In late June, The Blaze reported on a developing story out of Houston, Texas, where the Veterans Cemetery was being sued for banning God from the funerals and memorials of the soldiers being buried there. Three different lawsuits have been filed by Veterans groups against the VA.

Now, according to one congressman who went undercover, the practice continues. And he’s threatening to do something about it.

As mentioned in the story posted earlier, a Judge had issued a stay against the VA’s orders. Still, the practice apparently hasn’t stopped. Texas Congressman John Culberson from Houston witnessed the shocking practice when he went undercover at a VA funeral — dark sunglasses and all. Our affiliate, KTRH NewsRadio 740, covered the story this morning:

John Culberson is one of several Texas lawmakers upset by accusations that Arleen Ocasio won’t let are veterans use “God” or “Jesus” during military services.  And the Republican says he’ll use his position on a House Appropriations sub-committee to force Ocasio to step down.

Culberson charges that Ms. Ocasio closed the chapel and used it for storage, and that she continues to authorize the practice of asking grieving widows to confirm that they want the word “God” in their ceremonies — as they are walking out of a limousine to the burial ceremony.

Congressman Culberson claims that it is within his powers to eliminate the funding for Arleen Ocasio’s position and that he will do just that. In fact, he doesn’t want her working anywhere in the state of Texas.

Culbertson was on the air with Matt Patrick of KTRH this morning explaining his position:

      Moore was angry that Congress passed the Patriot Act so quickly that some lawmakers hadn’t read the whole bill. So Moore went to Democratic Rep. John Conyers for an explanation.

      “How could Congress pass this Patriot Act without even reading it?” Moore asked.

But before any legislative action is taken, I’m sure there must be a lawyer or two out there who would be willing to sue the hateful puke Ocasio PERSONALLY (for willful and criminal violation of civil rights, and for inflicting mental harm) on behalf of ANY of these veterans’ families.

      In addition, the Governor and State Attorney General should demand the U.S. Attorney pursue federal contempt of court charges against this sorry excuse of a human being. And finally, anyone knowing this horrid woman‘s address and phone number should PUBLISH IT on the internet and send it to EVERY VETERAN’s Group in the U.S. Hopefully, this worthless b#*tch gets exactly what she deserves !!

      I’m of two minds regarding posting personal at-home contact information.

      On the one hand, I appreciate that it could be considered an invasion of personal privacy, etc etc.

      On the other hand, I can see where it‘s sort of like a country that’s having it’s cities nuked by an enemy refusing to use a nuclear response in defense.

      Ideally, nobody should be engaging in personal politically-driven attacks. But, what does one do when one side leaves all sense of decency behind and pursues a scorched-earth policy, and does incredible damage with such tactics? What good, and who will remember it, when the side engaging in such practices annihilates you and writes the history books?

Yes, the SS appeared at my door just prior to the inauguration, the reason I posted that the impending Obama presidency was a “calamity akin to an asteroid impact upon the Earth…..”. The Secret Service agents struggled to maintain their footing on three inches of freshly fallen ice as I regaled them with the possible destructive outcomes of an Obama administration and expressed by views in quite blunt language about their soon-to-be Commander & Chump. With no “search warrant” and my declining their request to enter my home they had no choice but to comically stand below me in the sub-zero NW winds as I maintained a position of dominance above them on my porch protected from the elements. They left with their tails between their legs enlightened as what a True American CITIZEN thinks of Obama and his supporters. I even wished them well because with populace enraged that an anti-American Marxist had attained the nations highest office they sure were going to be busy.

      Thanks, PAVNET. I sent an email today to Mr. Shinseki. Families of veterans or families of any loved ones should be able to have prayers at the funerals of their loved ones. The 1st ammendment prohibits the impeding of the free exercise of religion and the freedom of speech. If someone is offended by prayer or mentions of God at a funeral, then they do not have to have them at their own loved ones’ funerals, but they have no right to restrict or prohibit those things for others. I hope this guy gets so much mail on this that his office is overwhelmed by it.

      Note: This is the same Shinseki who took the black beret away from the Army Rangers and turned it into the mandatory headgear for the whole Army….and had that rule partiall countermanded by the current Army Chief who changed the headgear requirements for the daily work uniform back to a more sensible “field cap”. This is the same guy who was Chief of Staff under Clinton…perhaps this is part of the problem in itself????

      I assume you have some sense of honor and respect for the law. If you do, then you need to terminate Arleen Ocasio IMMEDIATELY !

      This sorry excuse of a human being continues to flagrantly violate Houston area veterans’ families civil rights, in direct violation of a court stay of her illegal order interfering with these citizens’ free exercise of their religion.

      If you fail to take action against this truly worthless federal bureaucrat, then YOU TO are nothing more than a worthless federal bureaucrat who should be fired, as well !

      I am sending emails to ALL of my fellow veterans and their families, urging them to contact EVERY LAST ONE of these Houston area families of deceased veterans ‘s and referring them to lawyers who will sue your employee PERSONALLY, as well as the VA, for willfully violating their civil rights and intentional infliction of great mental harm.

      This issue IS NOT GOING AWAY. If I obtain it, I intend to publish Ms. Ocasio’s address and phone number, for ALL U.S. Veteran organizations to express their disgust with this horrible woman and to take every step legally possible to hound her out of government employment. This is promise, not a threat.

      While emails are quick and easily done, I prefer actually writing and mailing a letter to the head of the VA. Usually, politicians say that if they get a letter they figure it represents 10 people. They assign a lesser number to faxes, emails and phone calls. To me, it’s worth the stamp and the extra effort. Just thing of bins of letters being carted in and all the extra work they would have to do. It warms my heart.

Let them take it to court – That is PUBLIC property – it is owned by the public – it is not owned by the government bureaucrats – it belongs to the people. The men and women being buried there served and many bled and have died for this country – now – although the Constitution guarantees the right of free speech – God I hate that term – it cannot be used on the PEOPLES, the citizens, public property. “Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.” It doesn’t say not on “public” or government or federal property, it says they shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion or prohibiting the free exercise there of. and if this isn’t prohibiting the free exercise thereof – what is it?

    Before retiring from the Army back in the ’90s I spent a year assigned to a funeral detail also in the south. I am impressed that so far none of these Texas families have not physically attacked this woman. I can tell you the rural areas I had to go to there would have been some families that would have literally gone to war. This woman and her willing minions of hate just have to go.

      The prayers are for the living as is the rest of the funeral and internment.

      As a retire Chaplain, I have had to back funeral directors down before. You just take charge and carry out the plan of the day — funeral and burial in accordance w/Christian rites. Period, end of conversation. I have never had trouble w/the national cemeteries where I did burials in the past. This is an exception. Most of the directors are more than happy to stay in their “shack” and watch fm there. Few get involved w/anything other than setting up awning, chairs, and providing for the opening and closing of the grave.

      This is one idiot who is not enjoying her 15 minutes of fame. She may have the power to ban certain veterans groups for now, but shortly this bully will get her comeuppance.

      Sicc’em Congressman! You are earning your paycheck for the people of Houston whom you represent!

    Go Congressman! I’m a veteran, and when a widow is exiting a limo at the funeral is NO time to ask if she wants God mentioned in her dead husband’s ceremony. That is crass, rude and totally uncalled for actions from an apparent athiest who just wants to enforce her point of view. I got news for you: This nation WAS founded on Christian/Judeo principles. Get used to it. We have been silent for far too long and won’t be any longer.
