Wisconsin Recall Election, this story will likely come off as either tragicomic or unnerving.
EagNews reports that Milwaukee Teachers Education Association President Bob Peterson has been caught on-camera bragging about his (and other teachers’) efforts to use schoolchildren as vehicles for anti-Walker propaganda, as well as to drive to turnout. Watch him brag about this effort below:

Specifically, Peterson bragged about a district-wide program to put flyers of union propaganda in the backpacks of students. He also claimed credit for the union’s effort to physically drive parents and students to the polls to vote.
“We are, as a union, making some changes. We’re talking about reinventing ourselves and one of the things we’ve done this year is put full effort into changing the political process. … We got the district to pass out flyers to every K-8 student – the backpack flyer – to go home that says ‘go vote.’ We have teachers that organized buses at schools to bring parents out, high school students out. And finally, for the next 48 hours, that’s what we’re going to be doing – just get out to vote.”
While the message “go vote” may seem innocent enough, everyone knows what Peterson and his union are talking about. They have blatantly campaigned for Walker’s removal for months, and are perfectly aware that Milwaukee has millions of registered voters who identify with the Democratic Party. A big turnout in Milwaukee could play a major role in the outcome of the recall election.
If Milwaukee were awash with pro-Walker Republicans, there would be no union effort to get out the vote.
Needless to say, given the result of polls leading up to this election, this effort may have backfired. Or, depending on the exit poll results, it might have worked. Nevertheless, this is surely not the purpose of education, and is the sort of story that should give pro-Walker forces reason for indignation no matter the result.

While in most cases there has always been some element of Progressive involvement, it wasn’t until organized crime had infiltrated them and then were hounded out by law enforcement that they were able to fill the vacuum in the leadership. Now, the leadership has a warped ideology. Affected by both those influences, greed from the mobsters combined Marxist rhetoric from the Progressives, they are truly schizophrenic, psychotic in nature. They spot equality while stuffing their pockets.

I hear their stories of summer long vacations, socialist views, and $80,000. saleries for working 8 months a year. I also see the students our schools are producing. We need to get rid of teachers unions protecting poor performing teachers and start teaching the basics again.

I graduated from MPS in the early 1960’s and UW-Madison in the late ‘60’s. I went to a very mixed “ghetto” MPS HS but I also was actually educated by some outstanding teachers, mostly holdovers from the 1920’s and ‘30’s. With that I had little trouble getting through UW Engineering. As far as the “liberal” education at UW the most charitable thing I can say is that I was filled with pure s***. I still can quote the professor in ECON 101 stating with all the certitude of the sheltered academic “We should be emulating the Russian model of economic organization”. This man was on LBJ’s Council of Economic Advisors. It wasn’t until the ‘70’s when found real economics that things started to make sense. So to all you lefties out there protesting, you don’t even realize you’re looking through the wrong end of the telescope. It is not Capitalism you are protesting but Socialism. We are witnessing the worldwide collapse of the Socialist myth. Any country with a central bank, fractional reserve banking, manipulated interest rates, and a fiat currency already has a centrally planned economy. The contrasts are just delicious. This teacher is a great example of what’s wrong with the educational system in our country. The next time someone says more money is the answer, remember this video. It’s not an isolated incident. Teachers are now more concerned with their agenda, it’s not about the kids anymore.

We ran into BIG issues with the teachers and coaches in the Princeton School District in Cincinnati, OH. They push pro-levy propaganda on the kids all day at school, plastering the walls with their garbage and vilifying any parents that propose alternate solutions like wage freezes for teachers.

Rather than waiting until the next gubernatorial election and attempting to over turn Walkers bills he put forth, they spent millions of taxpayers money, millions of union members money and put a sour taste in every bodies mouth. I expect more from the people who teach my kids. This will not be forgotten any time soon or ever in my lifetime. Teachers involved with propagandizing and manipulating our children should be brought up on child abuse. I think it’s time they thought about changing occupations.
