THR:
Golden Globes host Ricky Gervais didn’t hold back in his monologue at the start of the awards show Sunday night, making a homosexual joke in reference to “famous Scientologists.”
During his opening jokes, Gervais noted that the cast of I Love You, Philip Morris was not nominated.
“Jim Carrey and Ewan McGregor — two heterosexual actors pretending to be gay, so the complete opposite of some famous scientologists then,” Gervais said before adding, “My lawyers helped me with the wording of that joke. They’re not here.”
Although the names were not mentioned, it was clear in the room whom he was referring to as the audience broke into somewhat uncomfortable laughter.

Posted on January 16, 2011 at 11:18pmHere’s what I found even more interesting. On those places the audio was blanked out, the closed captioning revealed they were saying the words “Jesus Christ”

Posted on January 16, 2011 at 11:27pmYeah, I saw that. Although he was saying it more in a swearing way than a calling out to Jesus, my Lord and Savior kind of way.
Report Post »Rawby
Posted on January 16, 2011 at 11:32pmThe context that “Jesus Christ” was used violates FCC guidelines for the time slot on network TV. Same reason that “God” is censored when used in the statement “God damn”. I.E. using the Lord’s name in vein.

Report Post »Socco
Posted on January 16, 2011 at 11:29pmYes, because as we all know, there are NO gay people in Islam. Just ask any Imam! Arafat probably got aids from a blood transfusion and NOT from some little boy.

Posted on January 18, 2011 at 6:19amI don’t care if Gervais is a Lib… the way he made all of those self-righteous, hypocrite, Hollywood elites squirm in their seats was an act of pure ART!
Report Post »One could also tell that the the two conservative-by-Hollywood-standards presenters… Robert Downey, Jr. and Bruce Williis… were trying hard as they could not to burst out laughing. Downey and Willis (and maybe Tom Hanks and Robert DeNiro) showed the ability to (almost) laugh at themselves while the rest of the pompous asses in the room stewed in anger.

Posted on January 16, 2011 at 10:36pmNo, I think the point behind this video is to demonstrate to us what is tolerated as the “norm” amongst this dying hollywood breed. Did you listen to the comments made ?? I would certainly hope no young children would have been watching this. A direct example of why any of us who have some moral integrity are labeled as “prudes” , just because we are responsible with our lives and teaching those beneath us to have morals and values.
Report Post »These Liberal elitist promote the exact opposite, the reason I do believe so many in society have lost sight of what is most important in this life… Family ..Maybe I am wrong, just my opinion …

Posted on January 21, 2011 at 7:42amMaybe Tom Cruise is “gay” because instead of standing by his woman like a big boy, he’s boycotting the award show that Anne Hathaway will be hosting because of her skit on SNL doing little Katie? Maybe the point is that being gay isn’t bad, it‘s just trying to pass for straight when everyone else’s gaydar has been ringing off the hook since we can remember.

AND, its nice to see a bit of justice from the left. I mean, they respect nothing as sacred. And, for a joke, they will even turn on each other! Better them than the rest of society.
Otherwise, it was a rare, but brief, bit of honesty from Hollywood. Pure pleasure.
